Great place , very nice and clean , only issue was the hot tub was not chemically prepared
We rented the large cabin up the street in addition to this for my daughter, SIL & granddaughter. Very much enjoyed their stay!
Cute and very clean.
Enjoyed the stay. Had everything we needed. The large and soft blankets by the couch a nice touch! Fun to stay in renovated school house with water view.
Overall, the schoolhouse is an impressive combination of original detailing with all-you-need modern amenities. The vintage floors provide character and charm. There is traffic noise from the busy road, if that keeps you up, but we slept soundly on the comfy beds. Roomy bathroom and well-designed kitchen are first rate, with lots of thoughtful touches, though kitchen only has a few basic pots and pans. One bedroom is open at the ceiling to the living area and the other bedroom is closed, so there is privacy, but keep that in mind. The driveway is shared and the neighbors were quiet, along with their dog. Our elderly pup relished her walks to the baseball field. The schoolhouse is located just across the road from the Lake Clarke area of the Susquehanna. Lovely sunrise views! Another reason why it ranks as one the cutest and most unique places we have rented. We highly recommend it!
Greatly enjoyed our stay, hosts thought of pretty much everything. What we liked: 1. Clean 2. Towels/linens/soap/shampoo provided. 3. Plenty of natural light and different layers of light for nighttime 4. Conveniently located, easy to find 5. K-cups provided for coffee maker, so you don’t have to buy 6. Plenty of parking 7. Nice, level yard that’s surprisingly tranquil given how close it is to the road. 8. Check-out instructions are ridiculously easy; we’ve stayed at places that had a full page of check-out instructions. Things to know: 1. Front door is VERY close to the road, and drivers zoom by. Stay in the back bedroom if you are a light sleeper. 2. House is a reconverted schoolhouse (it even has old-time Class Pictures of the students sitting out front!), and the owners took great pains to preserve its history. They did an amazing job, but be aware the floor is original too and some of the boards dip and are a little spongy. Keep an eye out if you have little ones learning to walk.
Enjoyed our weekend with our two girls. Luckily, you allow dogs which helps. I would stay there again.
A very nice place for some quiet time. (It may be different during the summer months.) Hiking trail and park nearby. Accomodations excellent.
Quiet. Very clean. Very nice stay and would definitely recommend
Very clean, convenient and allowed our dog to vacation with us instead of with boarder.
The place deserves more than 5 Starts.
this house was perfect for me. my husband and my service dog. kitchen had all the things we needed to cook meals, plenty of linen's in towels. The house was located near a park where I can walk my dog. it meant every need we needed. would stay here again.
My family of 3 and our dogs stayed for a couple of days in this beautifully renovated schoolhouse. My daughter loved playing school on the large chalkboards. We also enjoyed being right across the street from the lake. Would highly recommend for a small family.
The house was perfect for me and my husband and my service dog. it was clean. it was fully stocked. it had all the kitchen needs we needed. did not use the hot tub too busy. has a nice walking park close to it. so me and my dog enjoyed walking in the morning and in the evening. if we are in this area again we will rent this again.
Extremely clean. Great location. Centrally located between Lancaster, Hershey and Gettysburg. Hot tub relaxing. Loved being in an old school house. decor with original chalk boards so fun even for adults !!
The river is gorgeous to see the sunrise, moonlight, and all around excellent views. We enjoyed the nearby mason Dixon hiking trail, and Moon Dance Winery just down the road was a blast!!! Good wine and live music. The cottage itself didn’t feel clean. From the moment we arrived, the front and back porch were covered in hundreds of dead lantern flies. It should have been sweeped. There were dozens of live bugs inside the cottage— stink bugs, lantern flies, and centipedes. It was quite gross. Granted, we know we are staying in the woods. The cottage just didn’t feel clean. Because of the skeevy vibe, it was harder to enjoy the hot tub and outdoor area, because again, covered in bugs. The neighboring houses did not seem to have this issue at all. Would definitely return to the area, but not this cottage.
The property was beautiful. Well equipped. Had everything we needed. Loved being in. Walking distance of hiking paths. Short driving distance to many other hiking opportunities.
Stayed here for my birthday with my husband, Great location between Lancaster county and Hershey. The Turkey Hill experience just a couple of miles away. Right across from the river. Very clean, very quiet. The hot tub was newer. Would recommend to anyone.
We came here for our 10th anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised at how convenient the property is to shops and restaurants. The school house is very clean. This was a wonderful weekend. We would definitely love to go again. We had a great time visiting all that the area had to offer then enjoyed quiet on the property in clean, comfortable accommodations. Loved all the school house memorabilia. It was furnished with everything we needed.
We stayed at this property recently. It is centrally located between Gettysburg Lancaster and Hershey (in other words near plenty of attractions). The propert was fifty yards or so from Clarke lake which had some beautiful sunrises (separated by a road). It was clean and well stocked with supplies. The hot tub was great and clean. The building itself was an old schoolhouse and much of the interior decor was of that theme. (Including blackboards which my daughter had a blast drawing on with the provided chalk). The only issue was that the lighting was a bit dark. But not much so to significantly impact our stay.
