Charming 'Nantucket' Style Beach Cottage

I grew up in Ventura and came back for a wedding, and this cottage was the perfect home base. We were never more than 10 minutes from anywhere we needed to be. .It was a busy week, but whenever we had a little downtime, we could slip away and walk less than a minute to the beach. We loved watching kids play with their dogs, surfers chase the perfect wave, and, in the early mornings, pods of dolphins pass just offshore. I even managed to squeeze in 20 minutes of body surfing. We truly savored every moment..The cottage felt both larger and cozier than expected. There was plenty of room to reconnect with old friends, and we spent several evenings lingering around the fire pit. The towels were thick and luxurious, and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook, eat, and enjoy ourselves. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I can also vouch for the couch and the outdoor lounge, where I found myself relaxing in the sun, listening to doves and watching hummingbirds in the trees. The entire space felt peaceful and restorative..I did need to work a little during our stay. The Wi-Fi was strong, even outside, and easily handled everything I needed. While there isn’t a dedicated remote-work setup, the backyard table worked well for occasional tasks..If you’ll have us, I’d love to make this my home away from home whenever I’m in Ventura. The property is clean. The kitchen is well stocked. The garage has two beach chairs, an umbrella, and a boogie board with no leash. The backyard is beautiful with lots of places to rinse sand off. The location is close to the beach on a quiet street. The hot water heater is a bit small and can only sustain short showers. There is no A/C so be prepared. It would be nice if a few more windows had screens so they could be left open all night.

Wonderful place. The kitchen gadgets and pots and pans were - well like we have at home. It's obvious the owner stays here and like a good functioning kitchen. Thank you!The beach access! The backyard with fire pit! All wonderful. We'll definitely be back.

Owner was very responsive. Kitchen fully stocked. Relaxation spaces indoor and outdoor were quite ample and enjoyable. Walk to beach and Duke’s beach grill. Drove 10 minutes to Ventura harbor with shops? Restaurant and National Park visitor center. Very convenient to boat trips to whale watch or land on Channel Islands National Park

Cozy and comfortable cottage walking distance to restaurants, the grocery store and, of course, the beach. Great value for the price.

We absolutely LOVED it! The house is literally one minute from the beach (maybe 45 seconds...) and it is the perfect spot for a quiet beach vacay. This was the most fully equipped house I've rented, we literally didn't want for anything! It may seem like a really small touch, but it was so nice to have some ice cold filtered water waiting for us in the frig as soon as we walked in the door. Ventura was having a bit of a heat wave when we were there and we were a bit toasty in the house. We knew it didn't have AC, but hadn't even thought that we might need/want it. Luckily the host had multiple fans available that made things comfortable. The backyard is the best! Sitting outside with coffee in the morning and listening to the hummingbirds chatter became part of our daily routine. At night we'd enjoy a glass of wine while watching the stars pop up overhead. Thank you!! It was wonderful and we are looking forward to going back again soon.

The house and location were both excellent. Just me and my wife, so the one bedroom one bath worked out great.

We came in to town for work & house hunting. Kim was awesome about sharing the details we needed to get settled in for our almost 2 week stay. She sent great recs for local food & cocktails as well. The neighborhood is fantastic and neighbors super friendly! The backyard is its own oasis… we opened the back door every night to hear the waves crashing. The beach is a few houses away, and there’s so much you can walk to. The house itself is very comfortable and easy to enjoy. We will stay again; highly recommend!

Only a short block from the beach was perfect for us. Very comfortable house in a very quiet neighborhood. The best stocked rental property we have seen.

This cottage was very comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and roomy. The large bedroom closet was great! The shower needed some work causing the hot water to be used up too quickly. However I sent a note to the host so it should be fixed.

My husband and I had a great time in Ventura and enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The house has everything we needed to feel comfy and welcome. Kim was a great host and answered all of our questions immediately. We definitely would love to stay again at this cottage.

Super super nice place. Close to the water. Was working in Santa Barbara so the drive was super easy and beautiful. Definitely recommend a stay at this spot. Very cozy and the surrounding area is very nice. Ventura is a cool spot.
