Eco-Friendly Features

We’re proud to be an environmentally responsible retreat. Here’s how we help reduce our impact:
• LED lighting throughout
• Low-flow plumbing fixtures
• Partial solar power
• Reusable dishes and refillable soap bottles to reduce single-use plastics
• Eco-friendly cleaning products whenever possible
Guest access
Guests may park in the driveway.
Access the home through the front door using a custom keypad code provided before check-in.
Other things to note
• We’re located in the rainforest at an elevation of 3,500 ft (1,000 m)—it can get cold and rainy, so please bring a rain jacket and warm layers.
• Cell service may be spotty, so we recommend enabling Wi-Fi calling during your stay.
• We’re near the most active volcano on Earth. While it’s usually peaceful, volcanic gas (vog) and minor earthquakes are possible. Rest assured, the home is built to the highest seismic safety standards.
• Like most homes in the area, we rely on catchment water, sourced from rain. Our on-site water treatment system removes impurities and sterilizes the water.
For drinking, we also provide reverse osmosis filtered water.

This is a new house that is immaculate and well designed. The hosts have left instructions for everything from the dishwasher to the hot tub for you. There is pancake mix and oatmeal with an instruction card, a well stocked pantry, very nice linens and bedding. The hot tub is surrounded by beautiful plants on a quiet and private deck. We were able to drop off our luggage early which was a huge help in maximizing our time at Volcano Park. Such a great value and location.

We live in Hawaii and so visit Volcano often. We absolutely loved this cottage, probably more than any that we have stayed in previously. The lanai is beautiful with local flowers, hot tub and lighting. The kitchen has everything that you could possibly want - assorted teas, coffee, fresh cream in the refrigerator, oatmeal, bananas, filtered water system and more. The beds were extremely comfortable -- loved the pillows! Beautiful towels in the bathrooms. Just an amazing spot and one that we hope to return to. Thank you McKenzie!

This gorgeous cottage along w/ the BBQ, hot tub, fresh coffee, comfortable mattresses, dishwasher and high quality beddings made the stay unbeatable for an island hop over the weekend. Mckenzie was a responsive host when contacted. The photos are accurate but doesn’t capture the true beauty and solitude of the cottage. Mckenzie thought of everything to include laundry soap/sheets and kind enough to leave half&half creamer in the fridge for our stay. The kitchen had necessary utensil's to use the bbq grill as we brought steaks with us from Costco on Oahu before we flew out. The home smells fairly new & feels like it hasn’t been there for years which made me feel like thousands of people haven’t slept in that bed. We would stay here again as we live on Oahu and thats a 45min flight away. I would like to remind everyone viewing this review to remember that groups of ppl may travel together and choose to stay at different accommodations for many reasons. We travelled with friends and our children so we met up once at our place so we could show our amazing accommodations and get payment for a large order of smoked sausage. VRBO we didn’t have a gathering or a party. We did show off our accommodations to 4 different heads of households and provide a tour of the home we stayed in. Thank you Mckenzie for having all the condiments and extra tea, pancake batter, oatmeal to include thin fresh bananas!
