The Lodge is an ideal base for exploring Northumberland’s top attractions, including:

Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Garden – just 10 minutes’ drive

Bamburgh Village and Castle, home to the Grace Darling Museum

Lindisfarne (Holy Island) – steeped in Anglo-Saxon history

For golf enthusiasts, nearby courses include Alnmouth Village Golf Club, Warkworth, and Foxton, while cyclists and walkers will appreciate the many scenic routes in the area. We proudly hold Visit Britain awards for Families Welcome, Walkers Welcome, and Cyclists Welcome.

Excellent Transport Links

Alnmouth benefits from its own mainline railway station, with regular direct services south to Newcastle and Durham and north to Edinburgh, making it ideal for car-free holidays or day trips.

A little further afield, Beamish Open-Air Museum in County Durham offers a fascinating insight into life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s and is well worth a visit.

Home from Home-everything we needed and more. Christine and her team have thought of everything and with extra little touches-extra cutlery, crockery, vast variety of cooking utensils and more. Midwood Lodge was so comfortable and clean and lovely surprise greeted with a welcoming gift. Really appreciated the information on variety of ideas on what to see and do locally and further afield especially as first visit to Northumberland, this was also so well communicated prior to holiday. A week was not long enough, so much to see and do, amazing castles, beautiful coastline and countryside, friendly, welcoming people-we will be returning, and certainly would stay again at Midwood Lodge

What a lovely property. So spacious, immaculate warm and cosy. The owners have thought of everything. We will be back and would definitely recommend. Owner very helpful and thoughtful. Loved the kind welcome pack too. Thankyou Christine and family for a lovely stay in your lodge. We will be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at Midwood lodge ... our only disappointment was that we couldn’t stay for longer. The lodge is so well located, spacious and very well equipped. Perfect for a family stay with the tree house and toys provided. Christine and Louise were so welcoming and friendly, the whole process of booking etc was very easy.

This property is of the highest standard you could wish for. Extremely well looked after and nothing too much trouble from Christine and Louise. The price was great and can't recommend this property enough. Lots of personal touches we felt that they had really taken the time and trouble to make us feel so welcome. Absolutely fantastic will definately recommend this place to everyone and will certainly be back. Thank you so much.

We loved our visit to Alnmouth and the Northumberland coast and countryside. Midwood Lodge is very spacious and we loved the wood burning stove. It is in a quiet location but just a short walk to the village. We loved watching the wildlife in the garden too. Everything we needed was available and we will definitely be back to stay. Thank you so much for all the extra touches.

We loved that we could walk into town for a meal with no worries about driving and parking. The lodge is spacious and very comfortable for the two of us. Christine was helpful and solicitous. There is a delightful welcome assortment of goodies, which set the tone for a relaxing stay.

We went with our toddler and we all were incredibly comfortable. There were jigsaws, books, DVDs to watch. The garden was regularly visited by birds. There was a playground just down the village (and down lover's walk). It was very restful and pleasant. The house had lots of information available about the heating and bins etc. Plenty of kitchen equipment too. Fabulous place to stay - we'll be coming again!
