Just a few minutes’ walk away is the centre of the charming market town of Crieff, which has an excellent selection of small local shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés, as well as a great variety of sporting and recreational facilities, including Crieff Golf Club, which is rated as Scotland’s finest inland golf course. The town also boasts two parks and riverside walks along the River Earn and River Turret. Just on the outskirts of the town is the famous Glenturret Whisky Distillery, the oldest working distillery, which offers tours. Crieff offers events throughout the year including the Crieff Highland Games, a music festival, a farmers’ market and the Autumn Drovers’ Festival.

This area of Strathearn is ideal for walkers and cyclists or for those who wish to relax and unwind. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking in dramatic scenery, and water sports are available on Loch Earn. A little further afield, but still within easy driving distance, you are able to enjoy day trips to the magnificent Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, or visit the attractive small villages in the area. Still within easy driving distance, day trips can be enjoyed at Stirling which offers retail therapy as well as visitor attractions including Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. Perth, on the banks of the River Tay, offers a theatre and a historic city centre with shopping and places to eat.

After spending your day exploring, the Hoolit provides a welcoming home to return to, where you can relax in the hot tub and admire the the view. Local wildlife, including deer and wild birds, are frequent visitors. Shop 900 yards, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Immaculately clean and comfortable cottage with all the equipment required for a lovely break. Lovely little touches like welcome basket, tourist info, selection of games, outdoor toys, bbq, fire pit and seating. Hot tub was great and in private beautiful relaxing setting with lovely open view. Could see chickens and deer from garden as well as lots of bird activity.

We really enjoyed our time at the Hoolit. The location was perfect for us to explore Scotland, and the hot tub was lovely to relax in after a long day. I would highly recommend staying at the hoolit and hope to return in the future.
