No need for car once there, as the free Islander bus transports you and your bike everywhere on the island. This is a very cozy home very close to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park. Wonderful restaurant on the corner within walking distance. Everything was as described and very comfortable.
Property was very nice. We had a little difficulty finding the cottage as we arrive late at night and it was dark. The house number was on the house and not the cottage as we could not see the cottage as we drove up. the downstairs bathroom did have a funky smell to it. we love the fact that we could walk to everything and the restaurants were wonderful. I would highy encourage the ferry to bar harbor.
Very comfortable, spacious kitchen and dining area as well as living room/TV area. Very well supplied with all our dining and cleaning needs. Downstairs and upstairs bathroom with large walk in showers. I would suggest that the upstairs bathroom needs more hooks for towels and a small table for toiletries . John and Ann were very responsive both on line and by phone for any of our questions. We really enjoyed our week with you! Thanks, Margaret
Very nice, well equipped house. Located on a quiet street within walking distance of everything in Winter Harbor including restaurants, groceries, and the Winter Harbor - Bar Harbor Ferry. Very conveniently located for exploring the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia NP by car or bicycle. Day trips to Bar Harbor and the Mount Desert Island portion of the park are very doable as well, but note that Bar Harbor is a good hour drive by car. We really liked the property and would definitely book it again.
We very much enjoyed staying in John and Anne's cottage. It is in the heart of Winter Harbor with easy access to all the shops and a short drive away from the National Park at Schoodic and nice outlooks on Grindstone. The house is well equipped and comfortable. Everything worked (although the Wifi is a bit slow). John and Anne are welcoming hosts.
Very cozy in a great location for exploring the Maine coast and a nice drive across the bay to Acadia park and Bar Harbor we ate at great restraunts close by and cooked in all in all a great bacation
Centrally located, beautifully decorated, comfortable house making our trip to the quiet side of Acadia the perfect getaway.
This property location was exactly as described. My family that includes three children under the age of 8 thoroughly enjoyed the laid back atmosphere of Winter Harbor, and the views experienced at Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula. We took the ferry from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor one day and had a great time on the ferry. We realized quickly though that the views available at Acadia on Schoodic were just as spectacular as the views available in Acadia in Bar Harbor with far less crowds/congestion which was preferred for the ages of our young kids. There are more dining options in Bar Harbor, but we never had a bad meal in Winter Harbor. The outdoor area at the house was also ideal since the kids could play outside with a large yard area without fear of much (or any) traffic along Rand Ln.
This was a great place to stay. Very clean and quiet and we had a lot of room for the 4 of us. Owners were amazing to work with. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a pleasant experience, however the one draw back was the TV reception there was no NFL, NCAA, or Baseball and no locaL channels the set was maybe 20 inch.
House was clean, beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. Disappointed that there was not a smart tv and only an electric percolator coffee pot. Winter Harbor is a quaint town with shops and restaurants. Got fresh lobsters down by the harbor at the co-op and steamed them at the house. Delicious. Bar Harbor an hour away. Went to Acadia NP several times. Note that the ferry was closed in October. Bar Harbor whale watching we saw many whales on the trip. We enjoyed our stay.
Very clean and spacious place. Be aware that although both bedrooms are upstairs one of the bathrooms is downstairs. About 30 minutes to Ellsworth (the closest real town) that has grocery stores and other services, and about an hour to Acadia National Park. The house is almost across the street from a pretty good restaurant.
We had a blast in Maine and the house was so close to things we ready enjoy doing. The house had everything you need and more. We really appreciated everything. The lobsters from the co ops were fabulous. Maybe upgrade the TV for those rainy days but other than that, perfect!
We are 2 retired couples traveling together. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here on the Schoodic Peninsula. The home is well stocked and in a convenient location. The host was very responsive. We would stay here again, if we ever come back.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay in Winter Harbor.
We absolutely loved our stay here . The property is located in Winter Harbor, within walking distance to the grocery, stores and restaurants. The Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia is a short drive or bike ride away. Everything in the house was clean and easy to find. It had all we needed and more. The neighbors around the house were very friendly and offered good ideas for things to do in the area. We really appreciated how generous they were with tourists.
Wonderful place to stay in the Acadia National Park area. John and Anne are great hosts who were alway quick to respond to any inquires. It’s near enough to enjoy and explore the Bar Harbor area while still enjoying the tranquil Winter Harbor area. House has all the amenities for a week stay. Would definitely stay here again.
John & Anne’s cottage was lovely. Winter Harbor is a beautiful area and we enjoyed the quiet. The cottage was clean and the little extras provided were much appreciated. Renting from John & Anne was super easy and they are great hosts.
