Stayed Feb 5, 2026Excellent stay. All you needed was at hand. Very cosy and welcoming. Comfy bed, loved the cottage is right next to beach. Lovely big enclosed garden.

Stayed Jan 23, 2026The cottage is small, ideal for a couple or family of 4, and has been refurbished to a high standard. The biggest selling point for us was its proximity to the beach. The sand and surf can be seen from the garden and back windows, and reached on (bare) foot within one minute. The beach itself is golden, quiet and unspoiled, lovely for soul restoring walks or even a dook if you are feeling brave or have a wetsuit.

Stayed Jul 25, 2025A fantastic little cottage in a beautiful location. Stunning views from the back windows of the beach and waves coming in, which is all just a short walk straight out the back garden onto the sand. The cottage appears to have been refurbished fairly recently, is in great condition and was a fine if compact size for our family of four. There’s not much to Embo itself in terms of amenities, but that was fine for us- Dornoch a few minutes drive away and supermarkets in Tain if you need them. Plenty for the family to see and do in the area- walks, golf, cycling etc. Communication from the owners prior to our arrival was friendly and helpful. All in all this was a cracking wee find and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Stayed May 22, 2025We are just home from a fabulous week at The Wee Belter (2 adults & 2 kids under 9). The location is just wonderful, you can hear the waves as you fall asleep and stroll down to the beach anytime (which is virtually out the back door) and a 5 min drive from beautiful Dornoch. The house is small but full of charm and has everything you need. I’d imagine in the colder months it would be very cosy with the fire on. The master bedroom has a bit of wow factor with the view and the kids room was great for their age group with the bunkbeds. There was extra storage in the garage which we didn’t need but useful if we stay again and bring our bikes. The owner was particularly friendly and helpful through text messages and when we met on our final day. Lovely family to deal with and we would be delighted to stay again.

Stayed Apr 22, 2025The Wee Belter is a lovely home-from-home stay, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Well equipped (with a really useful guide/instructions booklet) and cosy, with a stunning beach just 50 metres from the back gate. Will definitely be booking again.
