Stayed Jan 24, 2026Beautiful cottage -the only drawback was the approach road, which is very potholed. Also stairs a quite steep to the upper floor. Sally is an excellent host.

Stayed May 17, 2025Lovely grounds and views across the valley. Well equipped with plenty of kitchen utensils, microwave, ample free parking. Close by. Footpath to Hawkshaw was next to the cottage, and a lovely area for walking.

Stayed Apr 26, 2025Such a tranquil cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Cottage was so cool as we experienced a really hot week so good to come back to. The only thing we felt could improve was maybe fence in the back garden to contain the dogs we felt a bit awkward if they wandered in front of the next cottage.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969We loved looking out on the sheep and lambs in the fields from the cosy bedroom with its four poster bed and wonky beams. Sally, our host gave us a friendly welcome chat and settled us in with two pints of milk. The kitchen has everything you need, the bathroom has big fluffy towels and the television and wi-fi reception is excellent. Parking was easy and the garden was full of beautiful yellow irises. In the back garden is a seating area which would be great should the weather be warm and sunny. We were grateful that the central heating came on as the weather was chilly when we stayed. There are lights strung on the handrail leading down to the cottage which were helpful in the dark. We would certainly recommend Ellen's Cottage and look forward to a return visit. The cottage gave us everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so nothing needed improving as far as we were concerned.
