Stayed Jan 14, 2026A beautifully snug little cottage in Castleisland Had everything we needed and didnt want for anything. Quite literally down the road from Hughes Bar for a pint by the fire. It was a good location for day tripping to Dingle and Killarney with a host of other villages to visit like NewCastle West and Adare.

Stayed Oct 22, 2025Difficult to find, don’t trust the GPS, go to Hughes Bar, it’s just a bit down the road from there. Once there it is the most beautiful, magical place I have ever been. The grounds are wonderful, with a babbling brook in the back, behind the deck. Caroline and Timmy were most helpful getting us to the cottage and settled in. I can’t say enough good things, it is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Stayed Aug 23, 2025The cottage is lovely, and modern equipped. The jacuzzi is really great. The garden is beautiful. And from there we made day trips to the Kerry way and Limerick. Nearby is a church and a pub. We have had a good stay and the housekeepers were very helpful.

Stayed Jul 26, 2025I did leave a few comments on a letter in the cottage. There was landscaping done the morning after our first nights stay. Unfortunately I was sick in bed that day so the noise was a bit distracting. We were unable to get water in the guest bathroom shower so we all took a shower in the master bathroom. The water pressure was amazing in the master shower. There were a lot of gnats flying around, smell of propane/gas, musty - but otherwise a very unique home. The management was very quick to respond when we were not able to find the place.

Stayed Oct 1, 2024The cottage is lovely and everything we hoped for when booking a thatched roof cottage. We enjoyed listening to the stream that runs through the backyard and how cozy and homey the cottage felt. The only negative about our stay was that it was too short.

Stayed Jun 5, 2025We enjoyed our stay and how original this home was. The hot tub and creek out back was so relaxing after a day of traveling. We didn’t cook while there so I can’t remark on cooking supplies and etc. I think some shelving in the large wardrobes in bedrooms would help a lot. We used the extra small table in the utility area to lay out our clothes so we didn’t have to get into luggage everyday. They had plenty of extra covers/pillows in 2nd bedroom. They also had toilet paper and paper towel for arrival which was nice. The parking issue mentioned in another review is no problem at all it’s literally 10 feet from the gate of the house. We would definitely stay again! It’s a beautiful area and the owner at Hughes bar told us to go to Brownes bar for live music on a Friday night and it was the highlight of our trip. Beautiful place with the friendliest people.

Stayed May 14, 2025This cottage has been restored to bring a vintage Irish home alive, and updated with modern day conveniences. It is beautifully decorated, and supplied with everything a weary traveler could need. We found it neat and tidy, and very well maintained. It is located far enough away from the noise and traffic of the city, yet an easy drive to get you there.

Stayed Mar 21, 2025Cannot say enough good things about this little cottage. It’s excellently located to all the best attractions in Kerry, and it’s perfectly situated in the country but close enough to Castleisland to make getting groceries and going to the local pub easy. The caretaker, Timmy, built a fire for us twice and a local man gave my Dad an autographed book of his own poetry. Absolutely perfect accommodation for a family trip.

Stayed Oct 15, 2024The cottage was very rustic. Other than where it’s situated it’s a very charming little cottage. The problem is what the listing doesn’t not convey. There is no parking on site. Parking is across a relatively busy street. Inside the amenities had their charm but were old. Inside things felt cramped. Nice deck by a stream.

Stayed Oct 12, 2024This cottage was the perfect introduction to Ireland and such a unique stay. There aren’t many thatch roof cottages anymore and especially rare to be along side a river with a hot tub and beautiful garden. It was a dream to stay at and the contacts were really easy to work with given our flight changes. Would absolutely recommend.

Stayed Jun 13, 2024We spent our entire 2 week vacation at Cottage Mary Rose as our home base from which to explore the southwest part of Ireland. It was perfect! Genuine Ireland at its best. The cottage itself is beautiful, cozy, a sanctuary to retreat to after a full day of touring. The manager and caretaker are amazing and so welcoming. The gardens surrounding the cottage and the creek beside it add even more beauty and serenity to this very special haven. We’ve left a part of our hearts here in this lovely place and hope to return soon!

Stayed May 11, 2024Our stay here was wonderful. This cottage has been around for a long time and we appreciated staying in a little piece of history. The cottage felt like our home away from home. We loved the huge deck in the back as well as the hot tub! Great communication with property managers & hosts.
