Bailey Island, Maine
Charming ocean front cottage with wrap-around deck. Wake-up to sunrise and coffee on the deck while the seals, ducks, eagles and cormorants enjoy the morning calm. Read a book on the deck while the lobstermen pull their traps, the fishermen catch the striped bass and the sailors glide past. Bring your fishing pole!
Stay local and visit gift shops, restaurants, the Giant Steps, hiking areas and sandy Cedar Beach. Rent a kayak and explore the Merriconeag Sound, take a sailing excursion. After dinner, walk 1 minute up the road to watch the sunset on the other side of the island.
Dogs are allowed at Sunrise Cottage but there is an accompanying "pet fee" of $60 per night per pet.
We recommend a car for your stay here on Bailey Island; we are 25 minutes from Brunswick's shopping and dining.

Traveling from VA with 2 dogs, this was a perfect spot. The house was cozy and the location was secluded enough to give us the freedom to roam this gorgeous landscape.
Basic cabin, but fantastic deck right on the rocky coast. Waves crashing right outside your window is the best! The twin mattresses weren't comfortable, but the queen was ok.
We spent four nights at Sunrise Cottage. A tropical storm came through and knocked out power for 18 hours. The owner brought us a rechargeable lantern that night as there weren’t many supplies in the cottage. The day after the storm was a lovely day and we took advantage of the deck and watched the high surf crashing on the rocks. The owner made sure we were all set, the power had thankfully come back on. We were able to see the cottage in fog, storm, and sun and it was great in all 3. We were very comfortable there, and our dog liked walking the roads around the cottage and down to Lands End. We hope to be back someday.
Nice little hidden gem of a place.
beautiful location with comfortable and homey feel.
A rustic but very comfortable cabin with all the amenities we could have wanted, including an awning over the deck and high chairs which allowed us the most amazing view of the Bay under a hot sun or light rain. An arm on each chair was broken when we arrived, understandable as they are needed to hoist up, but perfectly serviceable as was everything. The constant sound of crashing waves was exactly what we needed to forget about work for a few days and nights. Best sleep I've had in months! Overall a wonderful retreat! Very grateful for the opportunity.
I LOVED the porch and the view!! The house was a bit smaller than I'd hoped. My elderly husband and I sleep in separate beds and the little beds in the second bedroom were inferior in that they only had soft mattresses and no box springs! Bad for an my old spine! They need to be replaced. Perhaps the TV channels (or lack of them) couldn't be helped but we missed watching the news and regular shows. However, I would return probably if I could be assured that the second bedroom had better (adult) beds. I enjoyed becoming aquainted with the area.
I loved this cabin. The view was spectacular.
We did nothing but relax and it was perfect
Gorgeous location. We had rain almost the entire time, but were still able to relax and enjoy ourselves.
We had a beautiful fall weekend on Bailey Island. The views are extraordinary and the sounds of crashing waves lulled us to sleep! The cottage is adorable and it was wonderful to have our dog with us. A perfect spot to take in lovely coastal Maine.
Other reviews of rustic and comfortable are spot on. Nothing fancy but everything you need for a relaxing get away. We arrived at night and couldn’t wait for the view in the morning. It didn’t disappoint! You can’t beat million dollar views while sipping coffee in the morning. Thanks for sharing this wonderful gem!
This was the perfect location for a quiet weekend away to enjoy coastal Maine. Rustic but very clean. We'll be back!
Although the weather wasn't up to snuff, the cozy cottage, its magnificent views and soothing sounds of the surf more than made up for it.
My girlfriend and I had an amazing stay at this cabin. View was amazing and sunrises were spectacular. It was great listening to the waves crashing. Great to fall asleep to. Although I had no luck, it seems like a popular place to fish as saw many fishing boats and fisherman. Cabin was very comfortable and David was great to communicate with. Highly recommend.
Exactly what I would expect my Maine vacation - rustic, cozy, and great views.
What a hidden gem! The home was perfect for families, couples, or anybody looking for time away. It’s not luxury, but comfortable for a family and dogs for sure! The house was comfy, but the real attraction is the coast of Maine and its beautiful rocky shores! My family spent a weekend here and enjoyed looking at all the beautiful slate and quartz slabs, trying to scavenge for quartz pieces (I found red, white, and smoky quartz!). The kids had a great time looking for caves and exploring the landscape, as well as my dogs, who kept attempting to become one with the woods. We enjoyed waking up and walking with the dogs and especially enjoyed watching the sunrise over the rocks. Overall, it was a beautiful escape into nature, and we’re looking forward to one day returning!
