Kevalli House is situated on 11+ acres of oceanfront land on Stocking Island, the barrier island that forms Elizabeth Harbor. Because there are no motorized vehicles on the island and access is by boat only, much of the land on Stocking Island is pristine. This five mile long island contains only seven home sites of which Kevalli House is the furthest west.

A pavilion at the highest point on the property, 65 feet, offers a panoramic view of Elizabeth Harbor, the neighboring islands, and open waters of the ocean. Looking down on the beach directly behind Kevalli House, you can see a very rare stromatolite reef, thought to be one of the oldest forms of life on the planet and known to exist in just a few places in the world. At low tide they form beautiful natural soaking pools along the shore which can be quite a relaxing place to enjoy the crystal clear waters.

The Kevalli House guest cottage facility forms a nicely designed cluster of three buildings. The common area between the buildings is a sitting area which also adjoins the two identical wings, one on the east and one on the west. This layout is ideal for two couples, as it allows for privacy and offers ample space for everyone. Both wings offer several comfortable areas for sunning and reading. Each is designed for a comfortable extended stay, with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom, dining area, and sitting area. A separate bedroom area behind French doors has an adjustable queen bed and sliding glass door leading out to a private deck. *Occasionally we will rent the wings separately. Please contact us for availability and details.

The second-story covered deck above the sitting area overlooks the tree canopy and provides a tranquil place to catch island breezes and enjoy a beautiful vista of the harbor. A walkway on the front side of the cottage leads to the pavilion described earlier. Another path leads through natural foliage consisting of a wide variety of native plant species and finally to another covered deck overlooking the ocean side beach. On the very front of the property is a 200 foot long fixed dock which provides access to the cove. This protected body of water features two of the famous Bahamian blue holes. Mystery Cave is considered one of the best snorkeling spots in the area and is within snorkeling distance of the dock, or you may choose to use some of the kayaks that are available. Great snorkeling is also found ocean-side. A floating dock provides access for small boats.

Kevalli House is a very eco-friendly choice. We are 99% solar-powered and meet our water needs by collecting rain water. We try to limit our impact on the environment as much as possible by using environmentally-friendly cleaning products, recycling, reusing, and reducing. Our paths are lit with solar-powered lights, fans and island breezes keep our rooms cool, and numerous windows catch evening breezes very effectively.

A 20 minute cab ride takes you from the airport to the government dock in George Town where the water taxi picks you up for the ride to Kevalli House. In George Town there are numerous businesses, including a well-stocked grocery store, car rental, boat rental, straw market, library, and a nice variety of restaurants. The Bahamas has over 300 sunny days a year, crystal clear warm water, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, one of which is right in the backyard of Kevalli House.

Great location, amazing beautiful views but no air conditioning is a dealbreaker, had we known we would not have booked. Norman was amazing, on queue every time got us whatever we needed whenever we needed. Always pleasant and helpful with getting us information. We really enjoyed our stay there, except for not sleeping all week.

To piggy-back on so many of the other reviews. This is a hidden gem for those that are looking for a place off the beaten path with access (thank you Norman!) to both Georgetown and the many local hotspots of beauty and repose. What a great place for tranquility and rest at your own pace.

The property was amazing and the caretaker, Norman, was wonderful. He was very helpful, took us back and fourth to main island whenever we wanted to go. We were able to tie up to the dock, which was very helpful for us. The property could use a little bit of maintenance but otherwise was really nice.

Our host was excellent with help on things to do and places to go. A little limited on amenities but the location makes up for it. We had the beach to ourselves and loved having our morning coffee at the upper gazebo looking over the ocean.

House was clean and and very nice. The only thing that this property needs more of is fans. The evenings were a bit muggy and hot, so a few more fans would have been nice. Norman is excellent, always there to taxi you to town and full of great information. We will be back!. Bob was very responsive with all our questions, great to do business with. Thanks for everything, great memories for our family!

We had an amazing time staying on Stocking Island. As my kids (ages 11 &13) said, all the things we wanted to do from snorkeling, hiking, swimming, paddle boarding to climbing a tree were all right at our fingertips and we could do without having to rent an item or drive to it. That was a huge bonus! Kevalli House was a clean, wonderful property with amazing views -- we loved climbing up to the Pavillion! And a bonus was the ping pong table at the Cottages -- I don't think my kids asked for screen time once while staying at Kevalli. Bob was a knowledgeable and kind host! We loved him sharing his home and Stocking Island with us. As Bob says, this is definitely a place to be independent, which we loved, but we had to be organized too, especially with meals. The kitchen we had was simple, and we were able to get good food supplies from George Town, but going out to a restaurant took some planning. It was lots of fun to kayak to Chat and Chill and see/feed the stingrays.

Ok. I am at a point where I want to experience real. Meet real people and do real things. This is one of those places. Dave took us in a dingy to st Francis for open mic night. Snorkel from the dock. Talk to people from all over the world that have a passion for boating like Philip and Bridget that shared a bottle of wine with us on our last night. The house is comfortable. Lots of room to spread out. Groceries, bone fishing and scuba are a $15 taxi ride away. The property and it’s surrounding wilderness are stunning. 300 or 400 ft takes you from the Atlantic side to the harbor. We make it a rule not to return to the same place twice. We will come back here.

We had a lovely time at this very comfortable cottage. The beds were comfortable, the cottage was roomy & the grounds & pavilions provided amazing views and access to the beach. The trails around the island are so fun to explore! The things I see that could be improved: *provide more than 2 bath towels per room. The island is damp and the towels were a bit musty by the end of the trip, even hanging them on the line to dry. *provide a small boat to get to Chat n Chill or Georgetown or some of the other beaches on the island since access is very limited from Kevalli by foot (Norman was great to help us when we needed a ride, but we would have gotten to do more had we our own boat) We used the kayaks and paddle boards provided but several days were very windy and this made it very difficult to get anywhere. *an electric coffee maker would be nice (we had a press and it was ok, but a coffee maker would have been better) We loved the cottage and the island and Norman was always helpful when we needed a ride or anything at all. We would come back here again for sure!!

We visited Kevalli House on Stocking Island for a week in April 2014 and again in October 2015, with close friends. Our party consisted of four adults and two children who perfectly fit into one of the comfortable and clean Villa’s that are available to rent. When we needed anything extra or had any questions about Stocking Island, Georgetown or day-excursions away from Stocking Island, Bob Cronin, the owner was readily available to supply us with all the information and arrangements we were looking for. Whether you are an adult or a child, the turquoise waters and soft white sand beaches surrounding Kevalli House are what one dreams of when paradise comes to mind. We found Kevalli House particularly special because of the privacy, beauty, tranquility and relaxing atmosphere. Just a week here rebooted us all and provided the happiest of memories to last us a lifetime. It is the most idyllic vacation. One in which we have and will continue to revisit.

We stayed in the separate house which is comfortable and clean and has a relaxed vibe. It is not high end and modern and is not trying to be. It is more like a beach house or large family cabin. The screened in veranda kept bugs to a minimum which was nice at night. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need. We have generally stayed at beach front houses in the past not far from grocery stores and shops. This is different as you have to get a water taxi or have access to a boat to go across the harbour to shop. Planning is needed. When we booked I was not sure about not being right on the beach. Once there you realize how unique this place is. The island is thin and you have access to both sides. On one side is the clear calm inner harbour (holes) with lovely snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding. Paddle to chat and chill! On the other side 2 min away is a wonderful long beach that only seemed to have our family on it most of the day. The small pools that formed between the stromatolites at the end of the day were perfect to relax in. We did not have very small kids but they would be perfect even for small kids to enjoy. As others have said sitting at the pavilions with the 360 views is wonderful. One thing to remember is that this is off the grid so conservation of water and energy is important. You need to be careful with water usage and remember to switch off lights. It provides a reminder of how much we all may be wasting back at our homes. Good learning opportunity for every one especially kids. Bob is a wonderful host. He made sure we had everything we needed and provided lots of information and facts about the island. He even gave me a boat lesson on the way over to pick up a rental boat. The cost is reasonable compared to many other places we have stayed in. Overall it was a great experience and vacation. Would go back.
