Kingston, Kingston
Beautiful and tranquil Kingston is the perfect place for quality relaxation yet so central to the action and vibe of Queenstown.
This North facing cottage catches the sun and offers a beautiful and quaint place to base your Queenstown Lakes adventures or an excellent place to just rest and relax.
One of Kingston’s very first homesteads, this property is really unique. It is Kingston's only true lakefront residence (no roads to cross to access the beach/lake), is sheltered from the Northerly winds and has a small stream flowing through the garden to the lake. With 2 large comfortable beds providing a great sleep for up to 4 guests, the property is thoughtfully furnished and appointed while retaining the unique and rustic charm that really sets it apart from other accommodation options.
Enjoy the silence and stunning mountain and water views from the deck. Enjoy a wine and a good conversation with the doors opened to the garden or if the weathers bad perhaps watch some big screen TV in front of the wood fire.
Take a stroll along the waterfront to our local ‘Flyer’ Cafe/ Pub for a drink, a bite to eat or a takeaway pizza to take back and enjoy in front of the fire.
Great location for summer AND winter with only a 30 minute easy drive to Frankton/Queenstown and just 20-25 minutes to the Remarkables Ski Area access road.
MINIMUM BOOKING = 3 Nights (or equivalent $ for shorter stays)
Some Special conditions:
SMOKING IS ALLOWED outside only.
No tents/campervans or outdoor living on the property.
Outdoor fireplace is not available for guest use. Official fire bans are frequently in force in the area.
Extras: Linen (Required, NZ$50.00 per stay);
NOTE: Under Kiwi crib tradition guests are expected to clean and tidy the house and do the dishes, leaving the property in the same condition as when they checked in.
Perfect little bach extremely well maintained and understandably cherished by the owners. Comfy and warm beds, easy access to the lake for a swim or a walk. A bit of a drive to Queestown and other activities available in the region but the drive is so beautiful and it feels good retreating from the crowd !
Ideal location for cycling eastern sections of the Around the Mountain cycle trail. Only reason I marked accuracy of listing as a 3 is that the photo labelled Charming Lakefront Cottage Retreat with large sheltered garden and stunning view is not the view from the cottage. The cottage is nestled in trees with only a narrow gap to lake and Mountains beyond. On the plus side it's very sheltered from the wind.
Charming and peaceful
We loved staying at this cottage by the lake. It was quiet, private, had a lovely garden, log burner, and everything we needed. We appreciated the detailed instructions provided and that everything worked as explained in the instructions!
We had a very pleasant stay, the place was clean cosy with a beautiful view of the lake and Mountains.
Exceptionally clean and beautiful little cottage. Stayed during winter and was a little chilly but once you get the fire ripping it was perfect. The home owner was extremely polite and helpful when we had an issue with the TV which we managed to resolve quickly. Overall a lovely stay and highly recommend.
Cute little cottage with amazing views! Had an issue with Fire furnace the first night, but owners got it sorted the next day, great communication and follow up!! Thanks for an amazing stay!
Time spent here was lovely and warm once the fire was going.Location was good for our intentions as was mid way. Enjoyed by my family.
The cottage was very comfortable and convenient to the fly fishing we were doing. Beautiful views and a great place for walks.
We enjoyed our stay the home was warm with a free flow style without the house. The beds are comfortable and cozy, our Grandson age 8 an half loved it with plenty of room to explore. Was very excited that it had a full equip kitchen to cook dinner, fire place was a bonus as we only have heat pumps at our own place. Very accommodating to change and easy to communicate with, I would recommend staying and I would book again. Thanks for sharing your home with us ?
Such a beautiful cottage, tastefully designed, in an idyllic location. Enjoyed our stay immensely. Would highly recommend.
Not much of anything in Kingston which meant driving the mountain pass to get to Queenstown. The local store was out of everything and the gas station didnt take American credit cards with chips. The cottage is cute and historic, but dated and the view is mostly blocked by trees and bushes. The main source of heat is a wood burning stove (39 the morning we left), although the bedrooms and bathroom have electric heaters. Having said that, we had a nice time and enjoyed our stay.
The photos tell the story. Property was clean. beautifully furnished and was a perfect end to a hectic two week trip around the South Island. Garden was great for our boys to let off steam, they loved having a dip in Lake Wakatipu only a few steps away from the back fence. The Kingston Flyer Cafe was great l, as was the walk up to the lookout behind. A lovely quiet village with knockout views of the lake and mountains, a great counterpoint to Queenstown at the other end of the lake.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Mark’s beautiful little cottage. The living/dining and kitchen area was very stylishly decorated by his wife with lovely private green lawn and garden surroundings. Just outside the garden gate is the lake foreshore and beach area with stunning views of the lake and mountains. The Kingston location was a very peaceful, beautiful contrast to the upbeat, commercial and busy tourist feel of Queenstown which was about half an hour’s drive away. Mark was a friendly and responsive host. We definitely recommend his place to anyone looking for a lakeside getaway who would appreciate and care for this special home.
We had a lovely stay in Kingston. The accommodation was clean and wonderfully well presented in a great private setting.
Clean, cosy and with all the necessary elements to make your stay comfortable and hassle free. A great base for fishing rivers to the south or for staying out of the main part of Queenstown.
Awesome spot, best location in the town right on the lakefront. Really well done with comfy up to date living with out losing the heritage features. Highly recommend.
Very well presented historic cottage tastefully decorated and pragmatically arranged. We had all we needed to feel as if we had been invited to a friends home by the beautiful lake surrounded by awe inspiring mountain ranges. Lovely gardens and friendly neighbours. Would certainly come here again.?
We truly enjoyed our stay at this quaint little character cottage in Kingston. Although we had to cut short our stay due to medical issues we loved staying here. We took a walk around the property & neighbourhood each morning & it’s such an awesome location right on the lake, beautiful views. Mark was so lovely and helpful & very accomodating to us as was his lovely neighbours. We’ll definately return again!
