Stayed Oct 9, 2025Lovely place right on the lake very private. We went to take in the Fall foliage. It is centrally located between Brandon and Middlebury making it an easy drive to Shelburne Farms and Museum and Burlington (Lake Champlain). The house has everything you need for a wonderful getaway to Vermont.

Stayed Aug 23, 2025We were very happy with this house and location. The lake is beautiful, so peaceful, and just what we needed to decompress from city living. The house was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake and taking long walks in the area. The only mismatch with the listing was the need to bring linens and towels, though Colin, the owner, let us know about this before our stay. Communicating with Colin was easy and we were pleased with his prompt replies. We would happily stay here again.

Stayed Jul 26, 2025We had the most week! We are a family of 5- plenty of room for all of us. The screened in porch was great forbreakfast. Fern lake is the most peaceful lake we haveever been on! There was great fishing and caught lots ofbass and bluegills. The kitchen had all the essentials. The location is ideal with Middlebury only 20 minutes away and Brandon 12 minutes south. Good restaurants close by and a great Farm stand close as well. Lots of hikes close by. Colin was very responsive and very easy to work with.Cant Recommend this place enough. We look forward tobeing able to hopefully come back again.

Stayed Jun 28, 2025There was more than enough space for our family of 5 to spread out for downtime after taking advantage of all the fun amenities… boats, docks, fishing, etc. Don’t foresee it being our last time staying at this location!

Stayed Jun 23, 2024Everything about our stay on Fern Lake was perfect. The location is amazing, the house is cozy and has everything you need (only exception is you bring your own linens). The kids loved minnows nibbling on their toes. Easy access to Lake Dunmore, Brandon, and Middlebury. Hope to come back again next summer!

Stayed Sep 27, 2023Fern Lake is a small, hidden treasure conveniently located near Middlebury/Burlington to the north and Rutland to the south, with a scenic trip through one of the gaps access Mad River Valley. The area around the home is quite beautiful and is serene and comfortable. The house is nice - not luxurious but fully functional and easy to live in. The owners are very quick to communicate and attentive to whatever we needed to ask about. We loved morning coffee staring at the lake and evening conversation while sitting near the fire and staring at the lake.
