-- THE LOCATION --
'Blueberry Cottage' is an ideal retreat to experience the great outdoors. Pick blueberries from the meadow in late July, bring the mountain bike along to ride the trails, or head out to Back River Cove to cruise the water by canoe or kayak.
Midcoast Maine boasts beaches, boutiques, galleries, music and plenty of places to eat! Spend the day sunbathing at Pemaquid Beach (Bristol), Drift Inn Beach or Birch Point Beach (toward Port Clyde) or nearby Martins Point Beach in Friendship before diving into some delectable Maine cuisine! Be sure to stop by the closest "watering hole" in Waldoboro Village, The Narrows Tavern, The Odd Alewives Farm Brewery (new this year) or the famous Moody's Diner (since 1927). In the Rockland area there's McLoons Lobster Shack in Spruce Head, Café Miranda or the Rockland Café. In the Boothbay area try the Chowder House Boat Bar or the Boothbay Craft Brewery and Tavern. On the Pemaquid Peninsula in Damariscotta there's King Eider's Pub, Schooner's Landing or Newcastle Publick House. Go toward the Pemaquid Lighthouse State Park (not to be missed) to the Anchor and Muscungus Bay Lobster (BYOB) in Round Pond or Shaw's in New Harbor. All are within 30 miles of the property!
If you're a museum fanatic, you'll love Owls Head Transportation Museum, the Farnsworth Art Museum, the Center For Maine Contemporary Art and perhaps the Coastal Children's Museum in the Rockland vicinity, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (Boothbay) and the Maine Maritime Museum (Bath). Those who prefer a shopping spree will find stores abound in Damariscotta, home of Reny's ("A Maine Adventure"), as well as Boothbay Harbor, Rockland, and Camden. Go a little further to outlet shopping in Freeport where the L.L. Bean signature store is open 365 days/year 24/7!

This cottage is located in a wonderfully quiet neighborhood, super close to your own sea cove and boat, where you can swim, fish or just enjoy spying on wildlife (we saw racoons, porcupine, deer, fireflies, etc). Plus, great owners helping out in any way possible. I will come back here anytime, will try fall next time.
We really enjoy this place, mostly due to the quiet and very safe neighborhood, and the very easy access to our own sea cove. The cottage is next to a beautiful field of flowers, where you can occasionally spot wildlife (we saw deers, porcupine, a racoon family). The cottage is old-fashioned but everything works really well. Finally, having a row boat was also very cool!
Nice little cottage outfitted with the necessities. The tidal river was nice and the dock was fun for my two boys to finish off of. Would stay again!
So peaceful and relaxing. Loved the dock and row boat. The cottage was so sweet and simple. Hot during the day but cool at night. It is quite a drive to different things but the location was remote and peaceful. It’s a great spot for getting away. There were a lot of ants. And I reached out to the manager a few times and never heard. Also the cleaner came early and tried to get us out quickly.
We were familiar with the property and loved staying there. Having the dock and boat was a big plus
We stayed one week. Enjoyed the surrounding area. Especially kayaking. Cottage was rustic but comfortable. Unfotunately mosquitos and ticks were abundant. Could not enjoy the outside in the evening. May be a fact of life in rural coastal Maine in the summer.
A wonderful peaceful location on the water with access to a rowing boat for fun trips. Cottage very comfortable and put together with love. Beautiful meadow in front of cottage leading to the water. Highly recommend.
Stayed here with my wife and two young boys (3 and 1). The 3 year old cried when it was time to leave because he loved it so much. The adults had a super-relaxing time (not having internet access was fantastic!). At the cottage we spent our time: sitting on the deck, reading books, swimming off the private float, picking wild blueberries in the meadow to make blueberry pancakes, and we even watched a movie or two on VCR. For day trips there is plenty to see and do too (we loved Pemaquid).
We had a wonderful stay at Blueberry cottage. A rustic cabin that provided a terrific jumping off point to all things Maine.
Blueberry Cottage was a wonderful, quiet cottage with views of the cove. Enjoyed coffee on the deck, cool breezes and star filled nights.
