mackinaw city, Michigan
This 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is one of 3 on this large wooded property. It was totally renovated in 2012 with cabin themed color and decor. This cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed, the other has a full size bed. The full kitchen is well equipped to cook all your meals. In the living room is tv/cable, books, games, and internet. The bathroom has a small shower (no tub). In 2021 a screened front porch was added with a dining space and a lounging area. Outdoors is a flagstone patio with a firepit for those evening marshmallows and s'mores. And there is room in the yard for kids to play while you relax in the hammock. All of this just a few blocks from town and the Straights. You can walk to the waterfront, restaurants, shopping, ferries to the Mackinac Island, and live music. Short trips by car are to Petoskey, Wilderness State Park, Tunnel of Trees, and the UP (Oswald's Bear Ranch, Whitefish Point, Tahquemenon Falls, Sault Ste. Marie). Also, just minutes away is the Headlands with its Dark Sky Park- a great place to watch meteor showers. Families with young children or teens, couples, and business travelers would all enjoy a stay here.
If this is booked for the dates you’d like or if you are interested in waterfront a few miles from town, please checkout “Pointe West “on HomeAway. The address is Carp Lake, but the cottage is on Lake Michigan between Mackinaw City and Wilderness State Park.
The cottage had a dirty microwave and the coffeemaker was a science experiment. The shower curtain wasn't cutting it either, you couldn't help not soaking the floor. I have contacted the owner twice, about the return of are deposit of $200. And still have not received it or a reason why we shouldn't have.
The Cedar is a newly renovated cottage located in a quiet suburb within walking distance to the attractions and stores in Mackinaw City. We enjoyed staying at the cottage and relaxing in the late afternoon on the the flag stone patio. There is a small charcoal grill that we used to bbq our dinners. Also, we enjoyed the bonfires we made in the fire pit. Todd and Jacki are very good owners/hosts...we met them by chance as they were also staying in the larger of the three cabins on their property. Todd and Jacki made the old-time cottages into newer, updated cozy places to stay. We would definitely stay here again!
The cottage was just as described. It was very clean and set-up perfect for a couple. The neighborhood was very quiet and yet a reasonable walk to restaurants, shopping and even the ferry to the island. We especially enjoyed the fire pit for the chilly Spring evenings. We would definitely recommend this cottage!
My wife and two young boys had a wonderful stay at this cottage. Minutes away from downtown, minutes away from the ferry to Mackinac...we will have wonderful memories of this forever!
A very cute and clean cottage. We had 4 adults staying here and it is more suitable for 2 adults and up to 2 children. It was well eqipped and nicely located. It was very hot when we were there and it is not air conditioned but there was a fan. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here!
We arrived at check-in time and everything was well set-up and cleaned. There was a towel that may have been missed in clean up but not a big deal. Towels, linens, and kitchen items were well stocked. It really is in a quiet neighborhood but so easy to get places within the city via feet, bike, or car. The stand-up shower was a tight fit for my 6'2 husband and the bathroom was a little small, but kids loved that the house was a circle and the bunk beds. Having a house is just a great alternative to being in a small hotel room.
Great place! Prefect for a short week. Convenient location!! My teens were able to walk downtown for some ice cream or fudge.
Loved this little cottage. The finishes, furnishings, and decor is perfect for the small space. We stayed three nights in October for a little fall getaway with our two young kids. I would definitely recommend this place.
We had a great time at this cottage. Very clean! Our family of 4 enjoyed sitting out by the fire on the cool nights. Just down the road from all the great shops in Mackinaw City. We were very busy enjoying the Sool Locks, Shipwreck Museum and Mackinac Island.
Super happy with our stay at this adorable rental:) My best friend and I planned a trip to the area and were so very pleased with the cottage. It was comfortable, smelled great, decorated nicely, very clean and in a great location. There was plenty of room for the two of us (although I did hit my head when waking up in the bunk bed, but I'm kind of tall, haha:) We enjoyed the firepit and was glad there was a grill & hammocks, but we ran out of time to use them. We had a wonderful vacation and daytripped to Mack Island, the UP, Petoskey & Harbor Springs but honestly we probably would have been just as happy staying at the cottage playing board games, watching movies and making s'mores. If we return to Mackinaw City we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! (P.S. IGA was very close and had a decent selection of produce, wine, and necessities. enjoyed lunch at the Keyhole and fudge from Marshall's.)
