Castleway cottage is a charming and rustic historic 1100 square foot three season cottage, just steps away from the Pamet River which opens up into Cape Cod Bay, one mile south of Corn Hill Beach. Built in the 1890's as an artist's colony, Castleway is one of 8 Sladeville cottages (built by Mr. Slade), which are steps from a private riverfront on the Pamet River. Bring your kayaks, canoes and floats, or use ours ! Pet friendly. Cottage is simple and charming, with a remodeled kitchen, firstfloor full bath with tub and shower, outdoor shower, two small bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second, along with a half bath. Sleeps 7-8 comfortably. Entire inside freshly painted, including all ceilings - some of the photos are before ceilings were all painted white, will update with new photos soon. Living room has a working fireplace. Dining room table can seat 8-10. There is a small TV in the living room and a second one in the upstairs master bedroom. Internet is provided and signal is good, as is a land line for local calls (cell phone service can be spotty). Rustic and old fashioned but clean and functional. Bedrooms are small but recently painted with some water views, a reading chair in each of the first floor bedrooms and windows for nice light and ventilation. All new hybrid mattresses in every bedroom and linens are new or in good condition. Dressers and closets in all bedrooms.

Kitchen includes quartz counters, pine cabinets, and all customary kitchen equipment including microwave, drip and keurig coffee makers, washer & dryer, pots and pans, dishes and plenty of utensils. BRING YOUR OWN BED LINENS AND TOWELS, WE PROVIDE ALL PILLOWS, BLANKETS AND QUILTS. (Linens and towels can be provided for an additional fee if notified in advance). Outdoor shower is heavenly.

Property also includes outdoor adirondack chairs, a gas grill, a polywood dining table plus 6 polywood chairs and an outdoor umbrella. Free standing hammock for those lazy naps. 8 beach chairs, foam noodles and floats available for your use. Parking spaces for two cars, and three additional guest spots may be available if needed but not guaranteed (shared with other units on first come first serve basis ). Swing set for children and large grassy area in front of the cottages for outdoor play. Leashed dogs permitted for an additional $150 fee per dog. Professionally cleaned before and after each guest. Saturday-Saturday arrival and departure during peak summer weeks. Built-in electric heaters installed in master bedroom, living room and first floor hallway outside full bathroom which can also serve to heat the queen bedroom. All other rooms have portable electric heaters for warmth in the shoulder seasons. Plenty of fans in each room for hot summer days. No AC.

Note - Although it may not appear so on the google map, the Pamet River flows right out to Cape Cod Bay, so you can take a kayak or canoe from our cottage, and paddle out to the bay beaches within a few short minutes, as well as stop along the way in Truro harbor, where you can moor or anchor larger boats.

Fantastic family destination. Also great for one couple or family, or as many as three couples, and extended families. Many repeat guests over many decades.

For a change of pace, please check out our one and two bedroom waterfront cottages in North Truro (#3506195 & 5076989), our 3 bedroom walk-to-water all season cape (#976979) and our charming 4 bedroom house in Woodstock, Vermont (#3809315), which is great in both winter (for skiing as it's near Killington, Pico & Okemo mountains) and summer/fall.

Host Liz is responsive and very kind. The house is quaint with a historic feel, and I fully enjoyed my stay. The old windows all around are wonderful, providing light, cross ventilation and a beautiful view from the dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, although there is no dishwasher and the stove requires a grill lighter. The washer and drier work well. The house smells fresh despite its proximity to the river, which I appreciated due to my mold allergy. The shared grounds are spacious and tranquil, with a swing set that my grandchildren loved and my personal favorite: 2 adirondack chairs set overlooking the river, that my 8 yr old granddaughter and I sat in to paint watercolors. The wiring is upgraded with lots of surge protectors provided. There are just a few problems I should mention: 1) My over 6' tall son-in-law had a problem with the bed that is advertised as a king, but is in actuality 2 twin beds pushed together. At 5'3 I had not been aware of this, but twin beds are shorter than king size, and he was very uncomfortable sleeping with his legs & feet dangling. 2) There is no air conditioning as advertised. Mostly the cross ventilation and multiple fans spread throughout work well, but there were a few days and evenings when the house was uncomfortably hot. 3) The old floors might need to be checked by an engineer (?) for stability and safety as they are not level, & in some places (esp. under the tub and upstairs) quite shaky.

Lovely home, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully equipped with absolutely everything you’d need or want. Overlooks a salt marsh on the Pamet — which makes for a great walk. Various boating options on property. Very caring host.

We loved our stay in this turn of the century beach cottage sitting high above the Pamet River. The decor is comfortable, relaxed, and aesthetically pleasing. Loved the cool breezes off the river and swims in the marsh at high tide. Cottage is well equipped and had ample room for our 5 to 7 adults. Looking forward to returning again!

This is our second family stay in Castleway and hope to return annually. We feel enveloped in coziness in the home and the setting on Pamet Pond is absolutely stunning. The house is very user friendly and equipped with all one needs for a lovey time. The owners are wonderful to communicate with and very responsive. We can't receommend this cottage highly enoough.

We stayed as a family. The kyacking was amazing . The host was very responsive and the community is quite friendly. Plenty of fans. Unfortunately there was a fair amount of rain and the cottage is a bit small for a group hang out. If you are a close knit group, or smaller group, I would highly recommend. I loved it, but not everyone in my family felt the same.

We had such a wonderful time in this gorgeous spot. The salt marsh / river is so incredibly beautiful. The house is well appointed and had a perfect set up for our 2 and 3 year old with the trundle bed. Easy to access corn hill, we swam, kayaked and explored the marsh. Neighbors were nice too. Thanks Liz!

This was the seventh house we've stayed in on the Cape and it was all of our favorite. The location, view, and grounds are fabulous. The house is comfortable and cozy with wonderful water views, cross ventilation, a great outdoor shower and everything we needed to cook at home. The rooms/beds were comfortable and the house was very clean and didn't have the common musty smell. The owner was very quick to return emails. We enjoyed every aspect of it and would love to stay there again!

This is our second stay at Castleway. All year I anticipated the salty breeze and calming sight of the Pamet and it was as magnificent as I’d remembered. I love the quietude and old Cape essence of this place. I appreciate the thoughtful touches like the well outfitted kitchen and hammock. Already planning our next visit.
