Angola, Indiana
Fortunate are we that this unique, hundred year old cottage has been lovingly restored and preserved for a special week at the lake! Live in modern comfort while experiencing simpler times when family gathered together to splash in the cool water by day and laze around a campfire in the evening. Or take your speed boat or jet ski out for some fast fun in the sun.
There's plenty of space to play here and a pier available to dock your own boat, kayak or jet ski. Enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake from the deck at the top of the hill. Or relax lakeside on the front porch that opens off the lower level bedroom. Crooked Lake is an 802 acre ski lake with plenty of bass, walleye, crappy and bluegill. There is a public boat ramp in the Steuben County Park or boats can be launched at the Casey's Cove Marina for a small fee. Also nearby is Pokagon State Park, Angola IN and antique shopping in southern Michigan.
River Rock Cottage sleeps 8 in 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Upstairs you will find the Master Bedroom with Queen bed, 2 small additional bedrooms have full beds and there is a full bath (small old tub, no shower). The lower level bedroom which is accessed by a tight spiral stair has 2 twin beds and a full bath with shower. The half bath is on the main level off the kitchen.
115' of lakefront makes for perfect swimming and it's shallow enough that even the youngest will enjoy the water. Bring plenty of beach towel and your own floats, floaties and life preservers please.
The Family room has TV with a blue ray player, Wi-Fi and basic cable. The home is NOT handicapped accessible. NO pets please!
Close to Pokagon State Park, Trine University, local wineries, breweries and all that Steuben County Indiana has to offer.
Great place! Quaint with enough modern conveniences. Dock was available for our rented pontoon. Pretty good fishing too. Great family vacation
This cottage was the perfect location for extended family who came to attend a wedding held lake side just across the lake. Crooked Lake is a beautiful setting and this house is a gem!
This property absolutely took me back to the lake cottages of my youth. Quaint, but with just the right amount of modern convenience and peaceful treehouse views. Our hosts were easy to contact and quick to reply. Mattresses were high quality and the furniture was comfy. We enjoyed all the great spaces to drink coffee and serve meals outside. It was our ideal summer vacation. We can’t wait to come back.
It's my fault for not asking more questions. Very nice place but not kid friendly at all. Only one shower for eight people was not good. The winding staircase was very difficult to navigate. Small refrigerator so we had to pack it and then our food froze. It was also hard to sit around the firepit as it was on an incline. As I said...my fault for not doing more research on this property.
Comfortable house with all the amenities you could want for a relaxing getaway! Five minute drive to Caruso's Italian for dinner out and The Social for ice cream. Plenty of room indoors and outside for our 3 cars, 5 adults and a 3 year old. It would easily sleep 8 in the comfortable beds. The porch off the downstairs bedroom is a perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon naps and evening nightcaps. The firepit was ideal for making smores. The lake was beautiful, quiet and shallow enough at the dock for little ones and grown ups to wade in. Note that there are a lot of inside and outside stairs, so I wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues. All in all, its a perfect place to enjoy a quiet lake getaway!
Our family got together at this beautiful cottage for the week. Beautiful view of Crooked Lake. They had very nice amenities within the cottage. Pier was available for our boat and nice little swim area. We would definitely stay here again!
Had a great time enjoying the lake and beautiful property.
Place was clean and well taken care of. My family had an amazing time.
This is my second time staying at this beautiful historic cottage on Crooked lake. I absolutely love the ambience, location and view of this place! The porch, fire pit, sandy beach, pier and large deck is all perfect!!! Thanks for sharing!
When I was a child my family visited Crooked lake often. We stayed in a cottage. As soon as I walked through the door of RRC I was immediately reminded of my childhood. This place is amazing it has the updates for a family living in 2020, but still maintains a true cottage feeling. We can not wait to go back. Beach is shallow, and good for swimming. Parents may want to get little ones swim shoes because it is a little rocky.
