Bar Harbor, Maine
A wonderful waterfront location with expansive views from most rooms of the water, Porcupine Islands and Bar Harbor all 1/4 mile from the main entrance to Acadia National Park! On the first floor you'll find a newly renovated kitchen, dining room with views, large living room, a bedroom (with views), den with sleeper sofa, a full bath and a glassed in sunporch with spectacular views. Upstairs, you'll find four more bedrooms~three bedrooms with en suite baths and another bedroom and bath as well as the laundry room. There is a nice lawn area, deck, gazebo and steps to the beach with canoe and kayaks (shared with the guest house) provided for your use. You may never leave the property! If you do decide to venture out, the park is just around the corner and downtown Bar Harbor is a five minute drive. For larger parties, can be rented with the Covend Guest House 1673537
All of the rentals are one week minimum stay and run from Friday to Friday. Sorry but we can not accommodate "odd" week rentals.
Despite all the rain we had a great trip and we’re able to do everything we wanted. Loved the house and views if I had any suggestions it would be to cut the two trees right outside the porch as it obstructed the view depending on where you were sitting.
House has lots of character. Great location.
Amazing property! We will be back! Perfect location… minutes from Acadia National Park and less than 10 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. The views from the home were perfect! There are a lot of random steps, so it’s a little tough with very young kids. We had two 1-year-olds who just stared walking and we did fine (just wanted to mention). 5 stars!
No problems renting property
Private bathrooms for each of the upstairs bedrooms was a big plus. Kitchen was just fine.
Kayaking. Biking. Shopping. Good restaurants
Amazing view, convenient location, suitable amenities with enough space for everyone to feel private and altogether at the same time. The outdoor areas are comfortable and well maintained. Lots of areas to settle down and relax. Prompt response with any troubleshooting. The available kayaks need some repairs and the general cleaning was a little rough on the edges.
We all loved Hulls Cove - fabulous location, the views were unbeatable, a gazebo with table and benches for game playing, access to 3 kayaks & a canoe and everyone has their own bathroom. We've rented thru VRBO many times and this was by far the most well equipped - everything you need from mix master to coffee filters. Very handy is the little grocery/bakery down the street (wonderful muffins). Highly recommend Acadia Lobster boat, bike rentals from Bar Harbor bikes (splurge on the e-bikes, hilly Acadia national park trails makes it worth it) and Thurston's Lobster Pound.
Perfect location just out The part and minutes from downtown. The house itself was exactly the Maine cottage feel we were looking for in a family vacation.
We LOVED our stay at Cove End but there were a couple of issues that I will address. 1)For the reviews that talk about the cold water....we did not have ANY issues with the cold water. We discovered you have to make sure to turn the shower lever around quite a bit; then the water is VERY hot. The downstairs bath did have lukewarm water, but it was manageable. 2) For the reviews about the traffic noise, there was traffic noise but it was really not that much of a distractor. The reason I did not rate as 5 star is as follows: 1) While the house was clean, it could use a deep clean, 2) Directions to house were a bit challenging to follow. We discovered our GPS gave us better directions, 3) there was no hairdryer (while that is not a big deal it would be nice to have one), 4) cleaning expectations are excessive and unrealistic for people with super early flights. With a 9:30 a.m hard check-out, and early morning flights, having to have the sheets, bath mats, and towels washed is excessive and unrealistic. With that said, I would like to say Cove End is VERY roomy and homey. There is plenty of seating for everyone in both the living room and the sunroom. We all had our own space and did not feel like we were under each other. The property manager, Jennifer, was extremely responsive when I contacted her. The office is AWESOME and fully stocked with two monitors, 3 docking stations (hp, dell, and one other one), a printer, and various office supplies (great perk as one of us had to work two of our vaca days!!!). The grounds around the home were wonderful....tons of outdoor space and a beautiful waterfront view. The tide is about 12ft so it is fun to see the different views from low to high tide. The house is FULLY stocked with pots/pans, all sorts of dishes as well as other hardware (extension cords, etc.). Finally, parking is EXCELLENT!!! We had private parking directly in front of the house with plenty of room to park our two vehicles. Overall, I highly recommend Cove End for your family vacation. It was a great house, but NOTE: handicap accessibility is not ideal because there are a lot of step-up and downs throughout the house (it is an older home..not a distraction for us, but others may need to know that). Would not hesitate to stay at Cove End again.
