A cosy wood burner and gas fired Aga are amongst the treasures of the house. From the sun room/conservatory there is a garden room to enjoy. Guests can also enjoy a private enclosed rear garden, a separate, small walled courtyard, and it is located on one of the most prominent streets of this charming medieval town. Ludlow is overshadowed by its own majestic castle, as it was once, like York, a seat of Government in Tudor and Stuart England. Now hosting the famous food festivals and events throughout the year, there is always a lively atmosphere here. It has a reputation for fine foods, award-winning restaurants, speciality and antique shops and even a racecourse. An excellent base to explore the unrivalled countryside for picnicking and walking or nearby towns such as Bridgnorth and Bewdley (Severn Valley Railway), Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Tenbury Wells and Leominster. The cathedral city of Hereford with its chained library and Mappa Mundi are all within a short drive, as are historic houses such as Witley Court, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay Castle and Powis Castle on the Welsh borders. Acton Scott, an historic working farm and the Secret Hills Discovery Centre are all just a few of the nearby attractions, so you will never be short of something to see. Supermarkets 50 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

The best I've ever stayed in. Everything you could possibly need. Feel warm, comfortable the moment you walk through the door. Just beautiful.

Wonderful location, a period house with a delightful walled garden and a very friendly and helpful host. The icing on the cake was a week of glorious weather.

Very pleasant & comfortable cottage, Louise & Mark made us very welcome, in particular our two Cocker Spaniels. The well appointed kitchen, fresh flowers in all rooms and period furniture among many other unique features makes Friary cottage very special. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Friary Cottage is a complete joy; comfortable, warm, beautifully furnished, well equipped and in a splendid location. The owners have thought of everything that you could possibly need and then added many extra benefits. I enjoyed the experience of having an Aga in the kitchen; I didn’t try serious cooking but just lovely for easy meals. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Great cottage in a great location! Our hosts Louise and Mark were very welcoming and helpful, and the cottage is comfortable and beautifully furnished. Ludlow has an intriguing history and great pubs too - as well as many walks in the immediate vicinity. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Many plus sides to the cottage:- Great cottage with an enviable location right on the fringe of Ludlow. We had all the home comforts that we could hope for. The log fire was lovely and welcoming and the AGA cooker was amazing. Very spacious cottage with big rooms apart from the lounge which was small compared to the other rooms (kitchen and bedrooms etc..) but it was cosy. The only negatives we had was that firstly the wooden stairs were very slippery to get to the bedrooms and very steep. Ok if you had shoes or slippers on but in your stocking feet they were difficult to get up the last three steps. Also we were unaware of the graveyard the cottage overlooked until we arrived which freaked our daughter out quite a bit (a personal thing but may be best to inform guests of this feature). Couldn’t fault it, we had a fabulous time. The house was perfect for us and our two dogs, and Ludlow is a really lovely town, full of friendly people and plenty of independent shops and places to eat. Not to mention the Castle and the Shropshire Hills on your doorstep... Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
