Stayed Dec 21, 2025Fab stay but due to having no car for the whole stay , I struggled to find it and ended up in taxi, even locals struggled! However all in all it was lovely although I would probably stop nearer to centre. Beautiful views and peaceful.

Stayed Nov 17, 2025Immaculate, cosy cottage. Very well equipped with everything you could need and plenty of instructions. In a quiet position, ten minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. Plenty of walks from the door - we didn’t use the car during our stay. We would definitely stay again.

Stayed Aug 23, 2025Very warm cottage. Comfortable beds. We enjoyed our stay … a lovely place to return to after a day exploring this wonderful area. Very important you are fully aware of the steep steps down from the car… and the steep stairs to the upper floor. …. not for anyone with compromised mobility!

Stayed Aug 2, 2024The cottage did the job- we slept pretty well and had what we needed in the kitchen. It is a very small property and lacked somewhere to hang coats and out outdoor stuff (of which we had lots). And there is no view at all which is frustrating when you know what’s around you. The walk into Ambleside is a short 10 stroll.

Stayed Dec 31, 1969A very lovely cottage, absolutely everything you can possibly need is provided. Special mention to the lovely big bath which was much needed after a wet, winter walk! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Great cottage. Lovely location, bit of a walk up the hill but having a car parking space made that worth it. Very clean, comfortable and cozy. Had a great three days. Thank you! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Stayed Dec 31, 1969Lovely cottage in a great location. Very clean, all the facilities and equipment you need, the garden was great for the little one & the log burner was amazing - great bonus!! Only negative was the double bed was a little hard, but everything else was perfect! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Stayed Dec 31, 1969This was our 2nd stay in Stockdale Cottage and there were a few changes from last time. It's still up a steep hill and down some tricky steps but has the benefit of off road parking. The owners have redecorated it and added a Perfect Fit blind to the back door, which is very nice. Everything was nice and clean and we felt very safe staying here. We were lucky to have good weather so appreciated the chairs and table in the garden, and the washing line was useful (although there is a washer/dryer, as well as a dishwasher). The lovely log burning stove only got used once as it was so warm, and there's efficient central heating. This was the first time I had used an induction hob and was impressed by its controllability and speed. However, people with pacemakers and ICDs need to stay well clear! The keysafe was a big improvement on having to trail to Windermere to collect and return the key. Ambleside is an excellent base for exploring the Lakes and the Cottage is only a 10 minute walk from town. For a couple or family with up to 2 children we have no hesitation in recommending it. We did, however, find it a little too cosy with 4 adults. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
