Ambrose Cottage Castlemaine

Delightful cottage exactly as advertised. Clean and comfortable. Everything supplied was either in keeping with the heritage (lovely hand sewn needlework etc) or functional and modern (dishwasher!). Lovely bed and excellent bathroom linens. Extras in bathroom, which we didn't use, could be very handy if guests have forgotten to bring - very thoughtful touch.

Was perfect for us, and our fur baby, great location, just wish we knew about the BIG step inside the house, as I’m quite disabled and found it difficult. Also the shower over the bath was a little hard but I managed.

A well presented tiny cottage with heating and cooling available. The kitchen is well appointed and there were some tea & coffee and biscuits supplied. Towels were lovely and soft.

Cute and cosy home in a quiet location, with everything you need. Cottage is within easy walking distance to The Mill, Botanic Gardens and Buda House, and a short drive to the CBD and other attractions. A very enjoyable stay.

The little touches. Ice ready for cold drinks, lollies for the sweet tooth, bathroom like cotton buds, cotton pads, sanitary items. The ambience of a quite area and everything needed for a really comfortable stay.

Heater was needed in the mornings. Worked great. Bought our own airfryer to cook our lunch, so as not to dirty the oven. Very clean and honey.

Everything we needed was available. Our dog loved the back yard. Cody too on a cold day/night!

We loved staying is this delightful and beautifully appointed cottage, from the cushions in the lounge room to the bird feeder outside the kitchen window. Perfect!

Nice little relaxing and cosy property. It had everything that we needed for our stay. It was pet friendly, which was great. Our little dog loved it as much as we did. The hosts were very nice and had great communication. We would definitely recommend this little place if you want a relaxing break. It’s also a great and easy commute to Castlemaine and surrounding areas.

Nice quiet location. Private backyard and enjoyed putting seeds out for the birds that was supplied. Everything you needed was there re. kitchen/laundry.

The cottage was ideal for our stay, being walking distance to the centre of Castlemaine, the Mill precinct and local reserves. Inside, the cottage is cosy with all the amenities you could want for a very comfortable stay. Beautiful linens and thoughtful touches enhanced the experience. Communication with our hosts was friendly and prompt. I would highly recommend Ambrose Cottage as a base from which to explore Castlemaine and its surrounds.

A small cosy cottage that suited our short stay in Castlemaine. With temperatures one morning at mius 4 it was still extremely comfortable. Supplied everything we needed for our stay. Thanks.

A lovly old cottage, clean and cosy, with everything you need. Close to the centre of town, coffee shops and eateries.

Charming. Loved this cottage from the moment we got there to the moment we left. All home comforts. Close to town centre. Close to Botanical Gardens. Great street/location ambience. Secure yard for our dogs. Small touches like night light located on step down into kitchen and a bird feeder with stock of bird seed. Property is what description says it is.

Photos and description do not show the bathroom fully as bath and shower are combined in clawfoot tub and are listed separately. I was not able to access the bath during our stay. There is also a deep step down to the kitchen and bathroom area. Lighting is also dim and there needs to be a light over the stove so you can see what you are cooking on the back plate.

Perfect for a weekend

We were very happy with everything, exactly what we expected. One thing upset us was the step from the two front rooms to the two back rooms, I do not remember reading about it and at 84 we had to be extra careful.

The cottage is beautifully presented and lovely and clean. Nice little touches such as sweets and biscuits.Great yard for our small dog to run around. Kitchen is well equipped and the air conditioner was fantastic in the warm weather. There is no WiFi so no Netflix, but there was several options to watch in the way of videos. Will definitely be back to stay again

I enjoyed my stay in Ambrose cottage. There were lots of lovely touches in this gorgeous cottage. Location great, layout was lovely and roomy. Few little things - DVD did not work, had to put the smelly thing outside, it was really strong. BBQ did not give much heat. I was concerned about the safety of the bath, it was beautiful, but quite hazardous getting in and out. I managed fine, but it could be quite a risk for elderly people. Still apart from that, I had a lovely stay, thank you Ruth and Paul.

The cottage is in a central location and guests are well catered for. Thoughtful bits through out, decorations, putting AC on before l arrived. Cottage is comfortable in hot weather but has good yard for dogs to enjoy.

This delightful 4 room historic cottage suited our accommodation requirements perfectly. It was comfortably furnished, well equipped and our hosts had thoughtfully provided some little extras in both the bathroom and kitchen. We will hopefully be back soon.

The property is very well kept and has every amenity you could think of and even some you couldn’t . Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom. A large back yard with roses and a bird feeder, perfect place to relax. Good location, town centre nearby.

Everything you would need was provided plus a lot of extras, such as dog bowls, leads and poo bags, bird seed for the bird feeder, cleaning cloths for the BBQ and lots more little details to make life easier.

Ambrose cottage had a quaint ambience to it. Very comfortable with all the required necessities. Hosts were very accommodating and kept us well informed. Location was perfect, quiet area but close to cafes, shopping and attractions. Highly recommend.

This cottage is cosy, clean and well situated. Very steep step to the bathroom & kitchen is not good for anyone with mobility issues. . Also has no wi-fi
