Domaine de la Licorne - Font de Gaume cottage

Very well located to visit the area and very friendly owners. We really enjoyed discovering Dordogne from this quiet location.

We were greated by the owner's handsome son. He got us situated and explained everything to us. We had a great stay and were treated very well. We loved the wire sculptures! The only thing that I would suggest is to bring cash for payment. We were not aware of this when we checked in. Sincerely, Ginger Hahn

What a fabulous place to stay in! ... And such lovely hosts too, Henri-Louis and Cosima, we just loved staying. Everything you need is there... and more! Our hosts had provided little welcoming treats too... as well as plenty of information and maps about local things to do and all the utensils that you could need. The best part about this place is that it's located out in the country, so peaceful, quiet and relaxing. You could just keep drinking in that view and never get enough. The kids just loved the 'old farm' feel and exploring around the buildings and the games room. They wanted to stay on! Amazing how well the stone buildings insulate against the cold and there's a heater if you need it. For us Aussies from Queensland, it was much like our typical winter days, so we didn't use the pool, but it looked pretty inviting! Have to say that our French is fairly poor, but we were able to easily chat with Henri-Louis and Cosima and felt right at home with them. Even when I needed a couple of extra tools to use, they found them and loaned them to me, so I could complete a delicate task. We love the Perigord Noir and the Dordogne area and our stay here in Fond de Gaume made it our visit all the more memorable. Would definitely recommend it to any families planning to travel through France.

This is an excellent gîte, with a well-equipped kitchen and air conditioning in the lounge, which was very useful as the weather even in early June was very hot for the week we stayed here. For us the main selling point was the spectacular view that you were presented with when sitting out on the patio, looking down a valley and then up the opposite hill. We found the owners very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The new pool was superb for cooling off at the end of a hot day, with comfortable sun loungers ideal for topping up the tan. The location is more out of the way, making it a very peaceful setting surrounded by farming activity. From the gîte you could easily access the towns and villages along the Vézère, where you can enjoy canoeing, visiting caves and chateau, and much else, or visit the quaint old market town of Sarlat. Would definitely recommend this gîte, and hope to come back again some time.

We had a lovely stay (2 weeks) in this very well equipped and nicely decorated gîte. The weather was extremely hot, but the gîte had a wonderful airconditioning in the living room. The view was superb and the location is perfect for visiting the whole 'périgord noir'. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the pool was lovely with the extreme heat. We went to the supermarket of Montignac (15km to the north) for our groceries and for the lovely restaurants. But we also enjoyed Sarlat (15km to the south) for its market. We bought our daily bread in Saint Génies (7km) where you can also find a market on sunday morning. Every wednesday (july and august) they had a 'marché gourmand', a market where you could choose your food (pizza, grilled meat with 'pommes de terre sarlardaise' or french fries, creole cuisine, fresh macarons,... Great food and wine in a fantastic atmosphere!!

A delightful Gite in a wonderfully calm situation. Incredible views and surrounding countryside. The perfect place to recharge your batteries. The gite was perfect, had everything we needed and more. It's in a great position for visiting all there is to see in the region. The hosts were really friendly and helpful.
