Charming La Jolla Shores Beach Cottage - Steps to Beach

Such a great place! Private and quiet yet so close to walk to scripps pier and stores and restarants! Definitely plan to go again!

We had a lovely 9 day stay!!! Our host, Joyce, is wonderful! We loved the location! So close to the beach, UCSD, La Jolla Shores shops & restaurants & a very short drive to all La Jolla Cove attractions! The house is very comfortable, quiet & private. Nice patios and gardens! Excellent parking! And room for a visitor car. Very comfy beds & great water pressure in the showers! 3 full bathrooms! We are not cooks, but you have a full kitchen & dining table. Laundry on site is a huge plus! Pack lightly because it's easy to wash clothes, if needed. We will stay here again!!!

It was a charming place with gardens on the property as well as plenty of space indoors and out. It was so well located as well as being protected due to the gates. Being within walking distance of the stunning beach meant tons of walks and sunsets. Well equipped kitchen.We hope to visit again!!

There was no beach view but it was across the street from the beach. The grounds of the property need some tlc. But the house was wonderful and well loved. It was perfect for our family to relax together and enjoy my son’s wedding.

The location was perfect for our activities. The cottage was spacious. The mobility chair was trickey for my mother to use but we managed. It was a nice to have with her mobility issues.

Amazing location for anyone attending a wedding at Scripps Forum. Easy walk to the beach. We walked the beach to shop, eat, and drink in the village everyday. Family friendly. Roomy downstairs. The grounds have such lovely gardens and a cat that greets you every day.

The pictures of the property were taken YEARS AGO and the property now was not even close to being accurate. This listing borders on criminal false advertising. We only stayed ONE day as it was so bad. I have requested that the Property Manager give us back 50% of the nightly rental fee, but I do not expect that it will happen. I highly recommend that you de-list this property. I was so mad that I did not take any pictures.

My husband and 3 adult children had the pleasure of staying at this very charming home. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by warmth and comfort. Each piece of art and decor has a story behind them. The home is very comfortable with all the amenities needed for a fun family vacation. We cooked and enjoyed some of our meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Morning breakfast with coffee on the outside back patio which is very private and quiet. Watched movies together in the comfortable living room. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner Joyce who was extremely gracious and helpful especially with nearby delicious places to eat. Thank you Joyce for sharing your lovely home with us! We will always remember you and our trip to La Jolla.

Property was well situated close to the beach and within easy walking distance of cafes, surfing shops and other stores. The interior was clean and functional with two floors and places for 6 people to sleep. 3 bathrooms were helpful. The only negatives were inconvenient access and very limited parking. Outside yard had not been maintained.

We had a very nice stay. The description is accurate and the place was clean. I prefer more modern homes (in hind sight) but all in all we had a very nice stay. The owner is very quick to respond and very nice.

The cottage was traditionally comforting. Thee was lots of space with furniture you want to relax on. The kitchen was very well equipped and a lovely dining table. The upstairs bedrooms were spacious and quiet.it was well equipped with beach towels, beach chairs, and various toys for both chiildren and adults. The cottage was tucked in a cozy garden area. Very quiet but a 2 min walk across the street to the beach area. I would go back in a minute.

We arrived at this house, and it looked run down from the outside. We went inside and it looked like my great grandmothers house in 1990! The furnishing are very old, and the 2 brown chairs are gross. The rugs look old, outdated, and you know if they're old they're dirty. The downstairs and upstairs had spiderwebs everywhere and every corner in the rooms had several spiders. My daughter said she would rather sleep in the car! There was a leaking toilet. There were many skunks outside. The floor was dirty with red stains. I immediately notified the property manager that we aren't staying. The owner called me and while she was very nice and apologetic she thought we weren't coming until the next day and had someone coming to fix the toilet, and she would try to deal with the dirty house and spiders (obviously she wasn't aware whoever cleans this house does not clean it at all). I told her we were leaving and would be in touch the next day. We took pictures and video of everything and contacted VRBO right after leaving. They were of NO help that night. They told us to stay and try to work it out with the owner. Who tells a family to stay in a dirty spider infested house?? Lucky for me my nephew is an attorney so I got great advice. We spent the night in my sisters rental, and then I found another house to rent. I text the owner the next day asking for a refund and sent pictures. She did refund my money that day. This house needs overhauled, it does not look like the pictures.

A couple of friends and I rented this cottage for a central location to stay during a week-long annual golf tournament. We all thought the house was wonderful. An older home with an abundance of character and charm - and CLEAN! We would definitely stay again if the tournament comes back to San Diego at some point.

Great little spot close to the beach!

We came to San Diego to visit family for a long weekend. We were stressed after scrambling to get out of town and were so happy to arrive at the cottage— a quiet oasis tucked back off of the main street. We had everything we needed to relax and regroup. We plan on returning when we next come to San Diego.

Myself and my girlfriends chose this house and La Jolla for my bachelorette weekend! The cottage is located in such a great location! Steps to the beach and an amazing cafe. Other restaurants are easily within 1-4 miles and such a selection. The cottage was very clean, with the exception of black ants. There were a lot of visible liquid bait traps, however we ended up with them in our beds, luggage and even found quite a few on the way home with us. Other than that, the cottage was perfect! You can hear the ocean and catch a glimpse of the ocean from the master bedroom. Comfy and cozy and made for the perfect relaxing weekend! And only a quick 20 minute drive to downtown San Diego! Everyone loved this cottage and we will definitely be back!

The perfect place to stay for a family beach wedding nearby. We could walk to almost everything. Especially appreciated the beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas! Ants were a bummer, but it’s not their fault, and they did what they could right away. We had a great time! Thanks, Joyce.

Amazing location and responsive property manager. While the place was clean, we had an issue with ants. They were quick to try and get rid of the ants. Overall the place is a bit dated.

We had a wonderful stay from beginning til end. We were so sad to leave.
