Keywords: Sweet 2 bedroom casita, with one full bath, full and stocked kitchen, fireplace. Pond outside fantastic bird and wildlife watching. A peaceful quiet that will calm your mind and sooth your soul.
As described....it was hard to even want to leave the property at all...my ONLY complaint would be that the smaller mattress is not super comfy so we moved rooms around and one slept on the bed in the main room which was AMAZINGLY comfy, and there is not ample drinkware. Washer and Dryer are located outside by the front door...other than that....get ready to completely unwind and fill your cup
Be prepared for the quiet beauty. The moment we walked through the doors, we got lost in the stunning views of the mountains. The perfect place to recharge and rest. It is a great launch pad for Big Bend, too. Wooden high ceilings, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfortable beds and furniture. Sitting on the covered patio watching sunsets are a must. Early rising with the sun is amazing as well. The house is properly cooled and if you want a fire in the fireplace or the outside fire pit, there’s plenty of firewood right outside the kitchen door. The house is sitting out away from other homes with its windmill and Cottonwood tree marking the way to Casa La Vista. Truly serene with multitude of birds making a stop for lunch on the seeds. We will definitely stay in this property again. Also, most importantly for us who have canine family members: your dog will stand in front of one of the many windows and see every movement in front of them. Dog Friendly!!!! Until next time! Great stay and hosts for a weekend in Marathon. Perfect house my family and accommodations with the dark skies. Will be back!
We really enjoyed the peaceful location so close to Big Bend. Loved watching birds and wildlife!
This was my second time staying at one of Wilma's properties in Marathon, and I enjoyed it just as much as the other house next door. Although, this one has the benefit of unobstructed mountain views. Every sunset is great, and the night skies in west TX are incredible if you turn off all unnecessary lights. Between the French Grocer and the new Porter's in Alpine, you'll have everything you need to cook, which is what we did all but one night. Keep your food secure/in the fridge as this is the desert, and there are bugs in the desert. I recommend venturing over to the Gage to have dinner at the White Buffalo - it's a neat place and a very short drive. You could even walk as it's less than a mile each way. Hope to be back next year.
Great view. Over all it was good. The property itself looked a little run down outside the house with the trash pile by the driveway. Cabinets were sticky, and dishes were dirty. Other than that, it was perfect.
From the moment you walk through the door you can see the stunning views of the desert and mountains in the distance. The house is immersed in the beautiful landscape and has a cozy, rustic feel. Marathon offers some fun places to visit just minutes down the road where you can frequent a coffee bar, steak house, and shops. Big Bend was only about an hour away which was an enjoyable scenic drive. I can’t recommend this place highly enough for a relaxing weekend getaway in West Texas.
Thoroughly enjoyed this stay. Very comfy. Traveling with our basset hound. Very private, therefore quiet. Enjoyed wildlife morning and evening that came to the little pond. Lovely view.
Quiet and beautiful views!
We loved this wonderful spot. The house was spotless and comfortable, and the kitchen is well-stocked. The views are astonishing. But the thing that made us feel the most welcome was the thoughtful dog-oriented adds: a shelf with dog towels and a bowl of dog toys. So sweet!! We’ll be back!
Perfect location for our stay
Hope to go back soon!
A great house for stars at night, for birding, and for a day trip to big bend. We loved it and will be back.
This is our 4th time staying at Casa La Vista, loved it as always! Several mule deer visited the pond every day which made it extra special this time!
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was so quite and peaceful. Beautiful view, sunrises and sunsets. We had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Would definitely book again.
The views were amazing! And, oh my goodness, the stars! Very comfortable place. Convenient to Big Bend after a little drive. We would rent the place again, for sure
This is the farthest West of town with nothing to block your view of the southern end of the Glass Mountains but a barbed wire fence. The small pond attracted all sorts of wildlife from Scaled Quail, Cactus Wrens, Red Tailed Hawk to Mule Deer and the giant window allowed for unobstructed viewing with all the comforts of home. There is a well stocked kitchen and large living, dining room with comfortable chairs. There is a Flat Screen T.V. but we never even turned that on and relied on the good internet connection. We loved our short stay and hope to come back for more.
Great experience with beautiful views!!
Great property for enjoying nature and relaxing.
The house was very clean. Beautiful views of the sunsets. Lots of wildlife. It was a great stay and location to the main part of Marathon. Easy access to Big Bend as well. (Still a drive to get into the park but it was a lovel scenic drive!)
