It was an exceptional property in an exceptional setting. Gary was very thoughtful and someone showed us in. The kitchen was fully ready for cooking, and the bedrooms were pretty big, as well as the living room and shared terraces. Most popular restaurants (including Bahr's Landing) were within walking distance. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely look for the property in the future.

This was the perfect place for my family to stay for the holidays! Wonderful apartment with all the amenities needed and then some! It was perfectly located - a quick drive (or we could even walk) to the shore and Sandi Hook along with several restaurants and the Twin Lights. I was able to watch the sunrise from the kitchen and deck every morning which was wonderful! There was a small park on the water a very short walk up the road for our dogs. Plenty of parking on site. Everyone we met was extremely kind and friendly. Entrance to the apartment was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Gary was an absolute pleasure to work with and was extremely accommodating when we had to cut our stay short by a day due to an impending snowstorm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely love to stay again!

Everything was smooth, very comfortable, well stocked

As always extremely welcoming, clean and warm.

Overall the house was good, just wish there had been more lighting and more clarity on where some basic things like towels were. Also, the shower didn't have even the basic of body wash, shampoo, etc that we could find.

We really enjoyed our stay. This was our second visit and we hope to return again. Our host was very accommodating and quick to respond to our questions during our stay. The location is very convenient to amenities. We were able to walk to dinner and of course being on the water with my boat out back was ideal to meet the needs of our trip. We were all very comfortable through out our stay. The place was clean the beds were comfortable the shower had excellent water pressure and the kitchen was well stocked. Thanks again to our host for all that you did to make our stay so enjoyable.

Great location and view!

This was our 3rd stay at the property, first stay in this specific unit. The family and everyone around the property are all very friendly. The unit has beautiful water views from the large deck on either side. So close to all the best of Highlands. The unit could use updated furniture. Especially the outdoor furniture since the outdoor space is likely where you’ll be spending your time. But anywhere on this property is the place to stay in Highlands!

What a great property! The property managers are super responsive, the space is well appointed, and everything is comfortable. If you aren’t lucky enough to have your own family beach house, this is a perfect alternative.

Loved the deck and the view. Great location near Atlantic Highlands and Red Bank where we saw a show at The Count Basie Theater.

The Overlook Cottage was an AMAZING vacation stay, with stunning views from both decks - which TRULY ROCKED because when the sun was beating down on one, i went to the other which was in the shade, and vice versa!!! Gary was extremely kind and communicative! Neighbors who live around the compound permanently were SO WONDERFUL ‼‼ I could live there permanently with these people who were TRUE Jersey Shore gems‼‼‼i have ALWAYS LOVED the Highlands, and being RIGHT ON THE WATER in this family owned property was such a blessing! Clean, well cared for, cozy, EVERYTHING provided for you that you could need to check in (kitchen products, toilet paper, clean comfy bedding and towels, and SO much more….etc)…WALKING DISTANCE TO SO MUCH FUN …. Including Sandy Hook beach days (a FREE PASS is included in the rental for as many folks as you can fit in your car - what a perk‼‼‼)….as well as all kinds of bars and restaurants right there ‼‼‼ I tried to rebook for next year, but Gary has very loyal regular renters…which is completely understandable….i was lucky to get ONE YEAR‼‼‼ So if you get the chance to rent, DO IT‼‼‼ You will NOT be sorry

So I've grown up in this area and came back from my niece's wedding and my husband and I decided to stay for the month. The rental is amazingly charming. There's plenty of space and it was very clean. We enjoyed meeting Peter for check-in and it felt like we were already at home. We love sitting on the back deck and watching the boats go by, and there's so much room to enjoy your time there! The air conditioning worked great and we also enjoyed going out to the dock and fishing and even met what are likely lifelong friends this stay! Felt like Family! We especially enjoyed walking to the local bars and restaurants. If you came with the pup believe me, it is a very dog friendly place and write down the street as a dog park with bags and there's lots of dogs in the neighborhood.! We are looking forward to doing it again soon, and I would never hesitate to book this property!!!

Everything was perfect for our stay. The dock for our boat was very nice had everything we needed inside and outside the property. The people were so friendly and gave us many suggestions for around town . We will be back very soon !

A stress-free stay. We were kindly greeted when we arrived and shown where we could park and where the keys to the unit were. It is on the second floor and stairs are a little steep. Very clean unit with two patios with a nice view. Overall would recommend!

The little condo had everything we needed. It was in a great spot with outstanding views and wonderful nearby places for seafood and fun.

We've stayed here before and simply love the location. Our retriever/pit mix enjoyed both porches as we did too. Had the whole local family come over for a Sunday old fashioned dinner. We'll be back.

Really enjoyed our stay in the Highlands. There were beautiful views along with comfortable outside seating on two different decks. Everything you needed for your stay, including a Keurig coffee maker. The interior was very well maintained. The couch and beds were very comfortable along with soft pillows. There are several restaurants in walking distance. Our golden doodle enjoyed catching the breeze on the deck. I highly recommend this rental.

Great location on the water and tons of great options to eat around the corner, and sea streak station into the city in close proximity. Communication and check in were a breeze, and a check in suprised of soda bread and homemade butter were on the counter for st Pattie’s day.

Peter and Gary were fantastic. Peter was always available even for a nice conversation. Our neighbors were nice and the views were fantastic. We stayed 2 months and would come back for a quick get away for sure.

Great stay in Highlands, NJ. Really appreciate how easy the host was to interact with, and the cottage was exactly as advertised. Would stay again.

This was my second stay with Gary and my first stay in the Overlook Cottage. Check-in and check-out were flawless. Easy communication with the host is available when needed. The Overlook Cottage is an outstanding place to stay with incredible views of the Shrewsbury River, Sandy Hook and the NYC skyline. I highly recommend this host and properties!

I had a meeting in the area for work and decided to make it a small getaway for my family. It was the best trip we've had on a while. Plenty of awesome restaurants in walking distance, as well as a playground and beachfront for the kids to play. The property itself was comfortable and beautiful. The owner was kind and helpful. The ensuite laundry is a bonus, too. Literally not a bad word to say. We'll be back!

My husband and I stopped here on our cross country roadtrip honeymoon. The location was excellent, loved all the patios!

The view from the balcony overlooking the water was beautiful! The location is less than 10 mins away from local restaurants & bars. Space was clean and exactly what we needed while we attended a wedding over the weekend.

Larry's place is beautiful, clean, and close to many of the restaurants, bars, parks and beaches that I love in the Highlands area. This was my second stay there, and I noticed that he updated some of the appliances. It's a fair value and one of my best vacation rental experiences.

Very spacious 2 bedroom with 2 comfy decks. Short walk to beach and restaurants. Loved sitting on the deck and relaxing.

Highly recommend visting this gem. It was a great location and the back deck was so peaceful in the morning overlooking the water. The listing was exactly as described and was very clean. We would stay again.

We had a great stay! The view was beautiful, the place was clean and cozy. The neighborhood was really quiet and a great seafood restaurant called Bahrs was down the street! It was an an absolutely great experience and Gary and the groundkeeper were so helpful in answering questions and were so available to us. We definitely would recommend this place to anyone.
