Fife Lake, Michigan
If you are looking for a quiet place to get away, yet have all you want and need at your fingertips, this is the place! Located a few hundred yards off the popular Fife Lake, this lake house is located on the no-motor lake of Pickerel Lake - 42 acres ready for fishing (blue gill, crappie, pike, bass - bring your own poles or use ours!), kayaking, row boating, or just sitting on the dock and watch the wildlife all around. If you have a motor boat and want to go on the bigger lake, Fife Lake has several public access points right down the road. Enjoy the day out and about, then come back to your quiet retreat.
There is a row boat and four kayaks for your use while here and a fire pit to cozy up to at night. Sit on the large deck that takes in great views of the trees and lake.
Inside the lake house, you will find hardwood floors, cathedral ceilings, a fully equipped kitchen and dining room. The living room features leather reclining seating - the perfect place to enjoy the view, read a book (choose one from our library!), or catch a show on the flat-screen TV.
There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor. The first room features a queen bed and two large closets. The 2nd bedroom has a full-sized bed and a large closet. Finishing up the main floor is a full bathroom with tub/shower and also a washer/dryer for your use if needed.
Upstairs in the loft is a third sleeping area - a beautiful queen-sized bed with a ceiling fan, overlooking the living & dining rooms and large floor-to-ceiling windows that face the lake.
This lake house is close to everything:
*mere minutes from historical downtown Fife Lake
*only 30 minutes to Traverse City - home to the National Cherry Festival, many wineries, breweries, golf courses, paved bike baths, etc.
*great starting location for day trips, an hour from Sleeping Bear Dunes, two hours to Mackinac City, then a quick ferry ride to Mackinaw Island.
If you are into the outdoors, the possibilities are endless:
*Hiking: North Country Trail runs through Fife Lake. Walk a portion or hike the full 21-mile Fife Lake Loop
*Mountain Biking - 20 minutes from the VASA singletrack trailhead and VASA Pathway; 30 minutes from Cadillac Pathway
*Snowmobiling trails minutes away
*ORV trails and State Forest Land all around
*Four outdoor security cameras on site, located on corners of cottage. One showing the driveway, other captures front door and shed, and other two capturing west and south sides of cottage. No sound recorded or owner live feed access.
We had a nice time. Enjoyed the quiet seclusion of the property. The kayaks and row boat were a hit. Thanks for sharing.
Perfect setting for our family vacation to explore the area with trips to Sleeping Bear, Traverse City, Mackinaw Island and the Dark Sky Park. Found everything we needed at the cabin for a week of fun -- both inside and outside. Wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it to others.
We had a wonderful week in this cottage - it was exactly as described and had all the amenities we were hoping for! We spotted lots of wild life around the lake and really enjoyed the quiet setting.
We had a wonderful experience! Cabin was the perfect size for our group of 6 adults. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, roasting marshmallows and making pan fried trout over the fire. Host was extremely helpful and prompt to respond to any questions. She had the cabin stocked with spices, coffee, garbage bags etc. and she was very gracious to allow us to use her supplies if needed! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend!! The only down side was the distance to some of the locations we wanted to visit, for example, an hour to sleeping bear dunes. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this is your place.
What a beautiful setting for a summer vacation! We had a wonderful time on the water and this home served as a great home base as we took day trips to Traverse City, Petosky, and Sleeping Bear Dunes. The owners went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed. I had to smile when our littlest guy said “we never turned on the tv.” It was definitely a successful trip.
My family and I had a great time staying at the property. It was our base as we explored Northen Michigan. We took day trips and returned to the cottage in the afternoon for a relaxing time by the lake. My teenagers loved being able to kayak every evening. The owner was very responsive to any question we had. We'll be back.
Property was very clean and cozy and had everything we needed. We enjoyed our trip!
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place. The scenery was incredible and a short drive from all of the places that we wanted to see. Our evenings were quiet and peaceful viewing the sunset.
A very relaxing family vacation week. Secluded house with good lake access.
Everything about the stay was great. Location was secluded but close enough to most areas of interest. Cottage was well equipped for an enjoyable stay.
