We went for a long weekend. The house was spacious and the living room was lovely with a huge log burner. Things that let the property down were mainly the kitchen area. The fridge had duct tape holding up the shelves which led to only half the available space useable and quite frankly, un hygienic. There wasnt enough cutlery for the amount of people able to stay here. The kitchen was dirty and did not supply enough big pans etc for a house that is supposedly sufficient for 6 people. Every other Sykes property i have stayed in there has been a courtesy pint of milk or welcome gift from the owner. This property had nothing but a scrappy note on how to fix the boiler should it brake. The property lacked care and attention and it felt like the owner is not interested in wether you have a pleasant stay or not. I will not be returning to this property again and feel a little disappointed with Sykes for this listing.

I’ve had a lovely week away with my family for February half term. This property is located perfectly for some lovely walks and the local pub is right next door. However I was a little disappointed with the inside of this property and feel it definitely needs some attention. On arrival we didn’t receive a welcome package as described in the welcome book and other reviews. The dishwasher was filled with dirty cutlery/pots on arrival and the sink was full with dirty water and a dirty cloth. There was no dishwasher tablets so we couldn’t even pop the dishwasher on to wash all the dirty dishes. There were no teaspoons or mugs but soon realised these were all dirty in the dishwasher. The log burner was also left from the last guests and wasn’t cleaned prior to our arrival. In the guest book it does state that the fire would be prepared for arrival but this wasn’t the case. It also wasn’t made clear what we did with the rubbish and the outside bins were all full of black bags. The majority of the house was a little grubby and in need of some attention. Cobwebs, damp in the walls and dust everywhere. The wii game supplied in the property also doesn’t work and my 3 daughters were a little disappointed they couldn’t play. (The remotes don’t appear to charge). There is some games provided but half of these have the pieces missing and some of the jigsaw is also missing. Having said all this myself and my family have really enjoyed our week spending some quality time together.
