The living room furniture needs replaced and the area rug needs a good cleaning. The beds would be so much better if foam toppers or something could be used to make them less hard. The pool table room had patches all over it but was never repainted. The back deck furniture is filthy. We love the location and have so many beautiful memories here. Hoping some tlc can restore this house to its former glory bc it has so much potential.

First let me say the area is beautiful! And the house could be so nice if it was given some TLC. But it was not worth what we paid for it. When we walked in the house it smelled very musty. The property pictures that are shown online are accurate however the property was very dirty. It needed a good deep clean in every room. We pulled back the sheets in the master bedroom and there was what looked like dog hair all over the sheets. Spider webs throughout the house, holes in the ceiling & a musty smell all over. The back deck chairs were so dirty with dirt & moss all over them, you could not even sit on them. There was no place else to sit in the back other than those chairs.Apparently this house is a non-ac unit house. I was 100% unaware of that when I booked the home for our family vacation. Usually I do not run into issues with VRBO but under amenities it did not list A/C and I did not even think to look for that. Normally, under description in bookings it list any important information that anyone needs to know. We were under an extreme heat warning and there was no way my family could stay and tough it out. Just in the hour we were there I was dripping sweat. THANKFULLY the Best of Cannon was able to move us to a different location right away that had AC and was a very clean beautiful house. The girl that helped me at Best of Cannon was very patient with me and got us taken care of immediately. My family was so appreciative!

We had a great stay at Bears Lair. Our family of 8 (4 kids, 4 adults) loved how open the downstairs was. It was perfect to hang in different spots and still be able to all mingle. House is conveniently located at base of Mountian just inside Old Timberlines gate. If you like to fish theres 2 beautiful lakes and 2 ponds to fish on.The only thing I can say could be updated are the photos online. Pictures show a room witb 2 bunks perfect for 4 siblings 3-8. Kids were super excited, and sadly disappointed when we arrived and no bunks. This however, was a minor thing.

We spent time skiing at Timberline, tubing and ice skating at Canaan, and sledding at Black Water Falls. This home was in the perfect location for it all. This is an older home with easy access and tons of room. Our dog, Ford, had a wonderful time exploring the large yard and looking out the large windows. We enjoyed sitting by the fire watching it snow, but this house had a fantastic heating system. The hot tub was a popular spot after a day of winter sports. The owners are currently working on updating the property. Overall, it was clean but needs a good spring cleaning. This won't be our only trip to Bear's Lair and we sure do appreciate the owners sharing their home with us.

We were there in late October. Leaves were bright, and falling beautifully. We couldn't see any neighbors. Loved that. The house was clean and cozy warm. There were deer in the yard. Had a great time. Playing pool and putting together puzzles and playing cards. Enjoyed Mama Mia's restaurant. Try the Big Timber beer.

This poor cabin is in desperate need of fixing up. Missing siding, missing screens, ceiling and floor damage inside. The layout is great, the location is ideal, but the owners really need to put just minimal effort into taking care of the place. The hot tub is unusable so don't plan on it. None of the controls work and it's stuck on a heat setting that is way too hot to enjoy. The pool table is uneven and only has a single cue that is even slightly straight. We had to do some cleaning when we got there as it clearly hadn't been used in a while. Cob webs and dust. The beds are every bit as hard as described in other reviews. The pictures in the listing are dated, TVs and so forth have been upgraded. Does not have cable, but does have some basic form of streaming. Very secluded and quiet lot. It appears this cabin is owned by someone who doesn't want to or can't pay to have repairs done so they try to do it themselves (poorly) and clearly haven't had time or desire to get them done. There was tarps covering some removed siding and a previous water leak the damage from which had not been repaired. Big place, big rooms, everything except the hot tub worked, just be prepared for what was once a beautiful place that is in desperate need of TLC. Felt bad for it honestly. It just needs someone to love it, and clearly the owners don't. Given the price and ideal location I guess it's worth it? Wouldn't stay again unless someone fixes it up. Best of Canaan is great to work with, that entire experience was top notch.

The 2 main bedroom suites & the 3rd & 4th bedrooms have a shared connected bathroom were perfect for the 6 of us. We loved the front & back decks & firepit. The huge laundry room came in handy. No air conditioning was surprising but it wasn’t bad. I couldn’t find a hose to spray off the dirty outdoor chairs. I loved bringing my pup. Awesome location too.
