Located in the quaint historic town of Silver Plume - founded in the 1860's during the gold and silver rush - the false-front main street and unpaved roads will take you back in time. Bread Bar - located in the former Sopp & Truscott Bakery which was established in the 1880's and operated as a bakery for over 100 years - is just a short walk down Main Street and offers unique libations, food and live music on weekends in an eclectic setting. Georgetown is two miles East on I-70 and has many restaurants, shopping, grocery supplies, and mine and rail tours. Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, back country ski touring, bird watching, wildlife viewing, rock and ice climbing are right outside the door.
Follow the back yard trail up to the Griffin Memorial monument and during the right time of year you may find some wild strawberries and raspberries or see a Big Horn Sheep or Mountain Goat. Or sit on the covered front porch with a cup of tea and enjoy the light on Sunrise Peak as the sun comes up or the hummingbirds as they migrate and play. Wherever your vacation takes you, Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage will become your home away from home.

The cottage itself was lovely. Well heated for our ski trip to the mountains. Being from the south we were worried we would freeze to death, but it was never an issue inside the cabin. Full kitchen, washer, dryer, 2 beds and a couch bed. Our wifi never worked. We searched for the router to reset it, and never found it. Im convinced its either at a neighbors house, or in the basement. Comcast TV never worked. Stayed on searching for signal all 5 days. There is also no cell service in the valley, because its a tiny strip of land surrounded by mountains. Good thing there were a few games in one of the closets, because we were bored to death with no tv, no cell service, and no wifi. The ski pass is the main reason we stayed. At $90 per day for a ski ticket, that was a huge help to our budget. Loveland is a great mountain to ski. About an hour away is Colorado adventure park, which has great tubing as well. The town of sikver plume is pretty dead. It was like a ghost town. No shops, stores, or restaurants were open. I think there is 1 little market, bit we couldnt tell if it was a grocery store, or a dispencery...The noise is bad. Its about 100 yards from the interstate, so you have big trucks ALL NIGHT LONG using their engine break going down the mountain. Between that and the rock hard beds, we got zero sleep. We would consider staying there again only if we were skiing every day, simply for the free pass. The lack of sleep and lack of outside connection do make it difficult
We LOVED our stay here. It was our first time to Colorado and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Darcee and her family were so kind and accommodating. We cannot wait to come back!
Had a great time for Thanksgiving. The property is very cute with a charming personality. We would definitely book again.
Great house in little mountain town. Very clean, nice beds. Would stay again!
I stayed at this house for 2 nights for a wedding, and my overall experience was positive. The house is charming and well-equipped, meeting all our needs. However, the downside was the beds – both guestroom mattresses were old and sinking in the middle, and the pillows desperately needed replacing. The pull-out couch was in poor condition, lacking proper padding. My friends were unable to sleep on the couch and had to bring in a pad from their camper van to sleep on the floor. We even had to pay an extra fee for people to sleep on it, which was disappointing. With some mattress and pillow upgrades, this could be an excellent VRBO option.
Perfect place and location for exactly what we were looking for, peace and beauty.
We had a great time here. Comfortable beds, great location, plenty of towels and other amenities. We would happily stay here again!
This place was everything we wanted and more. It is easy to get to and the little town was quaint and friendly. While there were no restaurants in Silver Plume, Georgetown is 2 miles away and had lots of great options. We really enjoyed our stay here and we will be back to hike another fourteener next year!
The cottage worked out well for our purpose this weekend. Clean, convenient to local restaurants in Georgetown, and our host was very responsive. Only thing I would improve was the seating on the porch, needed something a little more relaxing that I could have napped in.. overall a great place
Great place and owner was very responsive.
Very cozy and quaint - loved the retro feel of the house. It was the perfect location for us to attend a concert at red rocks. We also enjoyed the local history - plume coffee and bread bar. We hope to return someday!
Nice quiet charming rustic miner's cabins with all the amenities. Very clean and close to all the Summit county resorts, without having to navigate the Summit county congestion while resting. Highly recommended!
Darcee was a great host. We enjoyed the stay.
Perfect location to Loveland. Enjoyed the home.
We have a family tradition of skiing the day after christmas. We love coming to the mountains. I loved your home. Thank you for having everything available.
We spent the week the week of Christmas at Darcee and Eben's cottage to ski up the road at Loveland. It was fantastic. The cottage has a coziness factor of well over 9000. It was particularly cold during our stay (-5 - 10F), and the cottage stayed toasty warm. It's situated in Silver Plume and not subject to the hustle/bustle you get when you stay at resort. Some nights we ate in and others we ventured down I-70 East 1 mile to the Georgetown exit and ate a Copper's on the Creek. We can't wait to stay here again.
We came down for the weekend to ride the loop railroad and do some hiking. This was the perfect location to get to trailheads, easily head into town to explore and have dinner and to get to the railroad. The house was cozy and had everything we needed for the weekend. The electric fire was especially welcome after really cold days outside!
wonderful place, very clean, and had a great stay
Fireplace inoperable, smoke detector missing, throw rugs in bad condition (we gathered and threw in a corner to eliminate trip hazard), one burner on stove inoperable, toilet running, etc.
Perfect mountain location for a weekend hiking getaway. Easy drive from Denver Airport. Georgetown and Idaho springs are within a 5-15 drive for dining and shopping. The cottage was a quaint and quiet place for us to wind down after our hiking adventures. The patio was beautiful and the coffee shop down the street was a lovely find!
We loved staying here! The area was so peaceful and relaxing with so much to see and do. The house was very cozy and had everything we needed. I especially loved the back patio and front porch areas of the house. We hope to come stay here again!
My daughter lives in south Dakota and I live in Pennsylvania. We were meeting there for vacation and seeing MT daughter for the first time in 2 years. We all loved the small town with the easy access to two of the bigger cities. Thank you for having such a wonderful vacation.
It was a beautiful location but the house was very old and creaked alot. The neighbors just kept walking by staring at us we waved no response. I went to the park at about 9pm with my children and a huge white pitbull tried to attack us!!! It was okay but we won't be going back.
