This amazing cottage is a former Girl Scout house built in the late 1800's in Summerville and moved to the property in 2003. A screened porch was added overlooking the Toogoodoo River !
When you want to press the pause button, or slow down a bit, we welcome you to Toogoodoo Bluff! Take the dirt road and turn into this oasis sitting on the Toogoodoo River. The views are pristine and undisturbed . Enjoy a cup of joe or an evening cocktail and listen to the night sounds of cicadas!
Toogoodoo Bluff sits on a high bluff overlooking the deep Toogoodoo Creek and wide marshes. As for the structures, all three have different backgrounds.
The Farmhouse dates back to the mid to late 1700's, and includes a unique architectural feature of a rain porch with extended roof. The house was disassembled in the mid 1990's and numbered board by board and then reconstructed on the current site. It was not finished until 2006.
The Log Cabin dates back to the early 1800's. It was located in the low mountains of Spartanburg County in SC near the border of NC. It was also disassembled and reconstructed on the current site. The reconstruction included the addition of a kitchen, bathroom and front porch.
The Girl Scout Cabin was built in the late 1880’s and was used for years in Summerville, SC. The cabin was located to the property in 2003 where an amazing screened in porch was placed on the water side of the structure.
Toogoodoo is close to the town of Hollywood, SC. A sleepy town 20 minutes south of Charleston, SC. You will find several restaurants, including award winning Italian restaurant Pane E Vino. Perfect backwater getaway!
If you’re looking to get back to nature, and away from the hustle and bustle in the toogoodoo bluff is the place to be. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a gorgeous view, and the A/C on. At night you could hear nature and not cars. The accommodations were all that we asked for and more. We will definitely be visiting again.
Location and view are excellent. Spent lots of time on the huge screened in porch. Well stocked towels and shower is forceful, which was appreciated. King bed was very comfortable. Very small fridge. Missed having a freezer for ice. It was great to have a Speed Queen washer and drier. The cottage was heavily decorated but still very appealing. It needed a good dusting and sweeping. The owner and her dog were very friendly and also live in a farmhouse on the property.
Great place to get away for a weekend. Beautiful view from the dock.
Tranquility. Kayaked with dolphins (checked off bucket list). Had an absolute blast. Traffic a little heavy approaching Charleston, but well worth it. Pleasant reprieve after a longer than expected drive to Charleston, but drive is pretty and gives you time to wind down. Bring and use bug spray!
We loved this little cottage. The setting on the title river, with a dock and a hammock and the screened in porch was just perfect. It is away from things enough to be peaceful and restful, but not too far. Janie was very helpful with the questions I had before we checked in. The place was clean and quaint, and we will definitely be back!
My husband & I had a wonderful stay, just outside Charleston away from the noise and crowd but close enough to sightsee & do all the tourist stuff as well. Janie is a wonderful host and the property and views are amazing! The cottage has everything for a quiet get away and Janie recommended the perfect restaurant! We would love to stay here again!
Just a warning: once you arrive at this cabin, you will no longer want to keep up with your travel itineraries. This property is so peaceful that I could’ve spent an entire week on the dock. Bring bug spray, but the screened in porch is amazing and where we spent the majority of our time. Simple accommodations, but everything you need for an escape. A little distance from downtown Charleston, but there is an amazing dinner spot only 5 minutes up the road, so you definitely don’t have to travel into the city for a good experience. Will definitely be back
This place was beyond perfect for a peaceful weekend! We felt so “at home” that my husband and I really just wanted to stay longer! We enjoyed the fantastic scenery, grilling out, sunsets, and meeting Janie was the icing on the cake!
