Garden Cottage Retreat

The cottage was so serine. The garden was amazing relaxing with beautiful views, lovely song birds and deer. John & Lizza are wonderful hosts and we want to thank them for sharing their beautiful cottage with us.

Encantado! We enjoyed every part of this beautiful property that Lissa and John offer to selected guests. From the manicured landscape to the features within the home, detail was never lacking. Upon arrival, there were scrumptuous fresh baked oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies! The flora and fuana of this property do not disappoint! Wild turkeys, quails, hawks, turkey vultures to the carefully landscaped succulent collection were phenomenal and unparalleled to our other stays. We hope to return next year!

Everything about this VRBO was amazing! We ended up getting in late and I hadn’t even checked the messages but the hosts were kind enough to leave the light on for us. We were greeted by fresh baked cookies which were absolutely delicious! We loved that we were close enough to town to walk but never got the chance to. We’re definitely planning on coming back sometime!!

Cabin was wonderful! Very well tended, spotless, and thoughtfully designed. The garden was peaceful, full of happy birds, and everything is just perfect for a cozy secluded getaway. Loved it, would stay again!

We love the cottage setting. The hillside garden with steps to a deck to soak in the magnificent tree line at sunset, and early morning fog, was absolutely beautiful! Restful and private. It is exactly what we needed. The bed was most comfortable - while it was little small, it was expected. The attention to detail and cleanliness was appreciated. The one thing for us that made this a 4 star instead of a 5 is that the toilet size was on the small side for comfort. Aside from this we would recommend friends and travellers to try to book this gem if it is ever available.

An exceptional stay! The cottage is so pleasant: top-notch design, stellar attention to detail throughout, comfortable bedding and window seats, cozy gas fireplace/heater, and peaceful patio. John and Lissa are very welcoming hosts.

Perfect serene getaway. Charming and many well provided amenities

Everything about the cottage was fantastic. It was the perfect place to spend a few quiet days reading, drinking tea, and relaxing. We loved the ability to walk into town too. I would happily stay there again.

The cottage was so beautiful and comfortable and the perfect size for my husband and me. There are two window seats which we both spent an afternoon reading in. The garden is thoughtfully planted and maintained and it was lovely to relax with books at the table outside. It was conveniently located to downtown Cambria, hikes at the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve, and of course the elephant seals in San Simeon which are not to be missed. Highly recommend!

The new addition makes the place even more comfortable, and the owners provide thoughtful amenities. This was our third stay and we plan to be back.

Cambria Garden Cottage is a magical place to stay. The beautiful gardens and adorable cottage create an ambience that is perfect in every way. Although this was our first visit, it won’t be our last. We can’t wait to return to this peaceful and serene property.

Visiting from the UK, we wanted a lovely place near the Coast. I don't think we could have done better than the Garden Cottage and Cambria itself. A great finish to a lovely trip.

Outstanding property. Better even than portrayed. One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. Everything A. Cozy, serene, outfitted with extreme detail such as base lights that illuminate as you walk past, kitchen has anything needed, extremely clean. A compact but well thought out space in a quiet, private area. Hosts were attentive and responded quickly. Highly recommend!

This may be the best vacation rental we’ve ever stayed at! Lissa and John’s property and garden is absolutely spectacular. We appreciated every detail of our stay, including the locally made soaps and lotions stocked in the kitchen and bathroom, fresh cookies upon check in, and all of the other cozy details that made our stay comfortable. Waking up to natural light coming in from all of the windows and watching the birds feeding outside the kitchen window was such a treat. It was the peaceful and cozy retreat we were hoping for!

Beautiful, restful, stay. The wood paneling smells *wonderful*. Bed is comfortable, stairs are easily managed, bathroom is adorable, kitchen has every convience. Short walk to terrific nursery, and linger more adventurous walk directly into the middle of Downtown!! Just lovely. Looking forward to coming back!
