There is lots to do in Whitby.

Whilst in Whitby you have to try the world famous fish and chips available from numerous cafes on the sea front. Whitby was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Dracula which he wrote whilst staying at Whitby. On the hill there is the historic ruins of Whitby Abbey which was the inspiration for Carthax Abbey in Dracula. Whitby also has a sea faring history being the home of Captain Cook which there is a Captain Cook museum in which you can discover more about the legendary sea farer. At high season there is August Whitby Regatta when you can see some amazing ships and boats. At the life boat museum you can find about the various daring rescues performed by the Whitby lifeguards over the many years.

If music is your thing then Whitby is the place for you hosting the world famous Whitby Goth Weekend twice a year, the 1960s weekend, the Folk Festival, Jazz and Soul Festival plus you also get to hear music and see films at the Bram Stokers International Film Festival at Whitby.

All in all your stay at Wildgoose Cottage will be fun, memorable and one that will stay in your hearts and minds forever.

What a perfect retreat for a couple. Far away from Whitby for peace and quiet but close enough to be in the middle of Whitby (2.7 miles walk from cottage to top of 199 steps). Cottage spotless. There is no signal for internet but that was good for us as it’s nice to just chill with a book. Would definitely recommend. Cottage is off a farm road very quiet

From reading the reviews and viewings the photos I had a great feeling about the property and felt it really suited the escape I had in mind. And it surpassed all my expectations. The view and idyllic setting of the property, the cosiness of the cottage and the communication/instructions from the owner and responsiveness was all exceptional. I can see why it has so many returning guests. The guest book was great for tips on where to see the wildlife and where to visit. I can't wait to return. Thanks again

A lovely place to spend Christmas, fully equipped to be able to cook a traditional dinner. The cottage is very warm, we had no need to use the wood burner, which I was disappointed about The cottage is ideally placed within reach of amenities. We visited the Abbey, church and the centre of Whitby on Xmas Eve & travelled into Sandsend on Boxing Day for a bracing walk on the beach.

A great location and very cosy cottage. It is close to the town of Whitby. We did not expect to be in the middle of heavy snow and high winds, but we could see the dramatic weather changes in a warm and safe place. Our comfort zones were truly tested in a very positive way! Our host was very helpful and understanding. We definitely need to come again!

On our short trips in England and Wales, we again decided to travel to Whitby, to the paradise in a bottle. The weather was 30degs, constant, the sun was strong and shining on us, the sound of rushing tide coming in and out, clearly this was heaven! We had a short walk to Whitby to mingle with the bustling crowd and the cobble stones that takes me back to my childhood home. The cottage is a lovely little homely one. It has one bed that fits the bill. The stargazing ones among you, will be flabbergasted at the amount of dark sky, with celestial objects sighted, up above, when the sun goes down.Don’t forget to bring your binoculars or telescope. There is no wifi at the cottage and that is a bit of problem at times. It would be nice to go and have it and decide whether you need it or not. That choice should be yours, it should have it. If you don’t want to share the wild West nightlife in Whitby you can stay in the cottage. The problem here is the tv set was born in the 20th century and as such has its own little plan for you to get annoyed to. What it needs is a nice big modern tv on a proper adjustible wall stand. That would cost no more than 300. (See Richer Sounds)All in all a wonderful little cottage, we will return, if the thing isn’t booked up. ! DB.

Lovely little cottage, ideal for all local amenities but nestled in a beautiful, quiet and unobtrusive location. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed for your stay. a lovely base for our little break away from it all. Just maybe one suggestion, there is a DVD player in the TV in the bedroom, perhaps one for the TV downstairs? Due to the location and as stated in the description TV signal not always the best so to be able to watch one of many of the films provided, downstairs with the tipple of your choice would be nice.
