Simpsonville, Kentucky
This charming cottage has been a favorite for friends and family coming in for Derby and for touring the Bourbon trail, and now the owners have opened it to guests.
Nestled on 14 acres in the middle of horse farms, rolling green hills, brooks and streams, and the "Bourbon Trail" this cottage sits aside a pond with weeping willow, ducks and geese. Wake up to the sound of birds chirping, the sight of horses just outside your windows, and the smell of fresh country air.
The interior of this abode is all about down-home comfort. In the kitchen, there is a bar with comfy, cushy bar stools. The living room has deliciously inviting leather sofa and loveseat, large 55" flat screen TV, wood floors and huge windows with gorgeous green views everywhere the eye can see.
An amazing night's sleep is essential so we furnished the bedroom with a brand new ULTRA Novaform king sized bed with upgraded linens and three different sets of pillows to choose from: down, down alternative hypoallergenic, and foam to suit all types of sleepers.
For extra guests there is a full sized fold out memory foam mattress that is also very comfy.
The bathroom features shower with great water pressure and jetted jacuzzi tub.
Enjoy coffee in the morning on the back deck overlooking the pond, ducks, horse fields and horses. The deck has a large electric awning that extends and retracts, so you can relax in the shade or in the sun easily with the press of a button. Red Fern Riding Stables is just a few minutes away if you want to rent a horse and ride through the countryside like the locals. Visit the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, just down the road.
Enjoy the Derby just 28 miles away, and live the dream of the horse life while you're in town.
The owners Brian and Rebecca live next door in the main house and if they are not working or tending the horses, they can be available if you should need them, but they respect your privacy completely and encourage you to enjoy yourselves and your privacy, and all that their piece of paradise has to offer.
Vistas from every window...quiet rolling hills and charming countryside cottage! Wonderful space, decor and fully stocked kitchen for cooking! Every evening we enjoyed visiting up close with five beautiful horses and our gracious host even supplied carrots so our grandchildren could hand feed them! To top it all off, the sunrise was spectacular! Don't miss this one !
Great location close to Louisville. Quiet place after a day of sightseeing.
Beautiful property nestled in the rolling hills of prime Kentucky horse country. Very close to all the venues Louisville has to offer yet tucked away in a peaceful pastoral setting. Host is very kind and accommodating. Property is very comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Perfect spot to rest after a day on the Bourbon Trail or after enjoying some of Louisville’s fine offerings!
If you love beautiful green pastures, the sound of an occasional horse neigh and spectacular views this is the place for you. The hosts were friendly and attentive. The property was clean and well appointed. And the setting…you can’t ask for a better Kentucky experience. Close to Louisville, local attractions and the bourbon trail. One of the most beautiful places we stayed.
Excellent property with a peaceful country setting. Well stocked kitchen, VERY comfortable bed. Sweet back porch with a great view. Loved it!
Lovely property for a quiet getaway from the city. Comfortable and clean with excellent views of horses and hills. It is in a great location for exploring the area. The hosts are kind and accommodating, we thoroughly enjoyed our escape to the country!
We took my mom to the Kentucky Derby for her 70th birthday! Staying in this house was icing on the cake!! The scenery was stunning and the horses on the property fit the theme. We were greeted by the hosts and they were amazing!! Such sweet people and so accommodating. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place and I definitely would stay here again!
Enjoyed staying in the country…great location to pivot for Bourbon Trail.
We enjoyed staying in this cozy cottage for the week. It had everything that we needed, and was very well supplied. We brought our two little dogs with us, and they even offered us an outdoor playpen for them to use. Every window you looked out of had a beautiful view of the property, including their horses and duck pond. The owners are very welcoming and make you feel like part of their family. We are already planning a return visit for next year.
Took my teenagers here for spring break. We visited the Noah’s Ark exhibit, did the zipline in cave, Churchill Downs & Slugger museum. This was the perfect place to retreat to after being a tourist all day. The owners offered a blow up bed & it was all set for us when we arrived. King bed was comfortable & my daughter slept great on queen blow up. The back porch was nice to enjoy the pond, horses & wildlife. We ate dinner here 2 nights. Kitchen was well stocked. Owners were friendly. We did not bring our pup although it was an option it would have worked just fine:) Book it! You’ll be happy you did! Thx for sharing your cottage with us!
A clean, bright, well-appointed cottage in a lovely pastoral setting. Horses in the pasture a few yards beyond the back porch, and ducks swimming in the small pond that borders the pasture. Beautiful sunsets and friendly, attentive hosts. On the Bourbon Trail, and an easy drive to Louisville or Lexington. Recommended.
Okay, so the property is not old BUT it was like arriving home. Owners are warm and welcoming, yet give you your space and respect your privacy. Across the board, a 5 star stay!! The property is about 7 miles east of the city of Louisville, but after sightseeing all day, it was a welcome drive to the country. It is peaceful and quiet and has beautiful views. They had everything you could ask for and more. We did not cook there, but the kitchen seemed well stocked also. Above all, the bed was extremely comfortable which is hard to find in a rental, trust me. Do not hesitate to book here!!
We stayed here for a couple months while our house was being completed (delays with builder) and felt so welcomed, by both the Craigs and their lovely neighbors. The carriage house was comfortable and well stocked for our family. It feels very spacious even though there is only one bedroom. Although it was stressful to find temporary housing at the last minute, we’re so thankful to have found this place. We left with some amazing summer memories and a few new friends. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay in Louisville area, don’t hesitate to book this one!
The Carriage House was wonderful! It was perfect for my husband and I who wanted to be close to Louisville for a few tours but really prefer to stay out of the city for some peace and quiet. This place was perfect for that a 20-25 minute drive from where we were headed in Louisville, close to the Outlet Mall and had a great back deck for my husband and I to sit at. We can't wait to come back when we decide to go back to Louisville and surrounding areas!
Rebecca and Brian worked to make our stay enjoyable and are very hospitable folks. we enjoyed their carriage house and dogs. The horses were beautiful to look at. Thank you.
