We stayed in this charming and cozy house on the Isle of Skye for four days, using it as a home base while exploring the entire island each day. The service was seamless, and the host was incredibly understanding and responsive. Located not far from the Talisker Distillery, the home offers breathtaking views overlooking the Loch, with plenty of friendly sheep adding to the idyllic atmosphere. If peace and tranquility are what you seek, this is the perfect place to stay. While there is a small community store with limited hours nearby, it's important to note that the closest town with shops and dining is about a 20–30 minute drive. This remoteness adds to the charm but is something to keep in mind for planning meals and supplies. With three bedrooms, one bath, and a bonus area, the home met our needs comfortably. We encountered a few hiccups with the heating, but the host promptly answered our call and informed us about a small heater, which we used in the common space, and we made it work. We also appreciated having a washer and dryer to refresh our clothing for the rest of our journey. There appears to be some mold starting in the laundry room, but it’s being addressed. A dehumidifier is available to help combat the damp atmosphere, which is helpful in this climate. Overall, this home provided a warm and peaceful retreat in one of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes. I would stay here again.

Not the best experience. We did not receive any information on gaining access to the property until multiple messages through the app had been sent even after check in time had passed. Something went amiss with the hot water tank on our second night (after completing three Scottish versions of “walks”) so we had to sponge bathe. Issue was remedied the next day. Overall, this property is loaded with potential but needs investment of time and money. Didn’t like the note to call someone to announce we had arrived as it seems unnecessary when booked via Expedia/VRBO, plus we didn’t have voice capability on travel eSIMs. Do not recommend.

This house is really spacious and kitchen is equipped with everything you would ever need. The washer and dryer was a real plus as was the fireplace! The heater on a timer was a bit strange but we worked around it. Bed mattresses and pillows not the greatest but sufficient. The view is wonderful but if you are looking for a place with stuff close by, this is not for you. Quiet., peaceful perfect for us! There is a tiny convenient store / post office about 1.5 miles down the hill also a couple of places to eat. The road in really tests your driving skills but grows on you after a few times. Plan on driving a bit to see any of the sights but all are well worth the drive. The fairy pools are quite close, everything else is a bit of a poke. Overall, quite comfortable and I would highly recommend. Keith, the caretaker, was great and the house was impeccably clean!

We loved the location! It was great having a dryer. House layout was great, especially loved the sun room. The room with the double bed was very comfortable, but the rooms with the 2 twins were not adequate for adults-very springy and soft. Supplies were inadequate for our group of 6.

We had difficulties locating the property and we were unable to reach the host and her caretaker via the phone numbers that were provided. Fortunately we were able to find the property after running back and forth the road. Once inside the property everything was fine. The property had proper heating and amenities that provided us with a comfortable stay. It was very spacious so we had our own space.

The house has wonderful views and is well located near Carbost and most things you would want to see. It is up a long, narrow road, better traveled for the first time during the day, but then most places up there are! The house was warmer than expected, but it could use some new blankets.

While the cottage is cute and has an amazing view, the photos are extremely dated as are some of the amenities. It's not a drive you would want to make in the dark, so go early and add an extra 20-25 minutes to any day trip you would like to take. The house is no longer alone on the hill as neighbors have encroached so if you are looking at that gorgeous photo of the isolated cottage (as I was) it's a disappointment. In addition, there are now 14 VERY steep stairs. It accommodates improved parking, but it would have been nice to know beforehand.I am certain there will be updates to the property and that will make it a five star booking. As it is, if the photos were current, we'd been able to make an informed choice and might have chosen a different location.

photo's of the listing are not accurate. The large steps on the entrance are replaced by a high steep stair. If I had known this, I would not have booked this place since stairs are an obstacle to me.Tough the property looks good on photo, and the rest of the photo's is correct, the bathroom needs some maintenanceThe cottage has a good heating and comfortable seats, kitchen is well equiped. The bedrooms are spacious and pleasant. But for the main bedroom, a king size or 2 1-persons beds would be al lot more comfortable and the room is large enough. In my opinion the matras is to hard.

Very comfortable home with lots of room. Great for a base to explore Skye or to just relax. The house was very clean, but a little worn and the kitchen equipment a bit sparse. The Talisker distillery is close by and The Old Inn is definitely worth a visit for a pint and some food.

The house was very clean and very warm and dry! We did incur lots of rain & listening to it in the sunroom was quite nice. There were no surprises about the property which is good. We walked to and from the distillery, allow a good 30 minutes each way. Also loved the home's sunroom with view of pasture and sheep. Well equipped with everything you need for cooking. Be prepared with groceries although tiny store near distillery, not sure of hours. Cute inn and pub. Make reservations for tours and dinner. Fantastic!

Peaceful, Authentic Escape with Breathtaking Views! Our stay at this remote spot on the Isle of Skye was truly something special. The location was absolutely stunning — surrounded by incredible views of the loche, rolling hills, and open skies. It felt like a true escape from the world, quiet and peaceful, yet close enough to explore Skye’s beauty. What made this place stand out was the authentic, local feel. It didn’t feel touristy or overly polished — instead, it gave us a real sense of life on Skye, which made the experience all the more meaningful and memorable. The space was cozy, comfortable, and perfectly suited for relaxing after a day of exploring. We loved waking up to the views right outside the window — you just can’t beat that.If you’re looking for a genuine, scenic, and unforgettable stay on Skye, this is the perfect place. Highly recommend!

Location was great, excellent views from both the front and back, parking was really convenient, property manager was very nice (showed us a couple of things and gave some insight about hikes in the area). However, if cleanliness is important to you, this might not be the pick. The floors were swept and the counters wiped, but the caulking in the sunroom was moldy, the blinds were broken, towels were old and in poor condition, the bathroom was in very poor condition (window closure was broken and stuck slightly open, the caulk around the tub was missing, mold all around the tub, mold in the window, mold along the trim on the outside of the tub, the floor was squishy and felt rotten, bath tub faucet did not work), all of the carpet was stained and very old. All of the faucets in the house dripped unless you REALLY wrenched on them (which, in turn, made them difficult to open). The cookware was mostly in poor condition and we were really only able to find one useable pan. No handsoap provided in the bathroom.

Friendly neighbors down the street let us feed their sheep. The home was our comfortable base for exploring the Quiraing Road, Mealt Falls/Kilt Rock, Old Man Storr, Portree, and the Fairy Pools.
