Cozy Beach Retreat with Resort & Beach Access

We LOVE this resort! It was so much fun on Labor Day weekend. The staff was friendly and very responsive. The community was great. The pool was still warm enough. The park was also amazing! My kids loved every minute and cried when we left. The short walk to the lake from our property (by the office) was perfect. We did find a few spiders in the guest house which is not their fault and may have been the time of year. I didn’t realize we booked the guesthouse when I booked but it was great for a short stay with good weather for a family of 4! Not much room to kick back and relax.

The outside furniture which I understand will be replaced is so rusty, I can’t imagine sitting on it. We like the location and for that reason will likely stay again. Please do not use my comments for any reason even by referring to my location. Any friend recommendation would be with a caveat about need for update. I think it is fair to say couch needs to be cleaned if not replaced.

It is small but has two bedrooms (one is very small with bunk beds, good for kids) and a washer/dryer, which came in very handy for a beach vacation. Contrary to the info we were given, there was no dishwasher, but we really didn't miss it. The location was great - a short block to the pool and coffee shop, just off the main road. A few things to consider - it is on the second floor so be prepared to climb the stairs. The deck is small and the deck furniture is metal so not very comfortable. Inside, as it is small, there is limited seating. The couch was not very clean. The single non-kitchen chair was very old, with no springs left. Sitting in it was very uncomfortable. It would be nice if they replaced it with a newer one. We stayed only a few nights and it was just the two of us, so it was fine. With more people, or for a longer stay, it would not be our choice. We must add - the people onsite were very nice and helpful. We called maintenance for one small thing and someone came right away and solved the issue.

Easy checkin and the place was clean.That said, it was very outdated. Furniture was old, beds uncomfortable. Bathroom and cabinets not in great shape. Doors would not lock. Fireplace would not work. One small tv on the floor. Deck wood was old with splinters. BBQ did not look like something we wanted to cook on. Overall, I would not recommend anyone to stay there.

We love all of the amenities of the resort and the accessibility to Lake Michigan. The vacation can be as relaxing or as adventurous as you want! Only complaint is our first night there was a loud party in the house next door on Austin that went from 9:30-11pm with loud music and singing.

The property doesn't over-promise and it worked out great for our purpose, which was to have a home base while visiting family nearby. While the kitchen and deck were great to have, I would't plan on spending too much time in the house as it is quite small! Great deck, relative privacy for the development. The Beachwalk resort itself seems good for families, we were a bit out of place as a group of four adults! Awesome beach access. Certainly preferable location-wise as compared with hotels in Michigan City or other properties with difficult access to beaches and local amenities.
