Family and pet friendly converted barn in a peaceful rural setting

Lovely, clean, comfortable and cosy cottage. Love the extra touches like milk and fresh eggs. We didn't get time to visit the alpacas and chickens but will do that next time. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful cottage - it looks brand new. The beds were very comfortable and everything we needed was in the kitchen. It was 2 mins from Sandsend in the car, which has plenty of paid parking. 5 mins drive from Whitby. It was lovely to be out of the busy throng but so close to everywhere. The hosts are lovely - helpful but not intrusive. Stayed with 3 dogs. Fences about 4ft. Meshed on 2 sides, it would be possible for a small dog to get out - or a jumper but fine for us.

Lovely property pet friendly and child friendly

The owners of this property have thought about everything. On arrival we found milk, tea and coffee and eggs for us. We also got to meet the alpacas and the free range chickens. The owners live next door to the cottage and are a nice couple.

Lovely property in an excellent location. Pauline and Bob were very helpful.We loved their Alpacas and their very friendly dogs and cat. The garden was loverly to sit in and had beautiful views. All in all an excellent stay.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at the cottage. It is in a lovely, quiet location for Whitby and the surrounding areas.

4th time we have spent a holiday here, always clean, ample car barking, dog friendly and the hosts are very welcoming and friendly. Have always enjoyed spending time here and lovely outside space to sit and enjoy the sun.

Easy to find, easy parking, lovely hosts, very nice touches with the milk and eggs. Exceptionally clean! Very well equipped, will definitely be booking again!! Apologies for not being able to say goodbye. A big thank you.

Lovely property , like home from home , would use again

We loved it here and will definitely return. It was easy to find and in a great location between Whitby and Sandsend. Our grandson loved the alpacas and Pauline let him feed them and collect eggs. What a wonderful experience for him. The cottage was great, very cosy with everything you need. Parking is easy and safe and there is a lovely garden. People have commented on WiFi but we didn’t have an issue. It dropped in and out but was fine for what we needed. There is enough to do to not need screen time all day and night. Our grandson didn’t want to leave - and neither did we! I can’t wait to book another visit.

Second time we have stayed at this lovely, clean, spacious property. Ideal location so close to Sandsend beach and had a lovely meal at The Stables, just down the road. Cannot fault a thing apart from the Wi-fi signal - at times there was no signal and had to search for areas in the house where we could pick one up (sometimes at the top of the garden) Just to note this wasn’t a problem last year when we stayed. Not ideal for 3 teenage kids, but we survived and this did not stop us from having a great time away.Thank you for the eggs and milk.Would love to return one day.

Property was lovely and clean. It was quiet but no local paths for walking our dog. The paths that were there were really overgroen

Great location to head into Whitby. A few nice touches from Our hosts who were very friendly. Dog friendly was a huge bonus. All round good standard. Unfortunately the bar/restaurant is closed in the village, but there are plenty of places in and around Whitby to buy food and have a drink.

Excellent accommodation and such a peaceful setting . Host Pauline was very welcoming and helpful.

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was amazingly well equipped and clean. When we arrived there was a pint of milk in the fridge and half a dozen eggs waiting for us which was lovely. Thr cottage does have wifi which we had wanted as we have teens and one of them had a live webinar booked for uni while we were away but the wifi was too slow so he had to miss it. Really lovely cotrage and would stay again.

This is our third visit to the cottage and like the garden and space. It's also very accessible for Whitby, the Abbey is always worth a visit and the town is a delight to wander through.

This is the perfect location for peace and quiet. Beautiful property with everything you need for a lovely stay. Sitting in the garden and listening to the birds was magical. Just so peaceful. Even Lollie the cat was super friendly. 🥰🥰

This is a lovely place to stay, a real home from home. Close to Whitby beach and Abbey also a 40 min drive to Scarborough. Clean, tidy and very comfortable. The eggs and milk were a lovely touch. We are definitely going to go again

We had a great short break to visit the area and the goth weekend. The cottage was perfect for our needs and Pauline and Bob were very helpful. The kids loved feeding the alpacas! Easy walk to the park and ride to get a bus into Whitby, and a 5 minute drive to beautiful Sandsend to enjoy the beach. We hope to be back!

Lovely and relaxing break away from the stresses if everyday life. Beautiful rural location a short drive from Sandsend and Whitby. Local shops within walking distance. Spacious accomodation with lovely garden and welcoming hosts living next door. Can't wait to go back again in October.

Very well equipped cottage in a well positioned location. There were 6 of us staying and had plenty of space for us although we were lucky to have great weather so we could use the garden as well. We had a few wi-fi issues in the evenings but

Just back from a lovely little 2 night stay at Grain Cottage. Beautiful little hideaway with everything you could possibly need. I booked the wrong week like a moron. Pauline was still able to accommodate even though I didn’t notice until about noon the day we arrived. It’s a very well done barn conversion. It was great having an enclosed yard for the dog. You can’t beat the price and we even got to feed the alpacas.

This is our second year staying at Christmas. It’s great location for Sandsend and Whitby. The house itself is warm well equipped and spacious for the whole family to stay. We love staying here as a family and will be returning again throughout the year.

Perfect location for us, the cottage is very well equipped with lots of games and dvds. The garden is enclosed so we weren’t worried about the dog getting out.
