Or if you prefer, stroll five minutes in the other direction to quaint cafés, bakeries, boutiques, restaurants, and galleries.
Headlands View Cottage has its own pathway and private entrance and is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway or small family gathering. Downstairs you’ll find an inviting space that combines a kitchenette, living area, and dining area. The kitchenette includes a portable electric oven, a counter-top two-burner stove, microwave, mini-fridge, sink, and plenty of bowls, plates, and utensils for cooking and eating. It works great for preparing a memorable meal, storing/warming any delicious leftovers you might bring home from a nearby restaurant, or putting together quick snacks on the go. The dining table seats up to four. The gas fireplace keeps you warm while you snuggle up in the two luxurious recliner chairs or the sofa to read, watch TV, or simply take in the view in silence. The queen sofa sleeper downstairs comes complete with a comfy memory foam mattress.
A spiral staircase leads to a beautiful loft upstairs with a queen bed, built-in desk, and a gas wall heater. Two rocking chairs looking out over Mendocino Headlands State Park provide additional spaces to read, talk, doze, or quietly reflect.

Great location. Kitchen was tiny but worked, although being height challenged I couldn’t reach the top shelf where the coffee maker was and I didn’t see a step stool. Also I suggest a shower mat, the shower floor was slippery and could be a hazard. The only other thing, there were no pillow cases for the fold out couch pillows. I didn’t use the upstairs bed, so I took the pillows with cases from there. The spiral stairs were smaller than they looked in the photos and a bit much for me, especially for the middle of the night bathroom trips. I’m old! All in all a nice stay.
Great location and clean.
Private, cozy, beautiful views!
We enjoyed our 15 night stay at the Headlands Cottage. The location is excellent. The layout of the cottage was lovely and the cottage was very quiet. The cottage was relatively clean but not perfect. We had some trouble with spiders in the sleeping loft. Also, all the windows were dirty. The tv worked quite erratically, one day Samsung Chanels worked another day they didn't. The same for cable channels. The kitchenette was minimal. It needs some updating, including new burners. The refrigerator was very small and had a broken plastic insert for milk. It's probably great for someone who is staying for a long weekend. With all this said, loved the location and would return.
Wonderful location. Private and quiet, but just a short walk to town. Literally a stone’s throw to beautiful Headlands State Park.
We spent a week relaxing in the peace and quiet while soaking in the beautiful views.
Very nice
Great location! Bring a flashlight to walk a pet.
This rental is perfectly located to walking distance to restaurants, shopping and walking the headland trails. It was clean and spacious feeling.
Pet friendly was a must for us this time and it was a nice quiet space. I’m not a fan of 10am checkout and because we were referred to Vacasa from VRBO, communication was minimal. Once someone contacted medical ally, the communication was great. Checkout will prevent me from staying again.
Excellent location and very quiet. Well stocked with cooking and eating utensils. Amazing views north towards Point Cabrillo lighthouse and within a minute walk of the headlands trail. Within walking distance to great restaurants too.
It has all that one needs, especially the headlands steps away.
Cottage was walking distance from the headlands and town. All the amenities and beautiful view from the loft bedroom. perfect little getaway!
My partner Becky and I - and our 2 year old pup - stayed here for the Christmas holiday weekend. The cottage was well appointed and warm. The bed very comfortable. We never needed the kitchen as we walked to our relatives’ home about a block away for holiday meals. The headlands trails were literally right out the door.l which our puppy loved. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location. Comfortable and quiet, but not a normal “Airbnb” type property with kitchen, laundry or any other extras. The deck and the hot tub in the pictures are not part of the cottage rental, which they state, however because of that there really isn’t anywhere to chill outside of the cottage on the property.
Beautiful studio walking distance from town and most amazing coastline on earth
Location is everything here. Though the place is small, it is located within walking distance to the little town of Mendocino as well as walking trails to the bluffs and trails. Location to everything in Mendocino is awesome! Fairly clean except the windows really need to be washed and a very dirty rag was left on the recliner when I arrived, which was disturbing.
This cottage is cozy with excellent heater stove and beautiful views of the ocean and fields. Walk 3 mins to the outrageously wild waves hitting the coves. Good life coffee is up the street for coffee/breakfast/lunch and great dinners at Fog Eater and Trillium. Would come back in a heartbeat and stay here.
Location and neighborhood is awesome. Highly recommended. Only gripe was the smoke detector which would go off in the middle of the night even if we were not cooking. Overall it was an awesome experience and would stay again
We loved the right-sized cottage with all the great views, the 'out the door' hikes right at the Mendocino Headlands State Park (insanely great coastal views!), the easy access to downtown Mendocino and surroundings, and the very comfy bed and recliner chairs! And quiet all around. A great vacation spot.
The cottage is really nice. We found it large enough for what we needed. There really isn’t a kitchen but we didn’t need one.
We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It had everything we needed and in the perfect location to wander in to town or out to the headlands. The cottage was clean and comfortable, and very cozy when it was cold and rainy outside.
