Garden Cottage Retreat

We love the cottage setting. The hillside garden with steps to a deck to soak in the magnificent tree line at sunset, and early morning fog, was absolutely beautiful! Restful and private. It is exactly what we needed. The bed was most comfortable - while it was little small, it was expected. The attention to detail and cleanliness was appreciated. The one thing for us that made this a 4 star instead of a 5 is that the toilet size was on the small side for comfort. Aside from this we would recommend friends and travellers to try to book this gem if it is ever available.

An exceptional stay! The cottage is so pleasant: top-notch design, stellar attention to detail throughout, comfortable bedding and window seats, cozy gas fireplace/heater, and peaceful patio. John and Lissa are very welcoming hosts.

Everything about the cottage was fantastic. It was the perfect place to spend a few quiet days reading, drinking tea, and relaxing. We loved the ability to walk into town too. I would happily stay there again.

The cottage was so beautiful and comfortable and the perfect size for my husband and me. There are two window seats which we both spent an afternoon reading in. The garden is thoughtfully planted and maintained and it was lovely to relax with books at the table outside. It was conveniently located to downtown Cambria, hikes at the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, and of course the elephant seals in San Simeon which are not to be missed. Highly recommend!

Cambria Garden Cottage is a magical place to stay. The beautiful gardens and adorable cottage create an ambience that is perfect in every way. Although this was our first visit, it won’t be our last. We can’t wait to return to this peaceful and serene property.

Visiting from the UK, we wanted a lovely place near the Coast. I don't think we could have done better than the Garden Cottage and Cambria itself. A great finish to a lovely trip.

Outstanding property. Better even than portrayed. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. Everything A. Cozy, serene, outfitted with extreme detail such as base lights that illuminate as you walk past, kitchen has anything needed, extremely clean. A compact but well thought out space in a quiet, private area. Hosts were attentive and responded quickly. Highly recommend!

This may be the best vacation rental we’ve ever stayed at! Lissa and John’s property and garden is absolutely spectacular. We appreciated every detail of our stay, including the locally made soaps and lotions stocked in the kitchen and bathroom, fresh cookies upon check in, and all of the other cozy details that made our stay comfortable. Waking up to natural light coming in from all of the windows and watching the birds feeding outside the kitchen window was such a treat. It was the peaceful and cozy retreat we were hoping for!

Beautiful, restful, stay. The wood paneling smells *wonderful*. Bed is comfortable, stairs are easily managed, bathroom is adorable, kitchen has every convience. Short walk to terrific nursery, and linger more adventurous walk directly into the middle of Downtown!! Just lovely. Looking forward to coming back!

This was by far the most quaint, comfortable, amazing stay we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The attention to detail by Lissa and John were amazing! Everything you could possibly need (& more) were included in this little house. We did not want to leave!

The little cottage was clean, location and view from the grounds was splendid and hosts were friendly and welcoming. Three nites was perfect for me.

The Garden Cottage was perfect place to relax, read, nap, sip coffee, enjoy birds, gentle breezes and sunshine! Every inch of the small cozy space is utilized and simply decorated. The outdoor gardens are pleasant, even when viewing from the perfect window seat. Comfy bed and quiet surroundings made for peaceful sleep!

What a delightful cottage and area. Lissa and John have thought of everything. It was sweet and beautiful. From cozy blankets to cookies and wine inside to a sun warmed deck and beautiful garden outside. It was perfect. Thank you Lissa and John. The love you put into the cottage is very obvious!
