A great stay. 4 of us needed a base for a mountaineering weekend and this was perfect. Slap bang in the middle of Ambleside, close to all amenities and really nicely done out. Jane is a great host and was really helpful and made herself available with good info about things like parking and getting in. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at The Shambles. Everything was absolutely perfect, only wish we could stay longer! The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were super comfy and the location was close to everything we needed. Jane was a wonderful host and we would definitely stay here again!

For a family The Shambles has the lot including what I would describe as a no noise relax/read/ family get together and play old fashioned board games room. The bathroom has a wonderful bath that must be up there with the longest in the north of England and comes complete with all the little extras you would expect in a good hotel. Beds are comfy and the kitchen everything you need - except a cook! Was working on a difficult job in Ambleside but as soon as I opened the front door of the Shambles I felt time had slowed down and it was time to relax for the evening. Brilliant place to stay.

Had a lovely stay at Shambles cottage. The owner Jane could not have been more helpful. She also left us a lovely little welcome hamper which meant we had time to settle in before having to fo to shops. Would recommend it.

We had a great short break; we had bad luck with the weather, but a lovely stay in the very comfortable & well equipped cottage which, having 2 living rooms made it feel very spacious. Lots of games, good wifi reception so children happy. The owner was really helpful with the couple of queries we had. The only downside might be that the dedicated parking is a little walk away (not surprising really as the cottage is in centre of town), but if you're out all day, the overnight parking permit in town works really well. (And able to park outside cottage to load & unload) I'd love to go back, thank you
