Nehalem, Oregon
Here you can find the true NEAHKAHNIE TREASURE! Neahkahnie's true treasure is the energy of the mountain - the powerful "life-force" it holds and makes available for each of us. Neah-kah-nie means "place of the spirits".
Three hundred feet above the waves on the ocean edge of Neahkahnie Mountain, thirty feet above the ground, surrounded by giant Sitka spruce and Douglas fir. Well out of tsunami zone. Look out through the trees, both south and west to the ocean. Look up from the sleeping loft through a huge skylight past the branches to the night stars.
This is a place to leave the city and urban culture behind - a TV-free zone (video/DVD/wi-fi available). A retreat into the world where the rest of nature speaks loudly. Where eagles circle and sing. You can touch true peace and magic here.
Built by hand, with love, thirty years ago. Rock off of the mountain, cedar from the river. The loft and ceiling are redwood. It is a nest out of which books, articles, and visions of the world we are moving into have hatched and taken wing.
The beach is a fifteen minute walk down the road, and a nice aerobic walk back up. A short drive to Oswald West State Park, the trail up Neahkahnie Mountain, the town of Manzanita, or Nehalem Bay State Park.
The Nest is a place to begin a new journey, to refresh your soul, to find new depth, new growth; to choose new futures within yourself.

This was the most amazing place with a view that cannot be beaten in Manzanita. We loved the careful little details, the sleeping quarters and the many books. This place is a gem!
Unique retreat in a beautiful place to enjoy a long weekend.
Our second stay at the Eagle's Nest was just as wonderful as our first last winter. The home nestled in the trees on the mountain side is amazing. The ocean and sky views are awe-inspiring. We will return often.
This was a wonderful place to stay as it was so different from home. Beautiful views of the ocean from so many of the rooms made it feel like we were on vacation. The presentation in VRBO certainly was not photoshopped. Home is clean and comfortable and has everything you need.
This Vrbo provided us exactly what our souls needed and that went well beyond different landscape. It was a better way of living in a more co-existential life with the world around us and all the powers known and unknown. Every need was accounted for and we left this amazing place better, more inspired people. The space was perfect for our family of 4 with our 2 kids (9 and 10). They found all sorts of interesting things in the place. I wish I was a faster reader, though, as there was a huge volume of inspiring literature.
An amazing place to stay and unwind! An unbelievable view!
Wonderful home high above the surf. Central location to Astoria in the north and Tillamook in the south. Manzanita is the cutest town. Went to Wild Apple every day for supplies. Loved sleeping in the loft with the skylight and huge window, like a tree house. Thank you Faye for an unforgettable experience!
It really was.
Just as magical as we remembered it to be. The type of house that leaves a lasting impression on you!
Absolutely stunning. Every minute spent felt special, from the morning to the night, you can see the beauty of this place, it feels magical. My second favorite part of this place was sleeping with window open and having the ocean put you to sleep, there’s no way that you can have a bad day.
The skylight over the loft bed is what drew our attention to the property. And the rest of Eagle's Nest proved to be the perfect cake for the skylight icing. To be able to watch the tree dance to a star filled backdrop was captivating. On the one rainy night. The sound of the rain falling on the skylight lulled us to sleep for our last night. The location, tucked in amongst the trees. High above the coast line. Made for some spectacular vistas. We were close enough to every location we wanted see. And yet far enough away that we felt we were in our own little paradise. Thank you, to the host and property owner for sharing the story of Eagle's Nest. The energy of the nest brought us the serenity we hope to enjoy on our adventure. I am sure we will make an attempt to return.
The Eagle's Nest is indeed a treasure and a retreat to refresh your soul. We were mesmerized watching the ever-changing Pacific Ocean and awed by the craftsmanship of the home. We were lucky to encounter a rare coastal snow event while there and enjoyed the cozy, peaceful environment. The host is very caring and helpful. We will be back often.
This was our first trip to Oregon so I wanted to find the perfect property that had all the views and the Eagles Nest went above and beyond in meeting that request!! Such a hidden gem? And our family of 4 (kids age 9 and 4) thrived off of the simplicity of the home and lack of tv!! We taught our daughter how to play solitaire and War, made dinner together, cleaned endless rocks and seashells with our little guy, built towers out of the cutest vintage blocks, and soaked it ALL in!! Thank you for allowing us to visit, reconnect, and make these lasting memories with one another!!
Great experience. Stunning view and location. Love the Eaglle’s Nest uniqueness. Absolutely will stay here again in the future.
What an astonishingly wonderful time we had at the Eagles Nest. Our souls are replenished and we found peace in the waves. Thank you so much for this gem.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Eagles Nest and adored Manzanita! We’ve spent the last several years exploring areas of the Oregon Coast and this was certainly one of our most favorite!! This home has such beautiful history and there truly is something magical about this area. The home was well stocked and cozy with fabulous views. We love that there wasn’t a TV which gave us more time to truly connect and unwind. We had a great time exploring Oswald State Park and the proximity to Cannon Beach. Truly an outstanding experience with memories we will cherish forever ?
The Eagle’s Nest did not disappoint! It is the perfect place to decompress and enjoy your surroundings. Drinking coffee and enjoying slow mornings, looking at the Pacific was amazing! Definitely a hidden gem!
