Stayed Dec 17, 2025Nichole and Mario were amazing hosts! Nichole helped arrange a taxi from the airport, a tour to Corcovado, meat delivery, and so much more! I truly appreciated her quick communication. The house is darling: a separate kitchen/living space from the bedroom and an outdoor bathroom. We were left with extra towels and supplies and provided soaps and shampoo, even olive oil! We saw so much wildlife just outside our front door (and back porch) including spider monkeys! Mario was great at keeping the place beautiful and told us some awesome Costa Rican stories. They even let us use our BBQ and let our family of 6 come over for dinner. It was just icing on the cake! The casita is about a 5 minute walk to the beach so there’s no “beachfront” but we weren’t expecting that. It is also in a little neighborhood so we could hear the lively neighbors, their dogs, and motorcycles but it wasn’t that big of a deal. We still got the chance to listen to the jungle sounds at night. And the AC was a plus! We would stay with Nichole and her family again in a heartbeat. Can’t wait to come back! Pura vida!

Stayed Dec 29, 2024Nichole and Mario were outstanding hosts; availables responsives, authentically sympathetics and providing useful advices regarding restaurants and tour operators. We did 2 great hikes with Mario. The apartment had everything we needed; much enough space for 2, good bed, a well equiped ktichen, fast enough wifi. The only downside, despite all the windows, there no much light getting inside, thanks to abondant rainforest in the back yard. However, the porch outside was the perfect place for eating, even when it was raining. We cooked most our meals. I suggest you order your fish or meat thru Nichole. We had an outstanding mahimahi grilled on the BBQ. We did the 2 Corcovado and the Magrove tours with Piccolino. Worth it!In summary, great little home, with outstanding value.

Stayed Nov 19, 2024Mario met us as we departed our boat shuttle. The next morning he took us for a great walk with so many birds. We saw howler monkeys, capuchin, agouti, toucans, aracaris, tons of tanagers, hummingbirds, parrots and so many more species just at the house! Mario put a banana in the bird feeder and we watched toucans, aracari and tanagers eat! Super Mario is an excellent host showing us the ginger, turmeric, bananas, plantains and cocoa growing in his yard! Great place for a couple or family of three.

Stayed Mar 24, 2024The house is exactly as advertised. Extremely beautiful setting, clean, and has all the accommodations you may need. Located very close to town making for an easy walk to the beach, breakfast, dinner, or just to see the sights around Drake. Nicole and Mario were extremely helpful in finding us tours around Drake Bay during our time. They were available during our entire stay and had great recommendations for restaurants, tours, and activities to do during the day. We enjoyed morning strolls with Mario down to Rio Aguajitas spotting birds and getting to know Drake Bay better. This was an amazing vacation in Costa Rica and Nicole and Mario were exceptional hosts! If you’re looking for a place to stay with nice accommodations close to town, stay with Mario y Nicole!!

Stayed Jan 21, 2024Our hosts Nichole and Mario were top notch. Very responsive and extremely helpful with tours and transportation, and all around assistance. Mario was on site and not only is he a warm and gracious host, but we felt that we had our own concierge. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of each day. He is also an expert at animal sightings and very knowledgeable about all the species you can see on his property. His passion about the wildlife and helping his guests is very obvious. As far as property…. WOW, what an amazing private oasis!! The casita is located on the property that Morio and Nichole own but yet it still felt private with lush forest all around us . The casita was clean, very well appointed, and had just about everything that we could possibly need. We cooked in quite a bit and the kitchen with fully stocked. We enjoyed sitting on the patios in the mornings and evenings, just taking it all in and seeing monkeys, toucans, iguanas, macaws and an assortment of other wonderful animals. From the casita you can reach restaurants and stores within a 5 to 10 minute walk. The beach is a five minute walk away, and this is where everybody meets for the tours. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the Casita. We would recommend it to anybody visiting Drake day that’s not looking for a standard hotel. The casita offers so much more. A huge thanks again to Nicole and Mario for helping us to have such a wonderful time on the Osa!

Stayed Nov 17, 2023Such a unique property. Mario and Nicole are great, helpful and attentive hosts! Mario is a great hiking partner and will get your heart rate going for sure. If you get a chance, go birding with neighbor Jose (absolutely stunning number of birds that you can see by just walking the perimeter of town). Recommend it to anyone who loves nature but also likes the convenience of being close to town.

Stayed Mar 6, 2023Our host was kind enough to meet us at our boat to Drake Bay and helped us with information about the area. The place was clean and comfortable, it looked out on a reserve where we were immersed in the rainforest sights and sounds. We had a lovely time.

Stayed Jan 17, 2023Right from the time of booking to our departure, our hosts provided guidance and support to make the most of our stay. Mario was on the beach to meet us as we arrived by boat from Sierpe and he made arrangements with a collectivo taxi to take us to Palmar Norte on our way out. The casita is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Toucans flew in as we arrived and I could see monkeys in the trees while I was showering. I would recommend this lovely place for a couple or small family, as there is a third bed in the bedroom. And I would probably book 5 nights rather than three. There is so much to see and do here. Wished we had more time to walk the coastline trail to Playa Josecito. The only word of caution would be for those who are interested in snorkelling at Isola Cano. It was the attack of the jelly fish. Wetsuits are highly recommended if you want to avoid the stings.
