Stunning views, a cosy cottage with everything and more that you can wish for. Great communication with the host, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Brilliant stay at Fern Cottage. Such a beautiful village and couldn’t dream of staying anywhere other than Doc Martin’s surgery for our first visit here. A great surprise for my partners birthday too! Cottage was clean and comfortable, we had no issues at all, check in process smooth as well with excellent communication with all info sent beforehand! A big thank you!

The cottage was wonderful and met all our needs. As fans of Doc Martin, we enjoyed Port Isaac and it was the best part of our trip to England.

Staying in this house was one of the highlights of our 3-week trip to the UK! We are Doc Martin nerds and just couldn't believe we were staying in the surgery. Of course, only the exterior was used for the television show. The house was clean and well-equipped (with coffee pods, not just tea). The bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Check-in was very easy with a combination lockbox. Be prepared for Doc Martin fans to take pictures right outside the windows. We even had a fan try to enter the front door! A big surprise was the NARROW lane that leads through town and up to the house. At the base of the hill that leads up to the house, we literally had three inches on either side of our car and the adjacent buildings. And, parking is on the little slab of stone that looks like a porch in front of the house. It takes a driver with skill and precision to park there. We parked there once and walked everywhere from there. The coastal path is stunning. Don't miss this walk. We also thoroughly enjoyed the local pubs - though we're tourists, we love mixing with the locals.

Beautiful cottage, but obvious downside is the connection with Doc Martin and constant tourist taking pics but i got used to that and i would have been doing the same!Only one little thing, couldnt get heating to work in chilly evenings But overall I absolutely loved my stay at the Doc's cottage

Charming and cosy base for exploring Port Isaac, hiking the South West Coast Path, and enjoying some of the best seafood in the UK, especially Outlaw’s New Road.

This was my first foray into VRBO and as a senior traveler in another country I would have appreciated the hostess leaving more information at my fingertips. For example: where the fuse box is when we lost power, what switch to run when we lost hot water, that only a very small compact car could possibly be managed to fit in front of the house and that on top of the rental fee we would have to park 15 minutes away and pay ourselves, do not open the bedroom windows as they will open for you, refrigerator and dishwasher are under the kitchen sink cabinets, and due to this being a tourist attraction, to always keep the door locked when you are in the home as tourists try to get in after taking a photo at the front door! The hostess did return my texts when things went wrong and did send her maintenance man to help us. He was remarkably kind! The home is compact but beautiful, was on my places to stay list and was very glad I was able to at this age and stage.

So why not 5 stars? Well it is 5 stars! For us personally there are 2 issues that are not the Host or the Cottage's fault, but detracted from the overall stay. The tourists are relentless and there is almost a constant stream taking pictures and talking (families and groups etc) at the front door and window. This is not something we gave too much thought to before booking, but was constant throughout our stay. We should have been more prepared for it, as it is Doc Martins Cottage!Second, if you have a big car (which we do), getting up the lane and into the parking, which is in front of the Cottage, will be challenging! Especially in busy times, 9am to 5pm. There is a lot of foot traffic (people, dogs, kids, buggies etc). Not impossible, just challenging. As a result, you will also not be too keen to move around with a big car during your stay. A mid sized car is advised and will make your stay far more comfortable.Everything else is 5 stars!Great cottage and the little garden above!Great location! Views are incredible! Great stay! Will definitely be back, but in the off season and in a smaller car :)

We were able to stay in this beautiful cottage in the picturesque sea town of Port Issac. Cottage was clean and updated and famous of course. The drive is tough through town but worth it when you get to the property for the view. Rent a smaller car so you can make the turns on these narrow streets. Will stay again.

We loved it; the cottage is clean and fully equipped, ample parking for our small VW. Lovely view of the village and beautiful walks. The sunrise and sunsets are spectacular. The host provided everything we needed for a wonderful 3-day stay.

Overall a good stay was good but the hedge out front had grown and block our million dollar view so that was disappointing. The plumbing became a problem when the downstairs toilet overflowed and no solution was found in time to fix it. We stayed here a few years ago and while This house is cute and well situated its overpriced now for the quality it delivers .

We had a wonderful, comfortable stay at Fern Cottage. As Doc Martin fans, we enjoyed seeing Port Isaac. Watching the tide go in and out was a show in itself and we got a kick out of watching people smile as they walked by the cottage, usually stopping to take photos.

If your a Doc Martin fan, and even if your not, the house, setting, and proximity to Port Isaac will not disappoint. Although the interior scenes were filmed elsewhere the interior is very warm and cozy and is very relaxing.Yes, you will have fans stopping and taking pictures. Some may even try to enter so key the doors locked. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it!

Overall a lovely property. Comfortable beds. Stunning views from the bedroom windows. The hot water was dissapointing, only having enough for one shower and then a 30-60 minute wait. Shirley (owner) did say it was a new system and they were looking to upgrade it.

We loved the cottage. It was extremely clean and comfortable I especially appreciated the crisp bed linen! The views are stunning and we can highly recommend The Mote and The Old Schoolhouse restaurants in Port Isaac. Do expect a lot of tourists taking photos outside the cottage. And don’t forget to lock the door once inside as we had a couple of tourists take photos at the front door and then try the handle and open it!

To stay in Fern Cottage was magic. We loved sitting on the landing upstairs and watching the harbour. It’s a lot more private up there. The passing tourists are annoying, especially when they come up the front steps and hang around, leaning on the dining room window.
