Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. AuTrain River Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages are pet friendly and range from one bedroom to 3 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like WiFi, towels, linens, blankets, pillows and cooking supplies. Included in your stay is a gas grill with propane, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, hand soap, dish soap, as well as coffee filters for our regular drip coffee maker. We don't provide toiletries.

There is a fire-pit area for guests to enjoy a fire w/a view of the river and wood can be purchased locally. Also included one free standard kayak rental from Da Ya Shak. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. Additional kayaks are available for rent.

The Cedar Cottage was my first cottage, I completely updated the interior and exterior of this place in 2009. It is perfectly setup for couples. The kitchen is fully stocked, there is A/C, WiFi and there is a 32 TV where you can sign into your own streaming service or free streaming included with the TV. The bedroom has a pillowtop Queen which is very comfortable. Overall, it has tons of character as the walls are all original pine from the 1940's and overall has that UP feel. I have been told it's very cabiny, cozy and cute.... Lounge on the deck, or down by the river! It is my most popular cottage among the 7 available.

The AuTrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing/kayaking as it winds 12 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful AuTrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore located in Munising is only 15 minutes away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. If you are into fishing, Trout and Salmon are the most commonly fished in Lake Superior.

I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay.

The cabin is small, but efficiently arranged with everything you need. The bed is comfortable and the hot water in the shower is amazing! And the neighborhood is quiet and scenic, just a short drive to numerous restaurants and things to do!

The cabin is a bit older, but was sufficient just for the 2 of us. Really wasn't a good space to put our big suitcase. Everything was clean and all the supplies we needed were there (coffee, filters, silverware, etc.) but we had trouble finding the trash bags! Contacted the host and did get a quick response. Location was convenient.

Was great property the first night was a little cold couldnt find the operational manuel for the gas fireplace and was extremly tired from the 8 hr drive but it was in the cabinet in the yahtzee box for some odd reason and not left out with all the other instructions and rules but had heat the second day. Tried calling but the voice mailbox was full. Other than that everything else was perfect.

Decent cottage in a great location--We really enjoyed kayaking on the Au Train river and hiking near Pictured Rocks. This cottage is not directly on the river; it's maybe 100 ft away. Quiet and private. The kitchen is fine but small with a minimal set of pots and utensils. The tap water has an odor--we used bottled water for drinking. The Au Train grocery store had all the necessities. The included kayak rental covers a single kayak or $25 credit toward other rentals at Da Yak Shack. As long as you're not expecting high luxury, you'll really enjoy the cottage and surroundings.

Everything was great. But the mattress was the only thing that could have been better.

We were very excited about this last minute trip to Pictured Rocks. We called the property a day ahead and let them know we would be arriving late, after normal office hours. They gave instructions and said it would be no problem at all. Unfortunately, when we arrived our cottage was occupied. There was no answer from the property manager. The areas hotels were completely booked. After a 5 hour drive our only option was to sleep in our car. We checked into a local hotel the next afternoon. The manager refunded the money promptly but, said he had no idea how it was double booked. So, beware of late arrivals and double bookings!!

If you would like peace and quiet in a beautiful part of our country, this is the place. It’s a little rustic cottage (or as rustic as you can get with air conditioning and WiFi). Located near the Au Train river and Lake Superior, this cottage is a great jumping off point for kayaking or just experiencing some peace. The cottage was clean and well appointed for one or two people. An excellent guidebook to the area was provided. I would recommend this spot to anyone who needs to get away for awhile.

Only thing that bummed us out was that there were no darts for the dart board, I was excited for that. Otherwise day 1 we didn't have water but they worked with us and allowed us to shower, then fixed it the next day. Absolutely amazing spot and loved the views

The host left an amazing binder with all the information we could possibly need about the surrounding waterfalls and hikes. It also included information about whether it was a pet friendly trail or not. The cabin had everything we would need to cook and sit down to a meal. It was very clean. The neighborhood was nice and safe.

I have communicated with the host about the condition of the rental. Address location was midway between Munising & Marquette, making Au Train the ideal location for touring. No river view from Cabin #2.

This property had a good bed, but was in rundown condition. The sink was peeling and grungy, the stove with much porcelain chipped, the stove fan greasy and rusting and the kitchen cabinets are rusty. The rest of the cabin has a quaint, quirky feel, but the kitchen area is just unacceptable. We left early as we could not be comfortable there. We were very disappointed.

Everything was clean and comfortable. Cozy little cabin was perfect for 2 adults and our dog. Loved the rustic feel. Also we liked the town and neighbors. I wouldn’t describe property as waterfront though a small river channel is visible. Beach access is a quick drive. Appreciate the communication w/ the property owner.

We truly enjoyed our time, and were thankful for this little cabin that had just what we needed. A great location for our play activities. Enjoyed the beach just a few miles away, saw lots of waterfalls, did some hiking, and had some great food. It included the best guest information book we’ve ever experienced at a rental property! So much great information about the local area. There was so much more we could’ve done if we had stayed longer. The host was responsive and check in/out was simple. The AC worked great the one night that we needed it. It was clean with the basics provided.

We were very Impressed with the visitation book. It was very thorough, with QR codes for places to eat, all the falls, information with options of what to do.It helped us plan our stay. The location was very peaceful and about 20 minutes from Musing. We loved that we were able to bring our fur baby.

Myself, my friend and his dog stayed for 3 nights over a weekend and really enjoyed it. Very well located in proximity to all the sights we wanted to see along Lake Superior and the UP. Cabin itself was very clean and decently equipped, the only thing we commented is it could use an over the faucet caddy in the shower to hold toiletries, and bring your own drinking water. The little neighborhood was a bit dark but that allowed us to see the Northern Lights one evening. I'd come back in the summer and use the river access and beaches again for sure.
