Stayed Jun 7, 2026Older house but very well appointed. We literally did not need anything when we arrived. There are even life jackets and paddles for use on the 5 lakes on the property. There is a nice pool open for use. The permanent residents we met were all very friendly. The back porch is worth the price of admission! We would love to return for another stay (we were in the area for a wedding).

Stayed Apr 23, 2026We loved the house. The only thing I regretted upon checking out was that we didn’t hike any of the gorgeous, perfect for us, trails. We had a map that clearly marked them all. We were too busy chilling. The kitchen was supplied with everything you would need to prepare anything. The Host was genuine and knowledgeable. I don’t believe we used the laundry except to add towels and sheets when we left. Were planning on returning next year so I hope the house is still for rent. Thanks so much! Please don’t change anything.msusanvo@icloud.com

Stayed Oct 27, 2025We enjoyed our stay at the Flying Squirrel Lodge. It was comfy and cozy, with a nice view from the porch. The kitchen was well stocked for our needs and the bathroom heater came in handy on cold mornings. The neighborhood had nice trails and we saw deer multiple times. We did have problems with our Verizon cellphone service during most of the stay and could not use them until we drove about 10 minutes from the cabin. Other than that it was a convenient location for favorite hiking spots and nice restaurants in Brevard.

Stayed Oct 19, 2025My problem was not have WiFi access for my arrival. We had no internet, no phone service for 1st 3 days. After several messages to owner we finally got the WiFi password on day 3. Why wasn’t WiFi password available in the house upon arrival. I was told to get messages and email from the internet. Well you can’t do that if you don’t have internet service (WiFi psssword).

Stayed Aug 4, 2025My extended family held a week-long reunion with most members staying in Sherwood Forest outside of Brevard, NC. The Flying Squirrel Lodge is adjacent to a home my parents lived in for 30 years so it brought back a lot of wonderful memories. Apart from that, however, the Lodge is beautifully and very sturdily built, has a nice deck overlooking Trout Lake, has very functional kitchen, bath, and laundry facilities, was quite clean, and very easy to use in every way. Communications with the owner were prompt and excellent. The living/dining room is spacious, well appointed, and was able to hold 29 of us one night for a family dinner. Sherwood Forest itself has at least five lakes, a swimming pool and recreational facilities, many hiking trails and is beautiful! Our experience was outstanding in every way!

Stayed May 9, 2025This was the second time we stayed at this cottage. The neighborhood is phenomenal and the lake is gorgeous. The walking trails are literally outside the back door. The cottage had everything we needed as our base of operations while we visited for our annual fly fishing trip. Will definitely stay again.

Stayed Sep 24, 2024We enjoyed our stay, except Hurricane Helene happened and knocked power out. Neighbors with generators were very nice and helpful, even inviting us to stay. It was a freakish situation, flashlights plugged into wall worked but weather radio and flashlight in closet had old/no batteries. Neighbor gave us candles and we played scrabble. We were running out of food and managed to drive out after getting advice from someone at firehouse. One caveat: if you have dust/pet allergies, bring covers for furniture, which is upholstered. It’s a lovely setting with many walks and canoeing nearby. We didn’t have cell service even before the stirm. .
