The property was very clean and comfortable and was within 10 minutes of 2 ski resorts: Nubs Knob and the Highlands. The owner was very helpful and communicated very well.
This is a nice spot on Crooked Lake, one of the best lakes anywhere. But, the listing says they have a hot tub and they don’t. The owner was very friendly and communicative until I asked her where the hot tub was. We just figured it was an oversight on her part, but we would have loved an apres ski soak! That was part of what we booked it for. Take that off the listing and it’s 10 out of 10!
House is well equipped, host is very cooperative, location on lake is beautiful and this is our 2nd stay and not our last.
This is our 2nd time using this great lake home for our family vacation. The house fits our large family and dogs perfectly. The only reason, I did not leave a 5 star rating was we did run into an issue with the master bedroom shower leaking on the lower bedroom, that resulted in us not being able to use the shower in the master. The owner was responsive and did send the handyman to look at it, but this is something that should have been revealed to us prior to our stay. Overall a great house in a great location.
Cozy and spacious home giving 6 adults lots of room to hang together or separately if needed. 4 nice bedrooms with the master bedroom exceeding our expectations. 2 kayaks & a pool table for rainy days. The kitchen has everything for the cook and family, including a large island with many chairs to sit and relax by and a double oven and gas stove with lots of cooking utensils, pots & pans. The lake is warm and has petoskey stones in the rockier areas along the sandy point. The hiking trails begin a couple blocks away and are wide and free from limbs & debris. Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charkevoix, Boyne and even the tunnel of trees are close by for touring. After a busy day on the lake, sit by the fire pit and enjoy a fire or roast marshmallows on the many skewers that are provided. The perfect cottage for summer vacation.
Property was exactly what we were looking for. Kids really enjoyed the pool/ping pong table in the garage and playing on the small beach. Tons of fishing and boating and very close to everything we wanted to enjoy. We would stay here again.
This is the second year we stayed at Crooked lake Cottage -- and we are already planning for next summer. This year, my husband I travelled with our 2 kids, my mom and an aunt. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and we never felt crowded. The location is SUPER convenient to so many things to do. We loved fishing, kayaking, sitting on the deck and playing ping pong. Thanks for the wonderful memories!
Multiple-day stay with many friends and family members. The home is spacious and well-outfitted. Hosts are great to work with. I look forward to our next trip already!
We picked the fall knowing weather could go either way for outdoor excursions. This place was perfect on rainy days with two living areas to spread out. The kitchen / dining area is nicely laid out to accommodate many cooks in the kitchen. Location was also great for shopping and nice hikes for the whole fam and our pups. The little lake it’s on was beautiful each morning
The only major complaint.... rain but that just moved us indoors to play pool and ping pong. There was plenty of room in the livingroom, den and kitchen. The kitchen table gave us plenty of room to spreadout at. There were 2 refridgerators which helped us store the extra food we brought.
We enjoyed our stay boating and visiting the sites. The sunrises are beautiful. The home works well for our family.
Loved the spacious cottage, plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy the lake. My morning view of Crooked Lake from the comfort of my bed was my favorite part!!! We enjoyed our ping pong tournaments...great bonus with the property. Well stocked and spacious kitchen and we enjoyed time on the deck eating meals. We would rent again for sure!! Thanks so much Anna for your great communication and quick responses. ????
Upon arriving the front storm door broken and the exterior of the siding has green & black mold everywhere. This property has not been kept up. Above going inside the house had such a mildew smell especially in the cupboards and walk in pantry, laundry room and pool table area. The rugs are old and dirty we had to remove them due to the condition and smell. The reason I bring my family up north is so all my grand kids can swim, well not in this lake with all the sea weed and the gross slim at the bottom. The grill was dirty and old, also lawn chairs dirty & some were broken, lawn was covered in goose poop. All in all this property was a huge disappointment.
This is the 2nd year we stayed at CLC and had another wonderful time! The weather did not cooperate and it was cool and windy so didn't take out our pontoon much but there are so many other things to do around the area that we were busy! The house was comfortable and afforded our large group of 9 plenty of space to move about. Unfortunately the beach area at the house is not the best, too many geese and that is nothing you can change so be understanding about it! A short ride out on the boat and you will find a great sandbar and you can access a beach on Pickerel Lake. The owner is very accommodating about bringing a pontoon, last year we rented from the area this year we had our own. There are also several area beaches within driving distance. The garage ping pong table also kept the kids busy and the big dinning room table gave us plenty of room to eat and play games.
Here are the things we liked and felt were excellent: - The upstairs bedrooms were great, plenty of room and light! - Large closets. - A highchair - Large kitchen, eating, and family room combination with a large island. - two large family rooms at the back of the house - We especially liked the extra room at the back of the house for quiet time. - The backyard/beach was lovely. - We really liked the deck area that had a clear fence. We were able to let the baby and the dog be outside without worrying about safety. - The garage had a pool and pingpong which we used when it rained. - Fishing off the end of the dock -Kayaking -bonfire Here were the things we did not enjoy: - The downstairs bedroom was very small and dark with a memory foam mattress. You could hear the traffic on 31 at night. However, it had a walk-in closet that we were able to use for dressing and storage. There was an attached bathroom. - The upstairs bedroom with a Queen sized bed had a hard mattress. - Some of the boards on the dock was a little shaky, and we had to watch the toddlers very carefully so they would not fall off while fishing (yes they caught fish off the end of the dock, much to their delight). -The dryer was broken so we had to use a laundromat -Not enough towels for everyone's needs Overall this was a great place to spend time with family. We are thinking seriously about coming back next year. If so, we will bring beach and extra bath towels. There was lots to do very close to where we were plus lots to do on the property as well. Getting a comfortable nights sleep was the only real problem anyone had. I highly recommend the property, but suggest that a 4-day weekend was not long enough to really explore all the activities that a family might want to do. We had a great time. We are also thinking about coming back here for a winter adventure.
Property was exactly as described! Clean, comfortable and very well stocked with everything we needed. Water access was beautiful. Kayaks were an added bonus. Lots of things to do!. Would definitely recommend!!
