Ellsworth, Maine
Sky King’s cottage is a cozy home, private location but close to Acadia National Park, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, and Marlboro beach. Listing as 2 bedrooms, but can be 3 bedrooms with room divider. SLEEPS 7. Bedroom 1 sleeps 4 & Bedroom 2 sleeps 3. My home offers all the necessities for a perfect, relaxing Maine getaway and has a fully equipped kitchen (lobster pot and all!) to enjoy home cooked meals. Enjoy dinner and the views on the back deck. Watch the beautiful sunsets over Union Bay. Enjoy the Firepit in backyard and watch the stars. ONLY DOGS allowed.
Nice little cottage about 30 min outside of Bar Harbor/Acadia. Property is in a quiet area with a great view of a bay. Perfect place to stay with your family and pets. Afforable for the area. Nice fenced in yard for the pets. Everything you could need for a long weekend or more!
the only problem was we had 4 adults and the kids room bets didn't work well for them. Had to take one of the mattress's and put in living room to sleep
Has all the amenities. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Even has a fenced-in backyard which was super convenient. Did I mention the owner is pet friendly? We really enjoyed it and recommend it highly.
As Advertised. Very clean. Great view. Nice space.
This was the perfect house that met all of our families needs. Close to Acadia National Park and to town. The home was nicely stocked with everything we needed. Communication with the property manager was easy and she was very responsive and helpful! We enjoyed our stay.
Nice place overall. And though I recognized the listing said the home was pet friendly, there was a lot of dog hair still left on the couches which was not ideal. Otherwise had great communication with the owner, and the place worked for what we needed. Appreciated the amenity of laundry and pretty view. Would have loved access to the bay.
We had a great time everything was as stated. The family loved the space especially the fenced in yard for their favorite furry friend. We enjoyed the firepit and the deck seating. We enjoyed a few dinners under the stars. The house had everything we need to retire to after a long day in the park and at bar harbor. Thank you for the great trip.
Being able to stay in a house with privacy is a million times easier with dogs than staying in a busy hotel/inn. The listing says can sleep 7, and while possible, its not ideal. We had 4 people (2 couples), and the bunk bed room is ideally meant for kids that can bounce back from sleeping on anything. I wouldnt suggest older folks do more than just the queen bed, unless used to camping/cabin quality sleep. There is also a limited amount of seating in the living room as you add more people, this would quickly become apparent. The fact that there is only one bathroom made for an interesting time too, as there would be no hot water by the 3rd shower after a long hike. The location is perfect, as its not in the direct hustle and bustle of the harbor, but you do get the occasional car driving by quite quickly, and you'll be greeted every morning by the neighbors chickens. Would I stay here again, the answer is absolutely, but just as a single couple, not with friends. Would I suggest this to others, once more absolutely, but with the warning that its ideally meant for 2, or a family with children. This place provided everything we needed to enjoy our vacation, everyone had a great trip, and we are looking forward to our next visit.
My husband and I stayed here while visiting Acadia. It was perfect for our short stay. Since this was our first time visiting, I didn't understand the proximity of things. So, the house is about 20 min. from the Hulls Visitor Center entrance and 30 min. from downtown Bar Harbor. We just left first thing in the morning, hiked all day, had an early dinner, and headed back to relax for the evening.
We had a great stay. The cottage is cute and very cozy. And dog friendly. The owner was easy to reach and quick to respond. Relaxing view of the bay from the deck. Nice stay.
We loved the location, layout, and comfy master bed. We were a bit disappointed with cleanliness- ceiling fans and baseboards/ corners needed attention.
Very clean, quaint house. The fenced in area was absolutely perfect for my German Shepherd. The queen bed was very comfy!
House was nice and clean. Nancy was responsive and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Only downside was the location on a fairly busy road not very close to any town.
We enjoyed our stay! It was a great location to see Acadia, Bar Harbor and surrounding sites!
My family and I had a really great stay at this charming Ellsworth cottage. The sunset views overlooking the bay are spectacular and a gorgeous backdrop for dinner on the porch at the outdoor dining table. The house is on a main road so it can be a little noisy at night, but this is only applicable if you have young kids who go to bed early, like mine do. Considering the cottage is dog friendly, don’t be surprised by some leftover dog hair lol. We found some little clumps in the living room, so I imagine the cleaning crew did a bit of a quick once over during a busy turnover season, but not a deal breaker in any way. The house is obviously well cared for, the renovations are meticulous and clearly done with an eye for detail. The location is central and the house is so quaint, definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful time in Ellsworth/Bar Harbor! Our accommodations were superb. Everything was as stated. Very clean house, well stocked kitchen, beautiful view from deck, close to town but still in the country with occasional deer and wild turkeys in the field behind the house. Will definitely check if this property is available when we return in the future.
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) and 2 pups stayed at Nancy's the 1st week in August. The breeze from the backyard bay was excellent and we had some stellar sunsets. The first morning, we saw a mama deer with her 3 babies trotting across the backyard. It was precious!! The house was nice and cool with plenty of space for everyone. The fenced yard for the dog was a perfect addition. We adventured in Acadia and Bar Harbor and it was nice to be slightly removed from the hustle and bustle so that we could retire at night after long days of hiking and exploring. The house was also a great proximity to Hannaford (for groceries), a local pizza & sub shop, Fog Town Brewing and L.L. Bean!! We even had a chance to catch Timber Tina's Lumberjack show (about 5 minutes down the road, every night at 7PM)!! We brought our kayaks up for the week and were able to launch them just up the street at Ellsworth's Harbor Park & Marina. The Union River takes you out to the Bay. We saw a Bald Eagle, 2 Golden Eagles and even a Harbor Seal!! The only things we had trouble with during the week related to the house were... - the ceiling fan in the kids bunk room was much too close for the person in the top bunk to sleep without worrying about the fan hitting them in the middle of the night. - the outdoor hose was a bit finicky. - the kitchen microwave, while super cute, did not heat things very quickly/efficiently. - the coffee table in the living room wasn't great for doing puzzles or playing board games. Nothing that ruined the week, just small suggestions for future guest/stays. We really truly had a fabulous time in this beautiful house in a great location in Maine!! :)
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was very clean and had all the basics needed in the kitchen. We had 5 kids with us, but there was enough beds for everyone. There were plenty of towels and having laundry on site saved us from having to pack too many clothes. We enjoyed seeing deer in the field behind the property. It was only an 8 minute drive to Mt Desert Island, and there was a Walmart less than 5 minutes away.
Overall a good stay. Cleaning could use more attention. I saw dust and dead flies along the wall in the living room and also dog hair on sofa(we don't have dogs).
We really enjoyed our time here! The cottage is just as described! It’s clean, comfortable, well stocked, and in a great location! Being roughly half an hour from Bar Harbor allowed us to quickly go wherever we wanted in town but escape to the quiet after a long day of exploring. The view off the back porch was lovely as well! Thank you for being such a wonderful host to us and our pups!
