This was a great cottage experience on Lake Champlian. Booking was easy. The agency/owner contacted me prior to the booking with all of the info I needed for the check in. The day of our arrival I recieved a text from the owner which was appreciated as it provided me with a simple way of communicating throughout the week if needed. The cottage was clean and well laid out for rentals and included ample supply of pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen supplies. There was also a crock pot, coffee maker, microwave and toaster. The linens provided were clean and the beds were comfortable. Having linens supplied is a fantastic feature due to the fact that there were 4 of us travelling from different households and trying to figure out who was bringing which linens for which beds would have been a pain. The cottage is on town water which makes the water safe for drinking and tasted fine so there is no need to bring bottled water. We were visiting Lake Champlain on a spring fishing trip and had two trucks and two large boats. There was ample parking for both boats and trailers and ability to charge the boats at night easily. The boat launch is 2 minutes away and has a paved launch and lots of parking. We were at the cottage during flood season so there were no docks installed at the lake yet. We knew this prior to renting but were still able to access the cottage from the water easily via the retaining wall at the waters edge. This was a great rental experience!
This lakeside house was the perfect little getaway! It was a beautiful and cozy spot for us for the weekend! Would definitely recommend!!
Our stay was lovely. We had excellent communication with John prior to our arrival and check in was easy. We were surprised that the master bedroom was kind of separate from the other two so the extra privacy was nice. The books and board games available for use were a really nice touch and we left an extra to add to the collection upon our departure. The kitchen cabinets were incredibly well stocked with dishes. The view of the lake was incredible and if you're lucky you'll even catch a duck family going in and out for the day. Those are all the wonderful positives and we would absolutely stay here again. Here are some of the things we wish someone had shared in a review so we would have been prepared for but not by any means a deal breaker. It's out in the middle of no where, and when people say that they mean it really is 12 minutes to the nearest gas station (this gas station is incredibly well stocked but stop on your way in don't think you can just bop back out to get something) it is so nice to have this privacy and peace and quiet. Another positive, it really is very quiet, we didn't hear the road or the neighbors the whole time we were there. Because it is out in the middle of no where small critters are par for the course. There is evidence that the host does a lot to mitigate those friends from making themselves at home inside. We did not see any critters inside while there just the bait/repellant/plug ins/etc.The floor is a bit drafty (again we went to VT in the winter, it's cold there, but just to be prepared) the thermostat self adjusts to lower the temp and it got pretty chilly (some nights the thermostat dropped to 63) and we had to change it in the middle of the night. The hot water in the shower also doesn't get very hot, so if you like hot showers please be prepared you will not have one here (literally my son's and my husband's only complaint of the whole stay). Overall this really is lovely. The host was incredible and responsive. This was our first VRBO experience and it was a very positive one. We hope you enjoy your stay here as much as we did!
What a lovely spot! It was quiet and peaceful - just what we were looking for. The house was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed. The owner was very nice, responding quickly to a question we had and offering information on a local orchard we wouldn't have wanted to miss! We loved every minute of our stay and hope to come back next year. Five stars plus!
Property was nice and quiet and beautiful on the lake. Pictures online are done artistically and make it look. A lot fancier than it is, still a cute little house. Backyard access to the lake was phenomenal, but they really need about 10 bug zappers because as soon as you exit the house your bombarded by menacing mosquitoes. You have to drive at least 30 mins for anythingggggg.
Nice fire pit, though because of all the rain, too many mosquitos. Beautiful moonlit evening on the dock.
Great place with beautiful views.
Immaculate cottage, serene lakefront setting, well equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway.
This home was located in a lovely setting with beautiful views. We enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity. We visited the area and enjoyed our time there.
Couldn’t ask for a better experience and first visit to Vermont. Won’t be the last that is for sure. Home was beautiful, amazing views, and a short ride to town whenever we needed anything. We’ll be back!
We had a great week staying here. The scenery was awesome and the evening fire pits were high points. We loved kayaking- it was difficult to get in and out of the water though. We enjoyed the historic sites and hiking in the area. The cottage was very comfortable and had almost everything we needed. The negatives were the property is more rustic than the pictures make it look, and the access to the water is very limited. We would definitely come back!
Nice cabin right on the lake beautiful views. In the middle of nowhere nothing close minimum 30 minute drive to find decent food. If you are looking for quiet peaceful vacation this is your place.
