Cozy North Woods Cottage with Cobblestone Fireplace!

Love The Hawk--- beautiful setting and the stone fireplace and lovely rustic cottage vibe is the perfect winter getaway! This was our 6th year coming!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Hawk. The cabin was clean and cozy. Having the fireplace ready to be lit after a long drive was much appreciated. Carl was very responsive when we reached out and it’s clear they truly care about their cabins. If you’re looking for a cozy and quiet spot on the North Shore, North Country Cottages is exactly that!

The property was exactly what we expected. The cabin was cozy, clean, had everything we needed and a perfect location for our North Shore activities. Host communication was very good. We would recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin! It was clean, cozy and very north woodsy feeling. The cabin had all the amenities we needed and we loved that it was pet friendly. The close proximity to state parks and Grand Marais was great. The cabin does not, however, have a porch as pictured which was a bit of a bummer. There was also no communication from the host until the day of check-in, which was not ideal for us. Other than some communication challenges with the host, the cabin is quaint, quiet and lovely. A nice getaway and we would recommend!

The Hawk is a fantastic little cabin on the north shore on a quiet road with the sound of the lake in the background. As a heads up, the cabin is much smaller than the pictures seem to show, and the front porch no longer exists, but otherwise it was clean and comfortable! We will certainly be looking to come back soon!

My bestie and have been coming here since 2006–always in winter. It is the perfect place to decompress and be creative. The beds are comfortable; the cobblestone fireplace is amazing. The hosts are responsive and friendly yet very respectful of their guests’ privacy. The only thing we really miss are the two old recliners that used to face the fireplace. The current chairs are attractive but not especially comfortable, especially when you’re staying for a week and spending most of your time indoors. I always say our week in Lutsen is the best week of the year. Thank you!

Spent a weekend in December at the Hawk. Nice cottage, great location and overall a fantastic experience.

Very quiet beautiful and will do again

We had such a lovely weekend staying in the Hawk cabin. Everything was perfectly clean and even better than described. The hosts are so kind and had very quick and helpful communication. We loved the quiet location that was close to so many trails!

We have been coming for the last 4 years with our dogs and love our stay. It is close to everything and feels removed enough as well. Quiet, beautiful fire place. Well maintained and cozy.

The cottage was the perfect size for my husband and me. It was clean and in a very quiet area. Loved sleeping with the windows open. The location was fantastic! Not really that far from anything we wanted to do. Close to hiking and beaches. Host got back quickly with any questions I had.

This was our first time staying at the Hawk in the North Country Cottages. We have stayed in Little Loon and the Cedar many summers, but wanted to make sure we stayed at each cottage. The Hawk was perfect also! So peaceful, and so clean. Another little haven tucked in the woods.

Was great to find this place that we could also bring our dogs with. Great location between Lutsen and Grand Marais. Just be ready for small bedrooms and beds. We did miss our king sized bed. And hope that the deck is rebuilt soon!

My family, including our dog, so enjoyed our stay at The Hawk in Lutsen. The cabin is decorated perfectly and had everything that we needed. We appreciated the special touches, such as the fun stickers, and treats for our dog. The cabin is in a perfect location to explore Grand Marais and to take in local hikes. We especially enjoyed the Cascade River hike. Danni and Carl communicated with us before we arrived that the deck needs to be replaced and they created an outdoor space with chairs instead, which was just fine for us. I LOVED watching the hummingbirds enjoying the beautiful blooming rhododendron in front of the cabin. Such a treat! For families with children (young or adult), we all enjoyed the Putt n Pets mini golf in Grand Marais. We also liked eating at the Cascade Lodge, right up the road. The gallery and gift shop on the property is so well done with so many cute items. Thanks Danni and Carl! Wonderful family memories were made.
