A little history about Bat Cave NC
One of Hickory Nut Gorge’s wonders is Bat Cave Preserve, owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy since 1981. The preserve is home to the largest augen gneiss granite fissure cave in the world. The granite of these caves was formed over 500 million years ago. The cave provides habitat for rare bats, salamanders, and spiders.
This place was absolutely beautiful!! The owners are super nice and helpful. It's a perfect beautiful getaway. I will go back
My girlfriend and I spent the New Years weekend her and it was fantastic. Great location and Bruce was wonderful to work with. Highly recommended!
Love the large deck right on the river with a hot tub. Very relaxing evenings just listening to the river. The unit is small but works great for 2 people. The unit can be a bit cleaner, with cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and the vent over the kitchen table needs cleaning but overall, great location for a relaxing weekend getaway. Bruce, owner, is very nice and provides great communication leading up to the visit and during. Will definitely stay again.
Very nice place with huge deck right on the river. Hot tub is on the deck as well. Massage chair rocks!
I loved everything. From the back deck, the jacuzzi, the river and the cottage itself. So very beautiful. A+++++
Enjoyed our stay here. Basic living space with a fabulous deck and hot tub looking out to a gorgeous view.
We wiil be back, Bruce has a wonderful place.
Great times with a good location. Love drinking coffee in the morning and watching the family of otters playing in the river. Easy access to local areas. Lake Lure and Chimney rock park was just down the road.
Nice place for a getaway by the river.
My wife and I just absolutely loved staying at the Bat Cave we definitely plan on revisiting the area again. Bruce was an amazing host. Check in and out was a breeze. A big thank you to them.
Perfect for a short trip to Asheville or just to get away. Right on the river and although there are people closer by, you feel secluded. About 8 minutes from chimney rock state park and within 15 minutes of 3 breweries and a vineyard.
This was a clean and cozy place with an amazing view! It was close to Chimney Rock and the Flowering Bridge. It provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We can not wait to visit again!
My husband and I went for a romantic birthday getaway. The cottage is like an apartment under the owners home. It’s right beside the River. Had a beautiful deck with jacuzzi. We enjoyed playing music, having a few drinks while relaxing in the jacuzzi. We caught some fish in the river. Grilled out. Look forward to visiting again. Very close to chimney rock and waterfall. Love the little stores around. Lake lure is also close by. I recommend booking. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was chilly. It would have been nice if the rooms were warmer. The owner/host was very helpful. Thanks for a wonderful experience.
My husband and I enjoyed how quiet and relaxing our stay was. This place is beautiful. We love the deck and hot tub. Perfect for a couples getaway.
This property is absolutely beautiful! We loved waking up to the river running through the back of the property. Just what we were looking for!
What a great get-away. A couple bumps in the beginning but addressed immediately. The reservation was non-refundable, so had I known how steep the stairs were to get to the apartment, I would have canceled due to upcoming knee surgery. Unfortunately, I got sick and checked out after my second night. I don't know if the owner will refund me, or honor a stay in the future. I would like a refund because I don't know when I'll be able to climb up and down stairs. It is what it is...but I enjoyed my two nights. Prayers to
The cabin was perfect! Just listening to the river water running past the cabin was more than enough. Would definitely stay here again and would refer to friends. The owner Bruce and his wife were amazing. Thank you both!
Stayed at Bruce’s unit as part of a Fall trip from the UK. Really enjoyed the location, spotting Otters in the river while sitting on a great veranda. Spent most of our time here. Hot tub was a great spot to chill after local hikes. Lots of great spots to explore locally. Unit had all the facilities we needed to prepare meals etc. Clean and spacious. Would come back in a heartbeat.
My husband and I always try to go away on our anniversary and thought we would try something different this year and Bat Cave did not disappoint. Our cottage was perfect for the 2 of us. We spent most of our time on the covered deck(thank goodness since Hurricane Ian decided to dump rain and wind on us.) We got a call from Bruce on our way up there saying something was wrong with the hot tub and he is working on getting it fixed. It wasn't going to be able to be fixed until the next day so he was gracious enough to let us use the hot tub at his other rental property next door. A hot tub in the cold, rainy weather is a must on a weekend getaway. Bruce went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional. I can definitely see us coming back to Bat Cave in the future.
Just as advertised.
Would highly recommend this place.Bruce the owner was a really nice person.
The property was amazing. It was very clean and very quiet. Bruce was so kind and made the experience of checking in and checking out very easy.
The place was everything I needed!
Process was easy to get this place. The deck overlooking the River is great. The sounds of the river can lull you to sleep at night. You have a lot of options to keep yourself busy or just enjoy the deck.
The 1 bedroom apartment was nice and clean however not as private as I thought when I booked online. It is an attached apartment. However, we barely heard the owners or other vacationers. The perks were the porch had a breathtaking view, hot tub was nice and very clean, and the location to town and shopping was convenient.
We loved our time here and did not want to leave. We were on the back deck anytime we were there. Loved the view and the stream running below us, every meal was eaten out there. Loved it
The back porch was incredible.
We had a great time the porch overlooking the river was great!
Excellent host, clean and cozy, perfect for 2 people. The pics are real but don’t do it justice until you see it in person. We went to Biltmore, Chimney Rock, and Chimney Rock Village. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back. Thank you again to our hosts.
