Walkers are well catered for in Portpatrick with spectacular cliff paths in both directions where you can follow the path past Dunskey Castle to Knockinaam or past several secluded bays to Killantringan Lighthouse. The walk from the village to Killantringan is the start of the Southern Upland Way. The village is a hive of activity throughout the year for guests at Thistle Cottage to enjoy from the RNLI Lifeboat week, the Music Festival, Farmers Markets and Craft Fayres to Vintage Truck Rallies. Being on the recently formed South West Coastal 300 a stunningly beautiful touring route throughout the whole region, Portpatrick is the perfect base for your holiday. With its stunning landscape the area is popular with artists, birdwatchers and nature lovers. Take a trip to Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point, where you will find a fabulous lighthouse and the RSPB nature reserve. From here you will get the most amazing views of Ireland, England, Isle of Man and Scotland, it really is well worth a visit.
